Over The World, Beyond Heaven

Chapter 642: The History of the Ancient Creatures

From the fifth floor up to the sixth floor, it was not difficult. As long as the cultivators understood at least four parts of Heaven Energy, they could ascend to the sixth floor. Normally, the Heaven Energy on the fourth and fifth floors would be sufficient for dozens or even hundreds of cultivators to comprehend four parts of Heaven Energy. However, because Zheng-Fu had already absorbed a large amount, the remaining energy was only enough for a few dozen cultivators.

Zheng-Fu wasn't intentionally being selfish; he simply needed a lot of energy to advance to the next level. If he were truly mean-spirited, he wouldn't have left any energy behind, not even the energy waves and pressure on the stairs leading up to each floor of the tower.

Thump!!!

Woooooosh!!!

Aaaah!!!

"Why does this feel so refreshing!? I wonder if the main world has as much Heaven Energy as this place does," Zheng-Fu exclaimed happily after reaching the sixth floor. The testing period had only lasted two and a half days, yet he had already made it to the sixth floor.

"Kid, it seems you're not alone on this floor!" At that moment, the elder's voice echoed, sensing a faint energy signature from a creature on the floor.

Huh!?

"What is that?" Zheng-Fu turned abruptly and noticed something bound by a large chain in the corner. Puzzled, he approached it slowly to take a closer look. When he was close, what he saw previously from far away wasn't an ordinary creature—it was a massive, ancient-looking statue.

"What is this, Elder?" Zheng-Fu asked. He had never seen anything like it in his life, nor had he read or heard any stories about such a creature. He hoped the elder from the main world might know what it was.

"I don't know either. All I can tell is that it's not dead; it's just sleeping," the elder replied, surprised. He could only sense faint breathing and weak energy waves emanating from it.

"You don't know either!? Even an elder as knowledgeable as you have no idea? Then who else would know?" Zheng-Fu was shocked. He didn't expect the elder, who always claimed to know everything, to admit not knowing this thing so easily. It was truly unexpected.

"Although I know a lot, I don't know everything. The main world is vast, and there are still many unexplored regions. It's not surprising that there could be unknown creatures, including this one," the elder defended himself. Given that the main world was hundreds or even thousands of times larger than this small world, it wasn't unusual for there to be creatures he hadn't encountered before.

"All right, I understand. Just saying you don't know is enough; no need to say much. It sounds like an excuse, using obscure knowledge that others wouldn't know about," Zheng-Fu nodded slightly and told the old man to stop rambling on. He just wanted to know what this creature was. If he didn't know, just say he didn't know, that was all.

"I...!" The old man was left speechless after hearing Zheng-Fu's words because it was true, just as Zheng-Fu said—he had only given a lengthy explanation to make excuses for himself.

In the ancient pavilion...

"What is that, Master Wan-Shi?" Elder Ming-Ren asked curiously, and the other elders also turned to Elder Wan-Shi for answers.

"I don't know either. I have no idea how it got into the tower. We all inspected the tower together earlier and didn't find this creature. Now, this creature appears out of nowhere, right in front of that kid. We should be prepared for any emergencies," Elder Wan-Shi shook his head and said that he did not know what it was either, because previously there was nothing like this inside the sixth floor of the tower. But now, it had suddenly appeared. Regardless of what it might be, the old man was determined not to let it harm Zheng-Fu in any way.

"Are you planning to break the rules of the agreement that forbids aiding test participants, Elder Wan-Shi?" Suddenly, a voice filled with satisfaction rang out, accompanied by a pleased smile from Elder Hou-Shen, who was quietly watching the scene unfold. He had no idea what this creature was, but he was secretly hoping that Zheng-Fu would be dealt with by this strange being. He also mentioned the agreed-upon rules, reminding everyone of the pact they had made.

"We know the rules well. But this situation is different—it wasn't part of the agreement, and it's beyond our control. If this creature endangers the kid, I won't hesitate to intervene, even if it means going against you," Elder Ming-Ren retorted, clearly displeased with Elder Hou-Shen's words that they shouldn't help Zheng-Fu.

"It's not part of the agreement? How could it not be part of the agreement when Elder Wan-Shi himself prepared this tower? Therefore, whatever is inside the tower is part of the test. And if any of you think of going down to help that human boy, I will report this matter to the higher-ups. Then we'll see who's in the right and who's in the wrong! And when that time comes, I will become the one in charge here!"

