Chapter 138: Professional Alchemist?_3

But just as he was about to politely decline, a voice came from beside him, answering for him:

"It's possible."

Fang Hong was taken aback, turned, and found that indeed, it was Miss Atira who had spoken.

But what did he have to sell to these people? While he did make a box of crossbow bolts for Parker yesterday, would anyone want such a thing?

Fearing that the Elf Miss was unaware of his situation, and knowing that his experience was not common among alchemists, he quickly lowered his voice and whispered softly, "Wait, Miss Atira, I—"

But Atira gently pressed his hand and subtly shook her head at him, signaling him to stay calm.

Fang Hong paused slightly at this, but he could only temporarily hold back.

He felt uneasy, unsure of what Miss Atira had in mind, even though she should clearly be aware of the team's financial situation.

"Thank you very much," the man said, glancing at Atira, obviously unaware of the inner turmoil between the two on the platform. Their group's situation was in fact much more severe than he had described, and while they weren't yet at the point of losing their combat effectiveness, if they encountered another night like the previous one, then they'd be in big trouble.

Perhaps they wouldn't even need a repeat of last night; even half the number of Night Lizard attackers could leave them in a desperate situation. By then, complete annihilation could be a distinct possibility.

The complete annihilation of these veterans wasn't a major issue; at most, they would lose a bit of Starlight, but the guild couldn't afford the loss of a batch of trainees. And no one could bear that responsibility.

Not to mention during this tense period.

Of course, they could choose to return to Golden Bay, but going back and forth would waste at least two days, and in fact, the timing of the Spring-Autumn Tour was fixed. A return trip could risk missing the trials.

Although that scenario was somewhat better than complete annihilation, the difference was negligible. At the very least, it meant the half-year training plan for the trainees would essentially be in vain.

They had already found themselves in a dilemma at Emerald Pass; if it hadn't been for the Recon Airship informing them of a merchant group ahead in the valley, bringing them a godsend message to save them from their predicament.

Only they hadn't expected that the merchant group wasn't a merchant group, but an adventure group led by an Alchemist. However, it appeared that the latter was even better than what they had initially anticipated.

Encountering an adventure group led by an Alchemist in the wilderness, not to mention in Fenris, was an opportunity that wasn't even guaranteed in places like Colin.

Therefore, the man quickly nodded—he had no idea that within the Alchemist's group there was such an oddity as Fang Hong. Becoming an Apprentice Alchemist for over half a year and then advancing from Level three to eight in just a month, while his Level might seem not too low, he was undoubtedly still a rookie.

As for possessions or stockpiled crafted items, naturally, there were none.

He said, "Lady Elf, we will then calculate the cost based on the market price of the Fenris Isle region, where you can find the local prices in the community. How does that sound? Of course, we are in the wilderness, so theoretically, you could mark up your prices."

This price, of course, was still quite fair.

Atira was well aware of this point, but she shook her head and said, "Sir, as you have seen, we too were attacked by the Night Lizard People and lost some of our provisions and quite a lot of supplies. Therefore, the items you wish to purchase we fear may be hard for us to produce at the moment."

"However, I have a proposal. You could hire us to accompany you on your journey. It's apparent that you are in a hurry, and going back to Golden Bay would clearly result in excessive losses. Thus, we could assist each other. On one hand, we possess a certain combat prowess and can help if we encounter the Night Lizard People again. On the other hand, we can craft a batch of equipment for you on the road. As you can see, we have a Beast of Burden Platform, which allows us to progress while still completing crafting tasks," she explained.

The man was slightly startled. At first, upon hearing Atira's initial words, his expression turned a shade uglier, but as he listened to the proposal, he couldn't help falling into thought.

Honestly, he found that he had no choice but to agree, as realistically, there weren't many other options.

Of course, this was because he subconsciously assumed that the team was led by an Alchemist with superb craftsmanship skills - although Fang Hong appeared young, for a Chosen talent like the Invokers, age usually didn't mean much.

Being an Invoker himself, he understandably knew this well.

Meanwhile, since the other party came from a region beyond the Cloud Sea, wouldn't an Adventure Group capable of inter-regional travel be anything but rookies? The fact that they had a valuable large Beast of Burden also seemed to indirectly support this.

Of course, if he knew that the young man before him was less than Level Nine, he might well reconsider the idea of returning to Golden Bay, because an Alchemist of Level Eight was not exactly a rookie, but was still quite far from being professional.

After contemplating for a short while, he finally nodded, "And the price?"

"As for the price, that's a separate issue. We will send someone to discuss it with you later. Since we are mutually supporting each other, we will naturally offer you a relatively favorable price. However, we hope to settle part of the payment with provisions," Atira responded calmly.

"That's no problem," the man answered. Their supplies had not suffered much loss in the battle the night before, so they clearly had no issue with their provisions.

"Then it's a deal, Madam," he continued, "We will have the others rest here for a while and wait to discuss the merging of our groups."

As he spoke, the man removed his feathered tricorn hat, bowed to everyone, and then turned to leave.

Watching the man leave, Fang Hong looked at Atira somewhat guiltily, "Is this really alright, Miss Atira?"

"Are you not confident in your Alchemy, Ade?" the Elf Miss asked, turning back to him.

Fang Hong scratched his head. To tell the truth, he really wasn't sure about his level of Alchemy skills, unlike in the Combat Artisan domain where he had sparred with Wu Di, Red Leaf, and other top talents of the Eteliria frontline guilds and had a rough idea of where his combat capabilities stood.

His only other significant performance as an Alchemist had been during the Continental League.

However, the competition in the Continental League mainly focused on the Alchemists' speed and precision, but in Eteliria Alchemy was a vast domain, far more complex than just speed and precision.

Aside from some confidence in maintaining Magic Guided Conductors, he really had no recognition of his crafting skills. In fact, since he entered this world, the number of items he had crafted were only a handful after all.

And among them, there were even fewer masterpieces.
