The King of Black Fog

Chapter 208 "Divine Fire Map": Second Potential Development

The sun hung in the sky like a coin ablaze.

"Qian Xia, take your medicine." Yang Qinglan's icy gaze fixed on the penguin, the Pegasus, and the walrus.

Li Qianxia was silent for a moment, then slowly stood up. She took out an elixir pill and put it into her mouth.

The elixir pill that increased one's attribute by a stage couldn't increase attributes when taken again but could restore a certain amount of 'ability'.

"What did you eat? You're not allowed to eat that!" The penguin immediately pointed at them and roared.

The Pegasus gave it a glance. The penguin's irritability indicated that the situation had become dangerous.

"I used to quite like penguins." Yang Qinglan's cold eyes flicked towards the penguin, "Qian Xia, pick one."

"Penguin, horse." She also wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth.

"Choose one," Yang Qinglan repeated.

Li Qianxia's 'ability' had nearly run out due to using 'Instantaneous', and even after taking the elixir pill, she couldn't recover to her peak in a short period.

"No." Li Qianxia's eyes tinged red, "Their status isn't good either."

The Blood-colored Steel Spear pointed at the penguin and Pegasus: "I want to kill them now!"

"Fat pig!" The penguin suddenly cried out, its body almost jumping up.

The walrus's form puffed up, swelling as it moved in front of the penguin and Pegasus.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The 'Desert Eagle' inexplicably appeared in Li Qianxia's left hand, the barrel exploded with rings of flames, and the bullets, under immense thrust, sliced through the air, shooting towards the three animals.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Three bullets embedded deeply into the walrus's body, like... a slingshot pulled back!

Yang Qinglan's eyes turned blue. The walrus fell backwards, its massive body pressing down on the penguin and Pegasus.

The penguin leapt up lightly and kicked the walrus's back with its foot.

Bang!

The bullets, indented in the walrus's belly, flew at a thirty-degree angle into the woods; the walrus itself crashed to the ground with a thud after being kicked by the penguin.

"Delinka!" the Pegasus shouted.

Delinka the penguin looked up to find a strong wind bearing down on it; Yang Qinglan and Li Qianxia had already closed the distance.

Its entire body tensed as if something had gripped its heart tightly. A profound sense of crisis erupted within it, releasing a reaction and strength akin to that described in the 'Divine Fire Map'— setting one's own body on fire.

"Wings" crossed over, its tooth-filled mouth hissed: "Freeze!"

The visibly blue chill rushed forward, the temperature plummeting fast enough to crack open skin.

Li Qianxia and Yang Qinglan vanished, only to reappear at the penguin and Pegasus's side.

After executing 'Instantaneous', Li Qianxia's body once again fell into emptiness. Unable to react immediately, Yang Qinglan's Emerald Bee Sword already slashed towards the Pegasus's neck.

Without any signs of fireworks, it was as fluid as clouds flowing through water, like a celestial fairy flicking her water sleeves.

The horse's head soared into the sky as blood spurted from the neck like a pipe.

Dark clouds roiled as Heavenly Thunder struck the neck bone, a more powerful strength surged from within, and the aged Emerald Bee Sword swung back under this power, slashing towards the penguin.

The penguin's feathers undulated like an electrocardiogram, a supreme display of its exploding crisis sense.

It toppled forwards, its rotund body rolling with the momentum, dodging the attack.

"Run fast! I have no strength left!" the penguin leaped nimbly and dashed toward the deeper part of the forest.

"Huff! Huff!" The walrus lay on the ground, flapping its front limbs like it was moving through water, shooting forward in a burst.

Just as Yang Qinglan was about to give chase, the headless Pegasus beside her suddenly began to gallop. A new head grew from its hindquarters, and the "horse's neck" that had been spraying blood gradually became its hind end.

Li Qianxia started to go after it but was stopped by Yang Qinglan.

"Conserve 'energy'. Take out the Supreme Speeder. With the Shadow Cat here, they can't escape," Yang Qinglan suggested.

