The King of Black Fog

Chapter 278: Library_2

"Your Majesty, your servant shall take his leave now," Li Changzhou said, rising to his feet with a smile.

"You may go, Taoist master. Once I have made a decision, an imperial edict will be sent to you," the Emperor responded.

Li Changzhou, accompanied by Turquoise Pool, bowed again before walking out of the side hall. As soon as his foot crossed the threshold, he vanished from everyone's sight.

"Master Shenxiao is truly an Immortal!" Huang Jin exclaimed in amazement.

The Emperor Jiajing's emotions gradually calmed down, and he once again sat cross-legged on the cushioned platform.

"Master," Huang Jin suddenly bent down, his hand lightly touching the ground, "What is this? Did the master not ascend to heaven?"

Turning his gaze, the Emperor discovered it was just dust, shed from his movements a moment ago.

Upon seeing the gray dust, Emperor Jiajing burst into laughter again, slapping his knee and shouting, "Good! Good! Good!"

Huang Jin immediately suggested, "Could it be that master went to the Immortal Peach Orchard and hence got the mud—"

Emperor Jiajing was about to retort jokingly, to share his experiences on the moon, such as flying with ease and possessing the strength to lift cauldrons but he kept silent.

An Emperor didn't need to share his joy with anyone else.

"This is the Immortal soil from the Moon Palace. Take care of it, place it in a golden bowl, and offer it to the Imperial Temple," the Emperor instructed.

"Yes," Huang Jin acknowledged.

Emperor Jiajing asked for a chime stone to be brought and closed his eyes. He struck the chime stone while recalling what he had witnessed a moment ago, pondering the Immortal Formation Technique mentioned by Li Changzhou.

Who would have guessed that after hosting a great banquet for his ministers last night and visiting the moon today, amidst his excitement and with the heavy snow fluttering outside while warmth filled the hall, he would fall asleep.

The stick striking the chime stone fell to the ground with a thud.

"Plop!"

When Emperor Jiajing was startled awake by laughter, he saw palace maids and eunuchs kneeling all over the floor.

"Drag them out and execute them by beating!" Huang Jin whispered the command forcefully.

Two eunuchs rose and approached the palace maid who had just laughed.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty..." The beautiful maid was so terrified that her body went limp, repeatedly crying out to the Emperor but unable to articulate anything more.

One of the eunuchs impassively covered the palace maid's mouth.

"Stop," said Huang Jin, who was always attentive to the Emperor's expressions. The movements in the hall ceased abruptly, as if hitting a pause button in a movie.

Emperor Jiajing beckoned to the palace maid, "Come here."

Huang Jin led the others out of the hall.

Enveloping the palace maid in his arms, the Emperor casually asked about her age and background, playfully flirting with her for a while before he tossed the chime stone aside.

Not yet satisfied, after conferring the title of Beauty on the palace maid, he summoned Consort Duan.

"Your Majesty seems in high spirits today," Consort Duan remarked, her face flushed as she nuzzled against the Emperor's chest, gently stroking his belly.

"Today, I visited the Moon Palace," the Emperor said, caressing Consort Duan's delicate shoulders.

"The Moon Palace?"

Emperor Jiajing had always favored Consort Duan, and now, lying in bed together, bodies and hearts intertwined, his desire to share soared to new heights. He could not help but recount his recent adventure.

After listening, Consort Duan immediately knelt on the bed, exclaiming, "Congratulations, Your Majesty! My felicitations!"

"Haha!" Delighted, Emperor Jiajing then took an aphrodisiac and pulled Consort Duan beneath him.

As Consort Duan looked at Jiajing Emperor laboring above her, she embraced him, pressing her face to his chest, making sounds to match his rhythm, though her face revealed a contemplative expression.

Exiting the side hall, Li Changzhou took Turquoise Pool straight back to Fengtian Palace.

"You've already boasted, so what's the plan now?" Turquoise Pool asked with a smile.

"I'll think of something," Li Changzhou replied as he walked into the library of the Fengtian Palace.

Fengtian Palace was one of the three major Daoist Palaces within the palace grounds, intended not only for rituals, sleeping, and office work but naturally equipped with a library, too.

While those of the Royal Family could not cultivate, the library was amply stocked.

Li Changzhou returned late from the banquet the night before and did not rush here; he was worried about Emperor Jiajing finding out—such a sight, a real Taoist person scurrying to the library, would seem to lack any real ability.

Today was different; it was not after a late-night banquet, and he had just escorted Emperor Jiajing to the moon. If Jiajing Emperor found out—Master Shenxiao was surely checking whether these Daoist Laws were genuine or not.

The eunuchs opened the doors to the library, and Turquoise Pool followed inside.

Rows of shelves stood, some neatly lined with books, others stacked with scrolls.

It rivaled a modern university library in scope—chock-full of books, a veritable sea of literature.

And these were all about Daoist Laws!

Once upon a time, even the "Thunder Map" drew crowds willing to pay for entry, while the "Divine Fire Map" sparked a battle at the harbor involving battleships, cannons, demons, warlords' scions, opera actors, and characters from all walks of life.

In a corner of the library, there was a reading area with a table and several cushioned seats arranged around it.

"Do you really intend to help Emperor Jiajing in his immortal cultivation?" Turquoise Pool inquired.

"A man of honor may be shameless, but he cannot be untrustworthy." Li Changzhou pulled out a book labeled "Milo Supreme Heaven," an S-grade Visualization method.

To meditate on Milo Heaven and extract its essence for cultivation.

Li Changzhou then selected another book, "Dragon Tiger Great Divine Power," a divine skill from Dragon and Tiger Mountain.

After reading the introduction, he turned serious.

The Divine Body innately possessed a skill, "Dragon Slayer," that became feeble without the Divine Body active; with the Divine Body active, the presence or absence of this skill made little difference—it was quite superfluous.

"Dragon Tiger Great Divine Power" would enable one to cultivate into one dragon or one tiger, among three types of dragons—Azure Dragon, Gray Dragon, Yellow Dragon—and similarly, three types of tigers—Heavenly Teng, Land Wu, and Qiongqi.

The Azure Dragon excelled in magic, the Gray Dragon in physical strength, and the Yellow Dragon in protection of both body and spirit.

Heavenly Teng, according to the "Scripture of Mountains and Seas," had eight heads and eight tails, the body of a tiger, with a green-yellow color, breathing out clouds and mist, ruling over water—an eight-headed tiger with greenish-yellow stripes;

Land Wu, also from the "Scripture of Mountains and Seas," the Kunlun Hills are the capital under the command of the god Land Wu, who has the appearance of a body of a tiger with nine tails, a human face, and tiger claws; this god commands the nine divisions of heaven—a nine-tailed divine tiger;
