Chapter 165: The Surveyor

Fang Hong lifted the hem of his coat from the water, frowning as he watched the woolen fabric drip water, which joined the ripples and flowed downstream. In the distance, a sign from an unknown shop was carried by the waves and bumped against the glass window of a craft store at the street corner, then disappeared in an instant.

A mutilated corpse hung on the window ledge, its hand soaked in the water, the skin pale, and the eyes long devoid of starlight, staring emptily at the street. There, an ugly creature was nailed to the wall, its face flat and nasal cavity sunken; it stared wide-eyed at the front, black-red blood running along the spear into the water.

As for another Thornfish Person's corpse, it had already fallen into the water, and no shadow could be seen.

Hilveld was lifting her skirt and slowly moving forward, and seeing this, Fang Hong reached out his hand to her. The young girl looked up with clear eyes at him, smiled slightly, and placed her hand in his. But she actually didn't say that compared to agility and balance, she was far more adept than her captain.

"The workshop is just ahead," Baijia lightly swung her sword, causing the blood droplets on the blade to form an arc onto a glass window. She sheathed her sword and said while looking ahead: "Across that street—"

Hearing this, Fang Hong pulled down his wind goggles and looked, spotting the building in the criss-crossing streams. Though it was merely a property of the Westwood Sibika family within the city, it was quite large and stood out among the buildings.

"By Ouli, it would be great if the Teleportation Array got soaked and broken," someone said.

But Fang Hong shook his head: "The Magic Guided Array isn't that fragile."

He fiddled with his wind goggles and added: "At due east twelve o'clock, eleven o'clock, and two o'clock directions, Fishmen are approaching, a total of eleven, of which two are dressed differently and might be elites. Hold on, I'll mark the positions for you."

His method of marking positions was simple, pointing with his finger, a Clockwork Fairy would draw a golden arc in the air and hover at a spot. Every place a Clockwork Fairy hovered indicated the presence of Fishmen below.

It wasn't difficult to do this, but controlling seven or eight Clockwork Fairies with such precision was a spectacle that left everyone in awe.

But even more awe-inspiring were the viewers in the broadcast room.

After all, they had just watched this person win the Artisan Competition championship.

And ordering seven or eight Flexible Constructs simultaneously was far more impressive than controlling the Orphen Twins Stars; such multitasking prowess is what people most admire and extol about Combat Artisans.

People subconsciously thought of Virus, the Ice Goddess also skilled in Dual-System Mastery, who was said to know Fang Hong as well.

Thus, some wondered if Fang Hong had any special relationship with Virus, as this Ice Goddess, despite having many students, had yet to have a true heir to her legacy.

And Fang Hong's origin from Ragnarok sparked more speculation—such as whether Elite would team up with Twilight of the Gods? That would be quite an impact on the domestic top ten guilds' structure.

However, the person in question clearly had no such thoughts. Virus stood in a faint mist, her eyes calmly observing the scenes within the mist, the haze being nothing but rising water vapor, one of the rare spell capabilities of the Fishmen Hydromancers.

In Eteliria's records, abnormal creatures often remember their magical lineage, a connection passed down from some ancient powerful magic creature, perhaps a Dragon or a beast like Koras that powerful.

The mighty ancestors allowed them to retain strong physiques despite layers of degradation, making them naturally different from humans, a weak tribe.

But Ouli bestowed creativity upon humans. Without Alchemy, seven or eight human soldiers might not be a match for a Thornfish Person. But with the backing of the Magic Guided Reactor and a variety of Magic Guided Conductors, mortals can establish themselves in this land.

This is a civilization distinctly different from Earth, yet humans from beyond the Stargate, who have walked through history, retain shared understandings and memories, which have scripted contemporary history.

Virus had the Clockwork Fairies sweep through the mist like a flock of birds, images transmitted from each fairy formed her web-like Vision. It's a perception entirely different from ordinary people, who might feel dizzy after a single glance, but for a trained Combat Artisan, it's just basic.

She withdrew her hand. Controlling the Clockwork Fairies was merely done with five exquisite rings on her hand, covered the most extensively with the guard on the index finger; towards the back, a lozenge-shaped band adorned the middle and ring fingers, with an Emerald and an Amethyst embedded at the center respectively, while a slender silver ring graced the little finger—forming a stark contrast with the bulky Control Gloves used by general artisans—as they are a Legendary Level Equipment, Star Halo.

But the net-like search had not returned useful results.

This was indeed that woman's Swift Tactics; at least the multi-point contact principle was the same, though Virus was reluctant to acknowledge it. Regardless, she knew that when applying this Skill, she fell far short of her opponent.
