Pillar of Yita

Chapter 29 Vampire_2

The bracelet itself has no attributes, nor is it a magic accessory.

And the name Fang Hong saw in the system was 'Chain of Life's Blessing'. Although time had left its marks on it, he could still feel a faint sacred aura within the silver light when he gently touched it.

Due to his journey with Fenris, he was familiar with Milaila's divine strength. The sacred aura on this chain likely also originated from this Goddess of Life, being at least blessed by her priest or baptized with holy water.

Seeing this bracelet, a rumor suddenly came to his mind. "Miss Tata, is this that thing?" Miss Fairy's emerald-like eyes were as calm as a mirror—she could sense her knight's thoughts and gently nodded.

In Eteliria, the mortality rate of infants was still quite high, so nobles would seek some holy relics blessed by the Goddess of Life to ensure their descendants grew up safely. The Goddess of Life, Milaila, was in charge of fertility, which was also one of her divine offices.

The bracelet in his hand should be such a holy relic. When worn by infants or children, the divine strength of the Goddess of Life would naturally protect them as they grew strong.

Fang Hong, holding the bracelet, glanced at the painting again. "Let's go," he finally said to Gita. This should be the last discovery in this room, despite its coincidental appearance.

However, he had a faint feeling in his heart that the bracelet's appearance wasn't coincidental. Its well-preserved condition was obviously out of place compared to the other surroundings, and the sacred aura of the Goddess of Life had not dissipated for over a hundred years.

It was as if a certain obsession surrounded it, much like the holy relics in the Dolifen Fantasy, enduring and fresh.

It seemed just like this room.

A mysterious power seemed to guide them to this place—

The two pushed the door open, only to find the outside room had become like weathered sand, the previous phantom realm had vanished, and the tidy room had turned into ruins, with no sign of its previous guest room appearance.

"Ah?" Gita couldn't help but utter a low exclamation upon seeing this scene.

But it was this exclamation that seemed to alert something ahead. Fang Hong suddenly saw a shadow flicker behind the window in front, and this time he saw it clearly, it was no illusion.

Having lost track of the opponent several times before, Fang Hong wouldn't miss this opportunity. He immediately released the Clockwork Fairy and shielded Gita behind him, dashing forward himself.

Meanwhile, the Energy Angel moved swiftly, blinking almost simultaneously to the other side of the wall.

As Fang Hong flipped over the window, a shadow lunged straight at him. Behind him, Gita raised a crystal lamp high, the soft light radiating—allowing him to see clearly. In the darkness was a half-body zombie, jaw wide open with sharp teeth, its long tongue curling towards him.

Starved Ghost—

The sudden appearance of this creature in the dark made Fang Hong's scalp tingle. However, he reacted quickly, swinging his left hand downward at an angle. To one side, the Energy Angel's hand rose and fell, a silver light cutting down diagonally along the zombie's crown.

Fang Hong sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the falling head of the zombie. Yet, his evasion was too low. As the zombie passed him, his evasion value hit zero, and its long claws left a gash on his chest, staining his coat with blood.

Gita's scream came from behind him.

The system simultaneously provided a kill and experience notification. But Fang Hong didn't have time to check; a 'Starved Ghost' never appears alone, another type of undead—a Vampire—must be behind it.

But his perception was too low, and Vampires are masters of stealth. Fang Hong clutched his chest, cautiously scanning his surroundings, unable to sense anything in the dark and narrow environment.

Fortunately, his alertness wasn't entirely useless. At a critical moment, Fang Hong suddenly felt a strong gust strike from behind. "Watch out, behind!" Gita's crisp voice sounded full of tension and concern.

Without thinking, Fang Hong raised his right hand to block behind him while turning around.

But he blocked nothing.

The attacker cunningly changed direction, its strike in the darkness akin to an ambush, destined to heavily wound Fang Hong. However, at that moment, Fang Hong's Dark Ritual activated.

Foreseeing danger automatically controlled Fang Hong's body, making him instinctively lunge forward. The Vampire transformed above him into a large bat, past him. It flapped its wings, turned into thick smoke, and landed, reshaping into humanoid form.

Fang Hong hurriedly scrambled to his feet, finally seeing the opponent clearly. It was a small human, with a pale gray face, wearing a tattered black robe, like a disreputable black wizard.

Fang Hong saw the opponent's level in the system: High Rank Servant, Lv22.

Its face was bloodless, growling low when the strike missed. Simultaneously, it flickered to the side, disappearing from Fang Hong's view again—its level was too high! Fang Hong inwardly exclaimed, releasing a second Energy Angel to protect his rear.

At that moment, he heard a stuttering spell from behind: "Thorn!"

It was Gita's voice.

In the stone corridor, thorny brambles grew and spread.

Simultaneously, with a loud bang, a thick, thorny vine broke through the wall, sending stones flying, and wrapped towards a direction behind Fang Hong.

Fang Hong knew Gita could see things behind him that he couldn't. He acted on instinct, without needing to turn, leveling his right metal-gloved hand and sweeping his fingers lightly.
