Pillar of Yita

Chapter 242: Legendary XIV_2

At a straight distance, he had almost no chance of winning, but with the terrain, there might still be a sliver of opportunity.

"Try to contact these people," Ambassador Liao ordered in a somber voice from the command center, "Where are the members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team, and what on earth are they doing?"

"They can't make contact with them either."

"What about us?"

"It seems Toragotos has interfered with their Starlight Devices."

Ambassador Liao couldn't help but frown and clenched his fists.

"Get a representative from the BBK club here immediately—"

As Fang Hong ran, he released all his Clockwork Fairies. On the screen, in his hands, golden wings scattered like dead leaf butterflies before beautiful arcs shot into the air in different directions.

The military personnel in the command center might have been used to such a scene, while the others were no longer surprised—six controls, seven controls were actually nothing special to them, initially a bit unexpected, but after seeing Fang Hong's true strength, no waves were stirred.

However, this scene in the eyes of the pursuing Jiefulite and Blood Oath Alliance rangers, Nightingales, when they saw what those golden arcs were, couldn't help but curse under their breath.

So many Clockwork Fairies!

What exactly are they chasing?

Someone immediately shouted, "Shoot those things down!"

But before he could finish, the golden orbs, as if hearing his words, scattered and flew away, then instantly dipped down, vanishing from everyone's sight.

"He's monitoring every intersection!"

Here were the elite trainee members from the two guilds; and although their levels were not high, their knowledge was rich. Seeing this operation, they immediately understood Fang Hong's intent. But understanding was one thing, actually locating the Clockwork Fairies was a whole different ballgame—their movements and trajectories were trickier than even a common craftsman's, making it very difficult to find, even for the likes of Wu Di and Kaka.

Let alone for them.

The terrain ahead sloped upward, as Fang Hong made his way through a street full of ruins. He aimed for a tall Holy Temple not too far away, planning to enter it and then figure out how to shake off the pursuers behind him.

It was a fairly large temple building, with gray-white walls carved with some ancient figures, which, in the dark and sealed environment, were surprisingly well-preserved—most portrayed Xinsas Serpentfolk with serpentine tails and humanoid bodies, some holding Ornamental Staffs, while others wore Golden Crowns.

Together, they guarded the central, towering Holy Icon. This icon had a humanoid body and dragon head, slightly resembling the Dragon's Claw that Fang Hong had seen before. But without wings or long horns, the expression was much more majestic and solemn. On its forehead was a star-shaped symbol, one hand held the Scepter of Authority, and the other a slate.

Fang Hong didn't know much about the Xinsas Era, but he recognized the serpent people holding Ornamental Staffs on the wall as priests and ritualists; others as Monarch Pharaohs, and the central statue was even more significant—it represented the god of knowledge and wisdom from the ancient pantheon, Ka Kula, the giver of knowledge, the recorder, and the one who bestowed civilization upon the Xinsas Serpentfolk.

In the Sun God System, it could be said to be second only to the Sun God Tower, Ta Aka.

And the presence of the Temple of the Wisdom God in this place suggested that he was not far from the Central District of the Holy Sanctuary. However, the Central District was not his destination. It was the main hall of the Sun God Tower, Ta Aka, and temples of lesser deities like Salrutaka naturally didn't qualify for this area.

Fang Hong had information sent by 'Alice,' as well as being personally told by Salrutaka about the location of the temple, so he was clear that the place was on the other side of the main island past the Central District. That place was special, not only because it was the location of Salrutaka's temple but also because the Obelisk was there.

This Obelisk not only concealed the secrets of the Elf Holy Grail but also sealed Salrutaka's soul and strength. It's very likely that it wasn't made for the Xinsas Serpentfolk and didn't belong to the same era as the city.

He crossed the street and approached the Holy Temple. Around Ka Kula's temple was a circle of lower, trapezoidal stone walls, protecting the Holy Sanctuary.

And this wall was better preserved than the one outside. Circumventing it halfway, Fang Hong found no entrance on it. He couldn't help but look back, and in this short span of time, members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team had caught up from behind.

Fang Hong had no choice but to raise his right hand, preparing to fire the Flying Claw.

He had not intended to scale the wall this way because it could easily reveal his position, but he no longer had the luxury to consider that. If his pursuers caught up, exposure would be the least of his worries.

But just as Fang Hong had fired the Flying Claw, the ground suddenly shook violently, the tremor more intense than any before. It felt to him as though the street had tilted thirty degrees, and he naturally lost his footing and slipped to the ground.

The members of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team fared no better, in fact, they were in a worse state. While Fang Hong was fortunate that the Flying Claw remained securely anchored in the wall, which prevented him from rolling down, the others were not as lucky.

Turning his head, Fang Hong could see that those from the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team had not noticed him hanging above, as many of them were already falling backward due to the slanting street and rolling down the road.

Looking down, Fang Hong couldn't help but inhale sharply.

In fact, everyone who saw what was happening could not help but take in a cold breath.

A gigantic fissure had opened up in that place, shrouded in mist, and a colossal entity was slowly emerging from within it. Its bright eyes, like two suns, hung in mid-air, penetrating the fog and sweeping in this direction.

Then, the creature revealed its true form—a White Bone Giant Mountain—Fang Hong believed that at this moment, that was the only term he could use to describe it.

It was a mountain, an empty skeleton, perhaps in life it had been some kind of reptile, but no one had seen a lizard of such mountainous size—just the portion of its grey-white skull protruding from the mist was as big as a gigantic Pyramid.

The exposed part alone was at least three to four hundred feet high, almost level with the rocky summit. In its hollow eye sockets hung two pale flames, each one larger than the Holy Icon of Ka Kula he saw before.

The monster drew back the giant claw it had been resting on the ground, struggling to climb up.

And struggle it did, for Fang Hong saw that a significant portion of its body was still buried beneath the rock strata. It possessed four enormous bone claws, each effort to pull a part of its spine from the ground resulted in the corresponding street heaving upward.

It seemed as if it had been buried under part of the Holy Temple.

Or rather, the giant island itself could be a part of its body.

However, the reason it could not emerge was that each time it came closer to the top of the cliff, it would crash into a layer of light net. Each collision caused the entire Central District to shake violently.

As the Holy Temple District shook with each inch the giant monster extricated itself from the ground, fissures appeared, streets crumbled and tilted, and alongside the fractured escarpment, they sank into the earth.

Fang Hong saw that the light net which held the colossal creature was actually extending from the gigantic Pyramid fortress he had seen before, linking to the four corners of the Central District of the Holy Temple.

He immediately realized that, at the four corners of this district, there must be a fortress Pyramid like that.

It was a Sealing.

But what in the world was this thing?

And it was then, a voice sounded in his ear, "That is me."

Fang Hong turned around to find that the speaker was actually a Night Lizard Person—no, it was more accurate to say it was the will of Salrutaka, this Deity's avatar stood unmoving as if unaffected, standing still at its original place.

Its voice was heavy and carried a hint of arrogance, "Toragotos has already begun summoning my true self. This place will collapse soon, and then it will be Fenris."

Its blood-red eyes gazed at Fang Hong, as if it wasn't talking about its own destiny.

"If you don't want to die here, you better move fast."
