Chapter 97: Battle to Break the Stalemate XI

It seemed as if in a blink of an eye, seventeen or eighteen such disgusting monsters surged into the room.

Fang Hong looked around and immediately felt as if he were surrounded. His scalp tingled, but he forced himself to stay calm and said to Hes, "I'll open a gap, and you charge out."

"What about you?"

"I'll be right behind you."

Hes clutched her apron, her knuckles going white, and nodded nervously with her lips tightly pursed.

Fang Hong then turned back, focusing entirely on the task at hand, and seriously pulled down his Wind Goggles saying, "Miss Tata, guide my target."

"Understood, Mr. Knight."

The doll girl placed a hand on his shoulder and suddenly opened her eyelids, revealing a pair of brilliant silver eyes sparkling like Gemstones: "Nine o'clock to the left."

Without hesitation, Fang Hong turned in that direction, and what leapt toward him was the pale head of a middle-aged man, with half-closed eyes and a mouth of uneven yellow teeth.

He gauged the trajectory and calmly commanded the 'Sword Bearer' to strike.

The head opened its mouth wide, and a cold gleam flashed diagonally across, cutting through flesh and skin, with purple blood splattering across a wall.

"Eleven o'clock direction."

A monster had climbed along the beam above their heads and was plunging down. At the critical moment, Fang Hong looked up to see a young girl's head, half decayed but still showing her once beautiful features.

He lifted his hand numbly, and the 'Sword Bearer' stabbed her eye socket in a backhanded strike, the tip protruding half an inch from the back of her skull.

With a wave of his right hand, the 'Sword Bearer' threw her against the wall with the same motion, smearing it into a gory mess.

The Flexible Construct took another step forward—

"Twelve, one, and ten o'clock directions," Miss Fairy said urgently.

In front was a wrinkled old man, a young man with half his face missing, and the face of a swollen fat man.

"Agility and Swift, activate!" Fang Hong roared.

The 'Sword Bearer' wielded the sword with both hands, and in a flash, made four slashes from front to back, left to right, sending the three heads flying or cleaving them in two.

Finally, a gap appeared in front of them.

"Agility and Swift entering cooldown; system overheating for twelve seconds," Miss Ta's voice remained calm as ever.

"Hes, run!" Fang Hong turned and pushed the rather frail girl, shouting lowly.

"Mr. Knight, watch out behind you, six o'clock," Miss Fairy suddenly warned.

Fang Hong quickly turned, a monster had already pounced from behind. Without thinking, he instinctively kicked out, but the creature dodged with a bizarre angle, causing him to kick air.

The kick inflicted single-digit Evasion Value damage. However, he lost his Balance due to the excessive force, and the system warned him of a Balance Value breach in bold red letters across his retina. But he had no time to look at the numbers.

He was already falling backward, losing his center of gravity to the ground.

Fang Hong only felt himself hit the ground hard, and the head covered with purple tumors bit toward his neck. He smelt a foul stench and thought to himself that this was bad, raising his hand to block instinctively.

The monster bit into his hand, immediately tearing flesh open and beads of blood emerging. Fang Hong was so pained he almost cried.

At that moment, Hes picked up a stick from nowhere and, with all her strength, smashed it against the temple of the head, tearing off a large chunk of flesh along with Fang Hong's, and sending the monster flying away.

Fang Hong groaned, nearly fainting from the agony.

"Mr. Ade!"

Hes cried out in alarm and hurriedly grasped him to drag him back.

"Go left, don't stop!" Fang Hong gasped in pain, but mustered all his strength to shout. Fortunately, he had kept his final bit of composure and instinctively used his left hand to block.

Thus his right hand could still move and continue controlling the Flexible Construct.

As Hes pulled him back, the Type III Walker shifted to the left to allow passage, Blade Feet stepped forward again, blocking the pursuing monsters.

"Hes, there's a bandage in my shoulder bag!"

"Got it!"

As Hes dragged him backward, she frantically searched for the item. Bandages were a staple in an Adventurer's supply, and Fang Hong naturally wouldn't forget to bring them.

He had Hes bring the bandage to his mouth, and he bit it, tearing off a piece and hurriedly wrapping it around his wound—this was just to stop the bleeding. As for disinfecting, that would have to wait until later.

"Take out the bottle in that pocket, too."

"Alright."

Hes wiped the sweat from her forehead and fumbled to comply.

Thankfully, they had already made a gap amidst the encircling hordes, so now although more and more strange heads were multiplying, they were only chasing from behind, unable to block their path.

Fang Hong's forehead was dripping with cold sweat as he controlled the Type III Walker to fight and retreat, watching Hes pull a silver bottle from his pocket.

"Open the bottle." He spat out most of the bandage from his mouth, unafraid to waste supplies, and gave the order.

Hes quickly removed the Cork.

"Pour it out."

Hes responded in a panic and, looking up, saw a vast swarm of heads emerging from the darkness. They covered the ground in a dense layer, eerily writhing like a carpet of flesh maggots from afar.

She suppressed her nausea and splashed the liquid from the bottle outward. As soon as the pale silver liquid hit the floor, it acted like acid, emitting white smoke upon contact.

Any monsters touched by even a small drop instantly burst into pure white flames from their rotting wounds, retreating while emitting piercing shrieks.
