Astraya blushed, muttering, "No, no, no, ma'am. I'm just a normal girl."
The man, who was built like a bull, chuckled. "Normal? Hmmm, that's not normal. I didn't start learning mana until I was fourteen."
Astraya and I looked genuinely perplexed. We knew we had awoken our mana early, but hearing that the brown-haired lady was seventeen when she awoke hers and the pierced woman was nineteen put our timeline into perspective.
The brown-haired lady clapped her hands together. "Alright, young lady, you must be very tired. You used a lot of mana; I can tell by the way you're breathing." She gently patted Astraya's head. "Don't worry, we'll take good care of you."
The girl with the piercing then asked, "So, which one of you is the older sibling?"
I immediately replied, and she reached out, pressing my cheeks. "Awwwn, you're so cute with the black hair! What are you two's names?" she asked, clearly interested.
"Astraga Fula," I told them.
"Astraya Fula," my sister replied, as we were accustomed to identifying our names individually.
The man now chimed in, asking, "Do either of you know why your dad would want to train under Lord Zedd?"
The pierced woman added, "Yeah, why him?" The look on the brown-haired woman's face made it seem as though we were signing our death wish.
The girl with the piercing sighed. "He may be strong, but his teaching methods are just too harsh." She then glared toward Rose, who had now joined the gathering of Lord Zedd, Father, and Ghost. "Nobody gets it worse than his niece right there."
"That was his niece?" I thought, momentarily stunned.
The man quickly hushed her. "Shhh, don't let him hear us. We might get in trouble."
The brown-haired woman quickly steered them back. "Alright, let's not get distracted. We came to heal this poor girl. Alright, let's begin," they said simultaneously.
I had always been curious about healing, as it would help me a lot in recovery. Healing was always presented as difficult—how do you focus on healing? You must have an understanding of the injury. How would they do it?
"Excuse me, ma'am," I spoke up to the brown-haired lady. "Would my sister be okay?"
She smiled back. "Of course. These are easy to heal," she said.
"One day when I grow up, I want to be a healer just like you," I said, looking her straight in the eyes. She looked genuinely shocked. "But I have no mana! Just seeing you guys help my sister makes me happy."
I laid on enough cuteness—it was enough to make anyone feel pity for me. Astraya knew exactly what I was doing; she knew I was now a pro at this. Hehehe, a much-needed sacrifice to get my answers.
The two ladies immediately hugged me; their warmth was refreshing. The guy followed suit, though honestly, the women were enough. He stared being theatrical about it. It appeared I was too good. They hugged me, saying things like, "No, Astraga, you can still be a healer!" and, "No one has ever praised me for being a healer!" The girl with the piercing kissed my cheeks. "You're so much nicer than my idiot brothers!" The man hugged me as well, saying I could still do so much.
The brown-haired woman replied, "Alright, we will teach you some basics. How about that, huh, Astraga? So you can at least not feel manaless."
"Okay, okay, okay, aunties! Thank youuu!" I exclaimed.
Astraya could only smirk.
The girl with the piercing replied, "Alright, Astraga, and also Astraya, this is useful information for you also, so pay attention." The other two backed her up, agreeing. "Every element has its area of specialty in healing, be it red mana, blue mana, green mana, white mana…"
The man interrupted. "You sure he would know what that means?"
I replied quickly, "Yes, sir, don't worry about it."
The brown-haired lady added, "But for you kids' sake, I would say it's better to say fire, earth, water, and air to them."
"Okay, okay, okay," the pierced lady agreed. "Each element has a healing factor that they are good at. Simple as that. Okay, kids?"
Wait, if I was getting this right, that means what Mother said long ago was right. Each element had some level of healing factor.
"Okay, Aunty, but how are you going to heal my sister now? None of you here have all the required elements?" I asked, confused.
"Oh, goodness, no, Astraga! Each of us is a specialist in our own right!" the pierced lady replied. "I'm Water (Blue Mana), the brown-haired lady is Wind (White Mana)," she pointed, "and he is Earth (Green Mana)," as the man waved and flexed his muscle.
"Hmmm. I actually thought each element would stay in separate kingdoms, like that show I used to watch back as a kid in my previous life."
"The best way to show you how healing works is through practice," the man among them replied, appearing to be the group's resident bookworm. "Unlike other forms of mana manipulation, Astraga, it's important to know that each kingdom has had generations of knowledge transferred to them. That knowledge developed over time toward using mana to heal the human body."
Well, these were ideas I already knew. A few things I hadn't known or confirmed was each element having its own healing factors. Alright, let me ask him about that first.
"So sir, my sister here, how would you best help heal her?" I asked, figuring that was the most practical way to learn.
The brown-haired woman, not wanting to be outshone, replied before the man could. "Well, that would be using mana first to stabilize the body, of course," she said, totally confident in her answer.
"Stabilized? Oh my!" she exclaimed, adopting a baby tone and patting my head. "I used a big word for little Astraga!" She then started explaining what "stabilize" meant in this context, completely unaware of what I knew.
She then addressed my sister. "Alright, let's begin." She knelt down to be at Astraya's level.
The brown-haired woman began to glow a different color than the elemental mana I was familiar with. A purple glow moved from her body to Astraya's. The woman grew quiet, needing a lot of concentration, and she asked Astraya to close her eyes.
The girl with the piercing added, "This purple-like glow is TYPE 2 Mana. It's not the typical elemental mana, but mana as an individual power. It does the minimum, especially for sensory and some other stuff. But its sensory abilities help us determine the exact situation of who we need to heal. It helps with our understanding of minor injuries."
"First, you need to understand the main jobs," the brown haired woman said, making a simple hand gesture that mimicked a flowing river.
