The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 062: Kingly Aura

The car drove inside the wall and continued on for a bit.

After passing several buildings, it finally stopped in a very quiet little garden.

There was a small building in the garden, which was planted with many flowers and trees, creating an exceptionally elegant environment.

Lin Lan kicked open the car door and jumped out without calling out to Luo Ziling, heading straight for the small building.

As Lin Lan approached the building, a tall, expressionless man came out to meet her.

She nodded in greeting to him and then stood still, waiting for Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling pushed open the car door and curiously looked around the garden and the small building, as well as the stern-faced man beside Lin Lan, feeling a bit uneasy as he walked toward the building.

"Is it him?" The man seemed quite surprised by Luo Ziling's youth and, after getting a clear look at him, asked Lin Lan incredulously, "Can he really heal the chief's injury?"

"He should be capable," Lin Lan said softly and waved at Luo Ziling, signaling him to hurry over.

Luo Ziling walked quickly to Lin Lan and, glancing at the unfriendly-looking man, asked again, "He isn't the patient, is he?"

"No!" Lin Lan shook her head and, without further explanation, said, "Follow me, and remember what I told you earlier."

So, Luo Ziling followed Lin Lan into the small building without uttering another word.

However, Lin Lan didn't go upstairs; instead, she took a roundabout way through the corridor and headed directly toward the back courtyard.

The man who had spoken with Lin Lan and given Luo Ziling unfriendly looks didn't follow them, which let Luo Ziling breathe a slight sigh of relief.

The man's gaze was exceptionally cold and contained a hint of murderous intent, which was very discomforting.

Near the small building, there were no soldiers or patrolling sentries to be seen, but Luo Ziling felt an indescribable aura of mournfulness, giving him a heavy feeling inside.

When he came with Lin Lan in the car, he hadn't felt any pressure, but now, following behind her, he felt an invisible pressure, as if a master of unparalleled skill was hidden here.

In the past, aside from his grandfather, he had never felt pressure from anyone else.

When entering and facing armed soldiers, even when their gun barrels were pointed at his body, he had not felt this kind of uncomfortable oppression.

"There must be a master of unmatched skill living here, with abilities no worse than Grandfather's," this was Luo Ziling's intuitive belief.

After turning two corridors, the garden ahead came into view, lush with flowers and trees, and the feeling of oppression grew stronger.

Lin Lan's footsteps were no longer as robust and forceful as when they first entered; they were lighter, as if trying not to wake someone who was sleeping.

As Lin Lan walked, she looked back and gestured a silencing sign to Luo Ziling.

Passing the last corridor, Luo Ziling suddenly saw a person appear in front of them.

An elderly person with white hair and beard was lying on a bamboo chair, his eyes tightly closed as if suffering from a serious illness. Near him stood two young women in nurse uniforms, their heads bowed and expressions filled with trepidation.

The old man's features were rugged, most notably the silver needle-like beard that accentuated the roughness of his face. Luo Ziling finally understood the source of the indescribable sense of oppression he had felt since his arrival—it emanated from the old man lying on the chair. Although the old man's eyes were closed, Luo Ziling could feel the sharpness and kingly aura emanating from his face, which involuntarily made him apprehensive.

However, Luo Ziling was not like ordinary people. Despite the sense of pressure, he took a couple of deep breaths and managed to maintain his composure.

As if sensing something, the old man who had been lying with his eyes closed suddenly opened them when Luo Ziling appeared.

The moment he opened his eyes, Luo Ziling felt a piercing gaze fall upon his face. He was immediately confronted with an indescribable pressure, like Mount Tai bearing down, inciting nervousness, panic, and even an impulse to kneel and worship.

It was then that he fully understood why he felt such oppression and discomfort upon entering this small garden.

It was the presence of the master, enlivening ordinary objects with spirit and regality.

Luo Ziling had experienced such an aura with his grandfather and with Ouyang Lingyun and Ouyang Feifei as well.

His grandfather's aura was strong, but Luo Ziling, who had grown accustomed to it, no longer felt anything special.

The presence of Ouyang Lingyun and Ouyang Feifei was not comparable to his grandfather's. Luo Ziling had easily dispelled it the first time he faced it.

But the pressure brought by the white-haired old man lying on the chair, with just a glimpse of his slightly opened eyes, was indescribably immense, almost suffocating him. After struggling to adjust his breathing and taking a couple of deep breaths, he regained his normal condition.

"Eh?!" The old man seemed quite surprised by Luo Ziling's performance. Seeing him recover from a slight nervousness so quickly, the old man's originally murky eyes suddenly brightened, and he asked out loud, "Young man, who are you?"

There was a clear note of astonishment in his voice.

Luo Ziling was unsure of how to respond, and Lin Lan, who stood obediently to the side, completely devoid of her usual assertiveness, stepped forward to answer, "Sir, he's the doctor I invited. He's the same 'Divine Doctor' who saved my life after I was unfortunately injured on a mission."

This surprised Luo Ziling a bit; Lin Lan actually referred to him as the "Divine Doctor." Although he had heard this title before, hearing it from the mouth of a stunning woman of significant status like Lin Lan felt entirely different, causing him to feel slightly elated.

"Oh!" the elder narrowed his eyes, appraising Luo Ziling up and down before nodding in approval, "Not bad, much stronger than the average person."

Remembering Lin Lan's instructions, Luo Ziling didn't speak out of turn, nor did he know what to say.

The old man praised him for being stronger than the average person, yet he could not shamelessly agree, affirming that he was indeed far stronger than the average person in every way.

Such self-aggrandizing behavior, although common for Luo Ziling, felt inappropriate in front of a beautiful woman, an elder, and the two curious young nurses standing nearby. Instead, he just straightened his chest a bit more.

"There aren't many who dare to stand tall and straight in my presence," remarked the old man after taking a few more glances at Luo Ziling, praising him further, "I am starting to believe in your medical skills. I didn't want to let any doctor examine my illness, but I will give you a chance."

Upon hearing these words, Luo Ziling became somewhat angry and retorted, "No, you're wrong. The opportunity is not yours to give, but mine to give to you. You should know that I am the doctor, and you are the patient. Whether to treat you, and how to treat you, that's my business. Now, it is I who am giving you the opportunity, not the other way around."

Luo Ziling's words startled the old man and caused Lin Lan's face to change completely.

That was it. The boy hadn't listened to her at all. How could he dare to say such defiant words?

If the chief became angry, Luo Ziling's prospects would be grim, and whether he could even leave this place was uncertain.
