Nova and Lunaris loomed on the borders of the D-rank goblin village, watching like predators, as they both were attracted to the eerie and strong pulse of mana in the center of the town.
Nova thought that the goblins had accidentally been able to get their hands on a special item that they couldn't tell the value of. He thought that the goblins weren't able to sense the strong mana emanating from the item, which didn't make sense, but he formed a theory that only beings past a current rank can feel the mana pool emanating from the item. Which also means that whatever they had hoarded, they couldn't use, since they weren't past the rank required to wield the item.
Lunaris stirred, mewing, as it followed Nova, who circled back and forth, trying to figure out a way to make his battle against the village interesting, since he was leagues above the power that surged through the village.
Maybe I can blindfold myself, Nova thought, but quickly dismissed the idea. Even if I blindfold myself, I can easily just sense them or see through the blindfold. What can I do so that the goblins have a chance, and it keeps the battle interesting? I wonder..."
Nova stirred back and forth, then his stomach growled, so with Lunaris jumping on his shoulder, they left the village in peace for a tad bit, since they both needed something to eat, for their "lunch," though he couldn't tell if it was lunch or breakfast time, but decided to eat as much as possible, since now he was on a "break" from the gym.
Nova tried to reach out to Freya, but he wasn't able to. As if something or someone had blocked his connection from getting through. He grew sad, but Lunaris cheered him up by licking his face. That currently put a smile on his face.
They hunted for a wild animal for food, but quickly found that no creature was near them. And he couldn't afford to eat any of the grotesque-looking creatures, since when he ate one for a midnight snack yesterday, he vomited profusely for an hour.
After a while of searching, with Lunaris' strong smell, they eventually found an animal that they killed and ate like wild animals. Lunaris took small bites, as Nova took bigger and vigorous bites, tearing through the meat as if it was going to escape from him.
After eating, they went to a water source, where they saw more creatures, friendly ones, and a couple of unfriendly ones, which weren't attacking anything, since they were resting, so Nova decided to take a bath with the rest of the creatures.
He played with Lunaris as another creature dumped a gallon of water on him, joining in on the fun. After playing with the other creatures, Lunaris and Nova headed back to the goblin village.
After a couple of minutes of walking, as Nova saw more of Beastaria, they approached the outskirts of the village, where they were camping for the treasure at the center of the village. Just as they approached, a couple of goblins jumped out, trying to ambush them, but Nova easily evaded all five of them with relative ease, yawning to show his disrespect.
The goblins snarled grotesquely at them, lunging back, but Nova simply feinted. Then, deciding to counterstrike, he punched a goblin square in the face, crushing every single bone, while the skin of the goblin came out, ripping apart from its body. The flesh trickled to the floor as the goblin swiftly died on the spot, only its bones remaining as the flesh evaporated.
Nova issued the other goblins to come towards him, which they saw as a threat and lunged at them, completely ignorant of the fact that one of them had just been reduced to bones not even a minute ago.
Nova dodged all the attacks, then decided to counterattack by going slightly above Mach fifty, and slapping, punching, kicking, and even doing nothing to one of the goblins, as it just fell, while the others died by just a punch.
After he dealt with all the goblins, he and Lunaris watched the village from the edge of the outskirt, to see that the entire civilization had burned. He didn't know what had happened, but as he zoomed his eyes further to inspect the chaos unfolding in the village, he saw that a group of creatures that looked like a mix of lizards and ants, with something that didn't exist on Earth, was slaughtering the goblins mercilessly.
As he saw the chaos, he saw the "boss" of these creatures, who was approaching the center of the village. Nova thought that these creatures had passed the threshold to see the eerie but strong mana-infused item at the center of the village.
"We have to stop them, Lunaris! They can't be taking that item. I won't let them. We have to retrieve it." Nova said firmly, as Lunaris just purred in response, climbing onto him.
Nova then leaped from where he was, creating a giant crater as he left, then jumped straight towards the big group of creatures. He killed one by just landing on it. The other ones startled, but they also got executed in less than a nanosecond, as Nova wasn't joking when he stated that he wanted it. Whatever it was, it was his.
Nova slowly walked towards the Boss of the creatures, as more poured in from every direction, trying to take him down. But he deftly evaded all of them, and even grabbed one of the creature's heads, crushing it instantly, then throwing the limp body towards the incoming bunch.
As more poured in, he felt irate, as he realized that there were way too many obstacles in his way that he hadn't accounted for, which he realized was his fault, realizing that he should have added a chaos factor into his equation, since he was now in an unknown chaotic place, which he had also not accounted for.