Li Qianxia began summoning the Supreme Speeder while glancing at the horse's head on the ground, frowning, she asked, "What is this thing?"

Yang Qinglan thought for a moment and replied,

"It's probably the Australian Magic Lizard's skill. This animal has a spiky ball growing behind its neck, sometimes called a 'fake head'. When in danger, it lowers its real head between its legs, extending the 'fake head'—that's probably what happened when the walrus blocked it just now; it used that skill."

"Then chop it in half from the middle!" Li Qianxia said fiercely.

The Mecha·Supreme Speeder, with its black body and green energy bar, exuded a sense of science fiction and the future, emerging in the year 1880.

Li Qianxia mounted the vehicle, leg over, as her blood-colored armor from the neck down transformed into a white wedding gown, her legs stretched out straight and firm against the ground.

Yang Qinglan sat behind her, lightly holding her waist with his left hand, his right hand wielding the Emerald Bee Sword.

The green energy bar flowed like water, particles of light converging at the exhaust, the power furnace roaring.

Boom!

The gale swept through the forest now swallowed by the night; the Supreme Speeder left a trail of green auroras as it sped off.

"Over there," Yang Qinglan pointed towards the small town of Monroe Park in the southeast, his glossy long hair fluttering in the wind.

Monroe Park, the Edison Research Institute, and the forest formed a triangle, and the point where the three met was the train station.

The line connecting the Edison Research Institute with Monroe Park ran parallel to the railway tracks.

The Supreme Speeder soared into the air, exiting the forest. The brightness increased, seemingly turning back the clock by twenty minutes.

"Qian Xia," Yang Qinglan called out softly, worry in his voice.

"I'm fine," Li Qianxia said, her head bowed slightly in the setting sun, her face shaded, her voice devoid of fluctuation.

After a while, she said, "Qing Lan, you were right, I was too foolish. If I hadn't tried to save everyone, they wouldn't have all died."

"It's not foolishness, it's kindness," Yang Qinglan said from behind her, looking at her profile, "Little Radish, Beia Triss, even Turquoise Pool, and Zheng Qing, they all like you, are close to you, I like you a lot too."

"But kindness alone is foolishness."

Yang Qinglan watched her quietly and suddenly pinched her waist.

Li Qianxia yelped, and the Supreme Speeder twisted in the air like a dog chasing its tail.

"Qing Lan, what are you doing!" Li Qianxia exclaimed.

"Your brother told me to tell you, do whatever you want," Yang Qinglan said.

"My brother told you to tell me?!"

"Yes!" Yang Qinglan laughed.

"Good! I'm going to take revenge now!"

"Then let's get revenge!"

Li Qianxia twisted the throttle, and the Supreme Speeder roared off like a bomb.

In the evening breeze, Yang Qinglan faintly heard a thank you.

Li Qianxia lifted her face, the setting sun gracing her features with a layer of gold.

"Woo woo!"

A train, whistling loudly, spewed black smoke from its chimney, like a steel dragon.

"The train!" Yang Qinglan shouted, "They've escaped onto the train!"

"Hmph, they sure can run!"

Li Qianxia gently pressed down with both hands, and the Supreme Speeder dove, racing alongside the train.

With a light jump, Yang Qinglan gracefully landed on the roof of the train, standing atop the last carriage.

The strong wind blew against her face, the train shook, but she stood still as a statue.

Walking as if on flat ground, she took a few steps forward and looked down to see a 'Jansen coupler', made of steel and as wide as an adult thigh, firmly linking two carriages together.

The Emerald Bee Sword sliced down, cutting through the coupler as easily as a craft knife through paper, leaving a smooth, refined edge.

Rumbling, the engine, pulling the rest of the carriages, sped off into the distance, while the last carriage continued to slide forward on the tracks due to inertia.

Whoosh! A burst of blue flames erupted inside the carriage, blooming like a giant azure rose.

