The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 093: Must Stop Them from Dating

For the past twenty years, Ling Ruonan endured the bitter sweetness of joys and sorrows; she would never allow her son to follow in her footsteps when it came to matters of the heart.

Therefore, when she learned that Luo Ziling was dating Yang Qingyin, she was quite frightened.

Although she opposed arranged marriages, advocating for freedom to love, and had strongly opposed the arranged marriage between Luo Ziling and Ouyang Feifei, which ultimately compelled Luo Liansheng to agree to break off the engagement with the Ouyang Family, she was also unwilling to see her son romantically involved with someone from the Yang Family.

Because she knew that no matter how well Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin's relationship developed, they would ultimately be torn apart.

They could never be together.

Ling Ruonan was aware of who Yang Qingyin was, and understood how outstanding the young princess of the Yang Family was.

Yang Qingyin and Ouyang Feifei, hailed as "Yanjing Beauty", were regarded by many as "Yanjing's Number One Beauty", and her character was also the type that Ling Ruonan admired. In Ling Ruonan's eyes, Yang Qingyin and Ouyang Feifei were two very different women.

Yang Qingyin was classic, graceful, and intellectual, while Ouyang Feifei was proud, scheming, and the type of person cut out for great endeavors.

For her son's future wife, Ling Ruonan preferred someone like Yang Qingyin who was excellent in all aspects and had not shown much scheming, rather than someone like Ouyang Feifei who had already achieved great success and had both extraordinary abilities and schemes.

She feared her son would not be able to handle his future wife; she did not want Luo Ziling to be hurt or manipulated by any woman.

She knew her son had not had much interaction with society and was unaware of the deviousness of human hearts; competing in scheming with others would lead to his downfall.

If Yang Qingyin had not been the young princess of the Yang Family but just a girl from an ordinary family, she would have supported their relationship unconditionally as long as Luo Ziling liked her. But now, she felt the only thing she could do was ruthlessly break them apart.

Better to end things now when the relationship was just beginning rather than allow their deep feelings to grow only to be painfully forced apart later on.

Although she still didn't regret her initial choice, she also knew that if she hadn't continued her relationship with Luo Xusheng when they first met, that man would have left a beautiful image in her life and everlasting memories. Had she married someone else, even Yang Yunfeng, her life wouldn't have been filled with such hardship, without a family of three being separated and not seeing each other for twenty years.

The pain and psychological torment she suffered during these twenty years truly could not be put into words.

Every time she thought about three-month-old Luo Ziling, who was forced to leave her side and was taken away by the tearful Luo Liansheng, she could not help but cry her heart out.

She would never forget when, after feeding her son, Luo Liansheng took Luo Ziling from her arms with red eyes, turned, and walked away from the Ling Family mansion, and the scene of her hugging her mother, crying heartrendingly.

If her mother hadn't held her tightly, she felt she would have collapsed.

Months later, with her mother's company and comfort, she slowly emerged from her sorrow.

But she did not give up; she vowed to change everything with her own efforts and reunite her family.

From then on, she focused singly on managing her family's assets and eventually proved her capability, earning her grandfather and father's recognition and becoming the one wielding great economic power in the family.

She also completely closed off her emotions and never became entangled with another man.

Initially, the family had intended to find her another man to marry, but she ruthlessly rejected the idea.

After several attempts, no one ever brought it up again, and she grew accustomed to living alone.

With a grown man and a young boy in her heart, she couldn't make room for anyone else, nor would she allow another person to enter her heart.

She was striving for the ultimate reunion of her family of three, to finally live together—the only belief that she clung to in life.

She knew that only by grasping power, the lifeblood of the family, would she have the right to speak, and only then would those around her dare not defy her wishes, and those who were hostile not dare to oppose her.

Events had proven her ideas correct: with her increasing capabilities and her rising status within the family, she ultimately took control of the Northern Group, an aircraft carrier-sized enterprise. Now, her status was even higher than that of the provincial governors, and no one dared to underestimate her anymore.

The words she spoke carried great weight within the family, even surpassing some of the elders in influence.

By the time Luo Ziling was of university age, she had, through her own efforts, finally brought her son out of the small mountain village in the Northwest and into the halls of higher education.

The family had tacitly approved her action, especially Old Mr. Luo Ling Jinhua and her own father, the current Family Head Ling Mingrui; they had shown no opposition to this matter.

This was what Ling Ruonan considered a tremendous success, and she felt that everything else would soon come together.

But she also knew that to reunite the three of them back in Yanjing would require a great deal more effort.

Endurance was still absolutely necessary, as both her grandfather and father had reminded her.

But Ling Ruonan understood even better that Luo Ziling, who had just arrived in Yanjing, absolutely could not make any missteps, otherwise enormous troubles would follow.

With so many women he should not associate with, why did he have to get entangled with Yang Qingyin?

Ling Ruonan felt an immense pain in her heart.

Of course, she was aware of her son's excellence.

There was no need to mention his looks; inheriting the genetic blessings from both her and Luo Xusheng, Luo Ziling could only be more handsome. Ling Ruonan was also aware that Old Mr. Luo had passed on all his knowledge to Luo Ziling. She knew Luo Liansheng was an unmatched genius with wide-ranging knowledge. Having received the true transmission of skills, Luo Ziling could not possibly be lacking in learning.

Moreover, Luo Liansheng was very proud by nature, daring to ignore anyone else's dignity. All the prominent families in Yanjing treated him with the highest courtesy.

How could someone personally taught by such a figure be lacking in any way?

Ling Ruonan was even more aware that if not for Luo Liansheng's reputation, even if she had really threatened with her own death, she would not have been able to change the destinies of Luo Xusheng and Luo Ziling.

The most talented man in the Yang Family had died because of Luo Xusheng, and at that time, the Yang Family, whose influence was no less than that of the Ling Family, was determined to take Luo Xusheng's life.

Luo Ziling's excellence was Ling Ruonan's greatest pride, and she knew even better that, just like his father, Luo Ziling's slightly shy smile was lethal to women.

Initially, it was Luo Xu's shy yet pure smile that had made her fall for him.

She believed that Yang Qingyin, who had always held herself above others and never gave any man the time of day, would agree to go on a trip with Luo Ziling, likely because of this aspect of him that ignited feelings in her.

Of course, she also suspected that this was a trap deliberately set up by the Yang Family, with the intention of using Yang Qingyin to completely ruin Luo Ziling.

No matter the reason, Ling Ruonan knew clearly that she had to stop Luo Ziling from associating with Yang Qingyin, even as a mere friend.

But she just couldn't think of a way to stop their association without hurting Luo Ziling.

She was deeply conflicted.
