Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1259: The End of the Story (Part 3)

The butler's eyes flashed with disdain, clearly not believing what Lin Tian said, but Lin Tian didn't bother explaining. He reached out with a claw-like hand and grabbed the butler's head.

"What... what are you trying to do?" The butler felt uneasy as he looked at Lin Tian's eerie smile.

But the next moment, he had no time to feel uneasy. Purple flames surged from Lin Tian's palm, instantly engulfing the butler's head and quickly spreading downwards, turning the butler into a figure of fire.

With a scream escaping from the butler's mouth, as soon as he opened it, purple flames crawled inside, burning towards his internal organs.

Unable to even scream anymore, the butler could only roll on the ground. He didn't roll for long before gradually becoming still, with only the quiet burning of the purple flames occasionally emitting sizzling sounds.

Lin Tian waved, and the fire separated from the butler's body and returned to him. At this point, the butler was burnt even worse than Clark.

"Brother Tian, is he dead?" Rossi came over from behind and asked.

"He's not dead, but almost. There's still a breath in him." Lin Tian said coldly, then forced a drop of blood from his palm and dripped it into the butler's mouth.

The previously motionless butler suddenly twitched, the charred outer skin on his body continuously peeled off, and a few minutes later, a brand new butler was revived.

He suddenly opened his eyes and jumped up. The butler looked at his hands in confusion, asking, "Didn't I... didn't I die?"

"I revived you again." Lin Tian said indifferently.

"You..." The butler looked up at Lin Tian and turned to run, but after a few steps, his head was suddenly gripped by intense pain, as if someone was drilling outward from within with an electric drill.

The intense pain was unbearable even for this vampire; he clutched his head and rolled to the ground, screaming in agony.

"I revived you, and you think you can escape so easily? Answer my question earlier, and you might lessen your pain a bit." Lin Tian mocked coldly.

"Okay, I'll talk! I'm not Clark's subordinate; I'm there to spy on him." The butler said hastily. After he finished speaking, he found that his head indeed no longer pained, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Spying on Clark? Why?" Lin Tian asked puzzled.

The butler dared not hide anything and honestly said, "The clan's elder developed a new potion. Clark volunteered to take it, becoming a test subject for the new drug. I was there to monitor and observe, and all reactions must be reported to the elder."

"Your vampires already have great power, why develop combat potions?" Lin Tian frowned. The Blood Clan had always been arrogant, only trusting their power, yet now, like human Guardians, they're researching potions. It's astonishing.

The butler hesitated not one bit, instantly answering, "There are two reasons. Low-level Blood Clan members can't act under sunlight, which is a significant obstacle for the Blood Clan's development. Thus, the elders wanted to develop a potion that could enhance strength, allowing low-level Blood Clan members to act under sunlight."

"The other reason is due to the conflict between Blood Clan factions. The Blood Clan has had internal strife from ancient times. Clans compete for territory for survival. If we have combat potions, we can gain a greater advantage." The butler elaborated on the reasons.

"Heh... It seems the Blood Clan's ambition is not small." Lin Tian chuckled lightly, saying.

The butler cautiously replied, "We have no choice. Besides internal strife, the Blood Clan also faces the Guardians' hunts. If we remain bound by traditions, we will be exterminated eventually."

"You indeed have foresight, no longer being stuck in your ways. Which clan are you from?" Lin Tian asked.

"The Sinmore Clan," the butler respectfully answered.

"The Sinmore Clan?" Rossi suddenly spoke, his tone tinged with surprise.

Lin Tian turned to look at him, puzzled, and said, "Why are you so surprised by this clan?"

"Brother Tian, the clan I previously belonged to was the Sinmore Clan," Rossi answered.

"I see." Lin Tian suddenly understood. The Sinmore Clan had previously dispatched the Blood Clan to Huaxia to search for the Purple Flame Gold Sword. Now they're researching combat potions. This is not a peaceful clan.

"You guys?" The butler was caught off guard by Rossi's words, for they both belonged to the same clan.

Lin Tian shot him a glance and calmly warned, "Don't ask what you shouldn't. Answer honestly, why did you come here to these ruins alone?"

"I am..." The typically open butler hesitated and didn't continue.

"Hm?" Lin Tian simply grunted lightly.

The butler's body shook, frightened, and quickly said, "I came here to activate the curse."

"What did you say! Wasn't the curse ritual a failure? Didn't Clark die? What curse remains?" Lin Tian frowned with a hard glance at the butler, seemingly ready to extinguish him if he misspeaks a single word.

The butler nervously said, "The curse was irrevocable from the start because Clark never planned to survive. As soon as the curse started, he would sacrifice himself, using his power as the source to drive the curse witchcraft."

"So, whether you kill him or not, the result is the same. If you can't defeat Clark, the curse witchcraft will have a few more sacrifices, or if you kill Clark, his power after death will still be consumed by the curse witchcraft. No matter what, the curse is destined to activate." The butler explained at length, emphasizing that everything was already too late; the curse had commenced.

"But he didn't successfully acquire the residents' bloodline during the curse ritual," Lin Tian still had this last question.

The butler quickly replied, "A complete curse witchcraft simultaneously affects the land and people of Sorlin Castle. The curse ritual didn't complete, thus the curse witchcraft remains incomplete. Now the curse can only affect the land. Not long from now, Sorlin Castle will become a barren place."

"Brother Tian, what do we do?" Rossi asked.

"What else can be done? They have only one way out: relocate. Alas, the sins committed sixty years ago have their retribution. They should be thankful the people weren't cursed. Honestly, I don't have any affection for this place." Lin Tian shook his head slightly, lamenting, "Let's return and inform Reina and Mark, let them handle it."

"What about this butler?" Rossi looked at the butler and asked.

The butler watched Lin Tian nervously; his life was in Lin Tian's hands now.

"Butler, go find a place to settle in Wudu and wait for my next order. But don't think of running away because I can make living impossible and dying unattainable for you, as you just experienced." Lin Tian commanded.

"Mr. Lin, rest assured, as long as you don't kill me, I'm willing to follow any orders." The butler lowered his head and respectfully said to Lin Tian.