Yang Qinglan stepped forward and stomped lightly, "Call the Wind and Rain."

A chilling gale blew through, and heavy rain fell like bullets, creating a loud drumming noise inside the carriage. The blue flames instantly dwindled, swaying pitifully in the storm.

Li Qianxia lifted the hem of her bridal gown and pulled out her Desert Eagle, aiming at the carriage.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

With each shot, a massive flame burst from the muzzle, and the bullets, as if fleeing the fire, raced towards the carriage.

The powerful recoil of the Desert Eagle caused the already derailed carriage to flip over.

Yang Qinglan lightly jumped down from the carriage roof.

Still pushed by inertia, the carriage left a trail of sparks on the ground before gradually coming to a stop.

Li Qianxia stopped the motorcycle, jumped down, and her white bridal dress retrogressed back into blood-colored armor.

She and Yang Qinglan, behind the carriage, crept towards the overturned carriage like hunting leopards.

Only half the sun remained, its egg-yolk afterglow spreading across the ground beside the tracks, like a scene from a western movie.

Bam! A walrus's head burst through the carriage, squeezing its way out.

"You fat pig!" A penguin kicked it from inside, and the walrus was ejected.

Yang Qinglan glanced up, and the walrus, instead of hitting the ground, flew higher into the darkening sky.

"Qian Xia," she said, "we need to hurry."

Keeping an object out of sight under the control of 'Attract And Repel' would continuously drain her 'Ability'.

Li Qianxia took a slow, deep breath.

The endlessly nagging Brixi, the silent Sivit, Wusi who never complains about leg injuries, the kind and friendly Ismei, the old Demon Hunter who thought 'boy' was cool, and Dan Xi, Eddie, and Abram from the Combat Martial Tower...

Heavenly Fire descended, and her muscles tightened slowly.

This time it wasn't Strength that she compressed.

Thin, sharp flames jetted out from the crevices; Li Qianxia felt as though her entire being was set aflame.

The flames erupted furiously, like eyes snapping open after a deep sleep, visibly dancing over her body.

Passion, anger, and murderous intent all blended together, ignited by Visualization.

Li Qianxia was like a moth in a sea of fire, her body charged with intense heat, devoid of any other emotion.

She took a fierce step forward, the Blood-colored Steel Spear thrusting vehemently through the air.

Scorching heat detached from her body and exploded inside the carriage the next second, the formidable impact even creating a tiny mushroom cloud.

The ice wall erected by the penguin cracked with a snap.

"No!"

The flames wriggled through the cracks like a murderer prying open a door.

'Divine Fire Map' potential second phase development—Moth to a Flame.

Visualization igniting thoughts into actual fire, the more intense the emotions, the greater the power.

But as the move's name suggests, like a moth to a flame, while seeking warmth, one might also burn to death; restraint was required during use, as flames born from overpowering emotions could incinerate the user themself.

As the flames died down, two bodies, one large and one small, lay within, their Identity Cards reflecting the firelight, freshly buried amidst the black ash.

Yang Qinglan looked up at the sky.

Bam! The walrus fell, bouncing like a ball.

Without absorbing the impact, it tried to "perform" and make everyone ignore it.

But before it could even twist its neck, Yang Qinglan had already advanced, the Emerald Peak Sword easily piercing its tough yet flexible hide and straight through its heart.

The walrus's body went limp, lifeless as a couch.

Yang Qinglan withdrew her sword, and the Identity Card popped out from the walrus's head, landing on the ground. Its belly shifted, and the unconscious Edison slid out of its mouth, his legs still inside.

Li Qianxia approached but suddenly stumbled, bracing herself with the Blood-colored Steel Spear.

"I'm out of strength," she said to Yang Qinglan with a smile.

Yang Qinglan smiled back, "Me too."

The blood-colored armor and golden armor dissipated simultaneously.

A female ghost in a black dress slowly rose from between the train tracks, and centaur and hidden-blade spider ghosts stepped out of the void.
