SSS-Rank Engineer: Only I Can Create Legendary Weapons

Chapter 52: 52—Daily rewards The Stormsword

Percy was looking for good food and some decent information about how things would go down in Yarol. If he could also find some decent girls he wouldn't mind.

But in a town as small as Carmen, you'd find more wives than girls. And in this life he'd like to avoid people's wives. The problem was that any girl that was nearing a marriageable age was already engaged or being courted.

He decided to put that aside till he got to a bigger city. In the meantime, he wanted to focus on his stats.

[Rewards for Daily Quest: 2 additional stat points, Body revitalization]

The two additional stat points were stuffed into his strength and agility immediately without thinking much about it. The Body revitalization was something the system offered rarely after a particularly hard day of exercising.

He didn't want to use it now, because the sudden change in his physical condition would be surprising. The Ramlos siblings had seen him drag his feet all the way from the house here. If he suddenly stood up straight and became refreshed they would notice.

So he would endure till they got to town, which wasn't far now. He could see tall buildings rising over the trees ahead. He cursed under his breath and opened his status screen.

Getting stronger, aren't we? Soon I'll be able to go around without adult supervision.

Intelligence and spirit energy were his highest stats mostly because he hated seeing his intelligence so low, and the two stats were useful for Hermetics and Spiritmancy.

Besides, Arete didn't really need him to have high physical stats, it just needed him to keep using his Fighting spirit. His agility went up one point just from how much running he did from the spirit yesterday.

His new skills in both Spiritmancy and Arete were nice to see. [Tailwind] basically kept him alive yesterday, so it was nice to see it as a skill. [Expression] was his ability to apply his spirit to his fists or weapons.

What he wanted to do now was learn to apply his Fighting spirit to his Spellbolt. That would enhance its operation by a lot. But he couldn't quite get a handle on aligning his intent with the Spellbolt's intent.

With Thalos' sword it had been simpler. He aligned his murderous intent with the sword's. It was an instrument of slashing and killing, easy to understand. The Spellbolt was a bit more complicated in its shape and intent than a sword. He could ask his father, but not today.

He turned slightly to Thalos and Barty trailing them. They had both just finished helping rebuild and paint the house, but their work wasn't done. Now they had to take care of the kids.

There was a wish in his heart for Thalos to finally get to sit down and rest. If he was strong enough his father could lay back at home. The urge to go back home and continue working on magic tools surged in him.

But he was a bit drained for ideas. It was always a good idea to do something else after focusing so hard. Food was always a good pastime, he wanted to eat something new here.

The hunger rose as they entered the town and were surrounded by the smell of something frying. He turned, following the smell of dough and sugar.

"Honey-fried cakes…" Thalos hummed, turning to Barty with a smile. "There's probably some kind of competition today."

"A foot race," Barty said, pointing at the fields where people were gathered. "If I was a few years younger I'd win this whole thing."

"Let's go there," Thalos said to the children. Soon they arrived at the fields. People were cheering and dancing as the runners prepared themselves.

Percy let them go off to buy the honey cakes while he surveyed the crowd. He'd like someone old and possibly knowledgeable.

He soon found a target and marched towards him, weaving through the loud people and running children. A man was seated against a tree, smiling to himself as he watched the crowd.

He had a full head of grey hair, but his face didn't look too old. He wore simple traveling clothes, a cloak with many pockets and plain clothes underneath. But he looked too… powerful to be a normal person.

Percy stopped over the strange man, his shadow catching the man's attention.

"Hello, sir. I was wondering if I could ask you any questions?"

"Questions?" the man chuckled. "It would be an honour to answer your questions, Lord Perseus."

His body tensed up. The dormant flame of his Fighting spirit instantly came to life, and he reached into his storage, prepared to pull out his Spellbolt.

"Please remain calm, milord," the man said, raising his hands in a show of vulnerability. "My name is Hugo, a wandering knight. I once served in the Tris, under your mother's father, Duke Amphene."

He became even more suspicious of Hugo, taking a couple steps back into his blind spot.

"They sent you here to follow us. Don't move too suddenly, friend. I don't want to shoot you in the head by mistake."

"You move into a position that would be hard to attack from…" Hugo mused. "Your mother trains you well."

"My father. Thalos trains me, but she does help."

"Let's try to kill the tension," Hugo slumped back into the tree with his arms raised. "What question did you want to ask? And if I may ask my own, why did you choose to meet me of all the people here?"

He watched Hugo with one eye and looked for Thalos and the others with another. They were still in line to buy the cakes.

"No matter how hard you try to hide it, you don't look very normal, no offense. So I thought you might be participating in the tourney in Yarol with the Stormsword."

Hugo shook his head chuckling.

"Yes. I don't usually participate in tournaments. They wouldn't like the way I fight. But it is interesting you'd ask about the Stormsword."

Percy grimaced, so it was something he should be worried about. "Why? Is he here because of me?"

"The Count of Yarol invited him to try and broker a deal of sorts. The Margraves have the strongest armies in the land after all. And the Count will need an army soon."
