Chapter 67: Wings That Shroud the Kong (Part 2)

It was an antique-level Fearless One, but the three shadow arrows turned and pierced straight through it, shattering the Fearless One into pieces instantaneously, reverting it back to its component parts.

Fang Hong didn't have time to lament the loss of a piece of history. He hurriedly rolled to the side, as three black lines stabbed into the spot where he had just been. The marble ground in front of him was like tofu.

"Catch!

Fang Hong heard a shout. He strained his neck to look in that direction and saw Linen had somehow found a grappling hook and tossed it toward him. The grappling hook landed by his side with a clang, and Fang Hong, catching Linen's intention, grabbed it without a second thought.

Linen tugged hard on the rope, and Fang Hong immediately slid rapidly in that direction. The black lines chased after him, striking into the ground one after another, missing by mere inches.

Seven shadow arrows fell short, and Fang Hong reached Linen's side.

"Thanks," he said, jumping up from the ground and dusting off behind him. Thankfully, his coat was thick enough; otherwise, sliding over all that broken glass would have been brutal.

"This grappling hook is over a hundred and thirty years old," Linen said somewhat painfully.

"Luckily, it didn't break."

Linen looked in the direction of the Dark Giant Dragon and saw a shadow flash outside the tower, suggesting Nikopolas was climbing in another direction.

"It's heading to our left, be careful!" Linen warned.

Before the words were out of his mouth, there was a loud crash, and the wall there collapsed.

Black lines shot straight inside; the two of them quickly ducked, allowing the lines to pass over their heads, sweeping through the hall, slicing the collections inside to pieces. But the black lines quickly turned back towards their position, shooting straight at them.

The two, recognizing what was happening, turned on their heels and sprinted away in unison.

"This isn't going to work," Linen gasped: "I found something useful earlier."

"What?" Fang Hong asked.

"Peter's super-sized Shield Generator."

"Are you sure that thing still works?" Fang Hong asked, running, in a skeptical tone.

"It's only twenty years old!"

"Only?"

The sound of glass shattering drew nearer behind them.

Fang Hong glanced back and quickly asked, "Where is it?"

"It's to your left," Linen called out: "It has a glass facade I can't open!"

Fang Hong looked in that direction and indeed saw the item Linen mentioned, intact in its place. Without hesitation, he fired a Rocket Fist. 'Pride of the Lonely King' smashed through the glass with a 'wham,' shattering the glass wall.

Grasping the railing inside, he leapt over and fell heavily to the ground like a salted fish.

The floor suddenly gave way, and Fang Hong fell as well. He suddenly heard a low rumble emanate through the tower, and his heart sank — the Elfendo Tower is a relic of the Numelin Elves, different from modern constructions; the entire tower has buoyancy.

But many of the floors inside the tower were later repaired, and Fang Hong realized the sound he heard was the floor of this level cracking and collapsing.

Its structure was too damaged to hold much longer.

Seeing this, he paid no mind to the shards of glass on the floor, pushed up with all his might, and ran towards the Shield Generator. However, seeing the device gave Fang Hong a headache; most of what he'd learned was the craftsmanship of making things.

But the maintenance and use of these large pieces of equipment — he really didn't know—

He quickly turned back and asked, "How do I use this thing!?"

Linen was dodging streams of black light, shouting, "First, open the restrainer!"

"Opened, then what!?"

"Disengage the safety."

"Done, third step!"

"Connect the magic power circuit."

Fang Hong fumbled through the operations and shouted, "Done!"

"Insert the Magic Crystal!"

"But I don't have a Magic Crystal!" Fang Hong, sweating coldly, urgently shouted back, "Do you have one?"

"I do!" Linen tore his Magic Guided Reactor away and threw it with all his might, "The Main Core Crystal of the Magic Guided Reactor is a Magic Crystal, insert it!"

Fang Hong ran over, picked up the Magic Guided Reactor, yanked out the Magic Crystal in a flurry, and inserted it into the Shield Generator with force. There was a click; the crystal spun into a recess, then lit up sharply, and before Fang Hong's watchful eyes, a dark blue light spread outward from the crystal.

In an instant, it expanded twenty or thirty meters, enveloping the core of the hall, forming a light blue barrier wall.

The black lines outside struck the wall with a 'thud thud thud,' dissipating on contact, unable to penetrate further.

At this point, Linen, panting heavily, finally arrived by his side, collapsing to his knees as if having survived a catastrophe.

But Fang Hong grabbed him and pulled him up, "Don't stop, keep moving!"

"Let me rest," Linen, pale, said, "I'm about to die."

"If you stop, you will surely die," Fang Hong, dragging him toward the center of the hall, said, "You don't seriously think a mere Shield Generator can stop the Dark Giant Dragon, do you? Take a good look."

Linen glanced back and saw the once-expanding barrier, now flickering under the continuous assault of the black lines.

His expression changed and he said, "...Our level is too low, the Main Core Crystal's quality is too poor, and the Magic Power reserve is insufficient."

"Even at full strength, it wouldn't be much better," Fang Hong pointed to a direction, "You're underestimating the Dark Giant Dragon."