Elder Hou-Shen spoke with great confidence, certain that he was correct. Even Elder Wan-Shi did not dare to argue back, as he had inspected this tower dozens of times and found nothing unusual within. Therefore, the tower was chosen as the test site for the cultivators.

Meanwhile, the creature bound by the large chain remained motionless and silent, barely breathing, as if it were on the brink of death.

"Hey! If you can speak, tell me who you are," Zheng-Fu called out. Since no one knew what this creature was, he decided to ask it directly.

"I'm… I'm… I'm in pain! I'm vengeful! I'll take revenge on all of them! They... they hurt me and kept me locked up here! Help me! Help me, please! And I'll grant you the greatest power, far beyond that of others!"

A deep, booming voice filled with resentment echoed from the huge, mysterious creature in front of Zheng-Fu. Only Zheng-Fu and the elder within his dimensional space could hear it.

"Here we go with this kind of trick again! You're trying to fool me into helping you, only to betray me later? I'm not that naive. I've already dealt with someone who tried this before!" Zheng-Fu scoffed, unfazed. Who would believe the words of a strange creature he'd just met?

"Kid, why are you mocking me? I haven't done anything to you yet!" The elder, hearing Zheng-Fu's remark, was startled, his expression changing because Zheng-Fu's words were clearly aimed at him.

"Not at all! I'm just speaking from experience. Lessons are meant to be remembered, not ignored," Zheng-Fu shrugged indifferently.

"Help me, please! If you help me, I'll give you immense power! You and I are destined for each other. For decades, I encountered many people in this tower, but none were my true match—only you! You are the one best suited to receive my power. All I ask is that you exact my revenge!" The large creature continued speaking through telepathy.

"Huh! And how do I know you're telling the truth?" Although Zheng-Fu suspected it was a ploy to lure him into a trap, he was still curious about the creature's history.

"I'll show you!"

Woooooosh!!!

Ah!!!

Before Zheng-Fu could react, the huge creature shot a beam of light faster than he could dodge. It pierced the center of his forehead and vanished into his mind. The scene before him dissolved, and Zheng-Fu unconsciously sat down in a meditative position.

Thump!!!

This event was witnessed by the seven elders in the ancient pavilion. However, none of them could see the creature's actions toward Zheng-Fu; they only heard his words. When they saw Zheng-Fu suddenly sit down cross-legged, Elder Wan-Shi's face turned pale with concern. The other elders from the Holy and Sacred sects, especially Elder Ming-Ren, were equally curious and prepared to intervene if necessary.

In a vast, forested area that Zheng-Fu had never seen before…

"Ah! Where is this place? How did I get here?" Zheng-Fu looked around, trying to make sense of his surroundings. He didn't recognize this place at all.

"This is an area in the main world, where my people, the Helm Race, once lived. We lived here peacefully, committing no crimes and causing no harm to anyone. But one day, that peace was shattered!"

Woooooosh!!!

As the creature spoke of a time of change, the scenery around Zheng-Fu shifted. The lush green forest transformed into a blazing inferno. Screams filled the air as creatures similar to the speaker, but smaller in size, ran from the raging sea of flames. Some were engulfed in fire as they fled; others were reduced to ashes. The most horrifying sight was of figures being disassembled and reassembled into grotesque, alternate forms.

"It was them! The cursed devils of the Celestial Inferno Devil Sect from the Western Territory. They destroyed my land, hoping to seize the magical treasures of the Helm Race. But they will never succeed. Even if I, the Helm Race Lord, perish in their hellfire, I will not surrender this miracle item to them. Though I am on the verge of death, my resentment is deep. I cannot rest. I've spent my final days searching for a worthy successor who can wield this miracle item and avenge me against the damn Celestial Inferno Devil Sect. And I believe you are the one!"

The creature's voice was filled with intense hatred and sorrow. Every word resonated with genuine emotion, and Zheng-Fu could sense that he was not lying. This was unlike the elder's tone when he had tricked Zheng-Fu into trading for herbs in the Heavenly Flora Garden. The elder's voice had been filled with greed and anticipation, and his gaze had been cunning. But back then, Zheng-Fu was still inexperienced, so he almost fell for the old man's trick...
