Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 442: Busy 2

Only an eerie empty city remains.

"Don't worry, this is where the audience used to enter the city, there are documents, no danger will be triggered."

Wuyou waved his hand, retrieving the documents hovering before the giant arch, and stepped first onto the ground, unscathed.

At this moment, on the other half of the plaza, all the outsiders raised their heads, gazing at the hundreds of meters high magnificent arch, and when facing the many decorations that remained lavish to the point of suffocation after countless years of wear and tear, they couldn't help but hold their breath.

It's like coming to the giant's homeland.

Big, too big, unsettlingly big.

Yet, everything visible, whether it's the tiles at your feet, the stone carvings on the plaza, or every building, is so exquisite it's hard to believe.

Even the seams between the stone bricks are smeared with dazzling gold, and the stones underfoot are carved full of complex floral patterns, but after four or five hundred years have passed, dust has covered them all, yet they still bring stifling beauty.

No one knows how many people, through how many years, poured all their heart and energy, tirelessly beautifying every detail, dedicating a lifetime's insistence over several generations to this grand work, giving everything.

Finally, only a few bricks were created at the entrance of this temple...

Never having witnessed the Eternal Empire at its peak, yet this luxury and material already instinctively make one tremble.

Mere restraint from pulling down a couple of bricks is already commendable.

Mostly out of fear of death...

Who knows what consequences might be triggered after pulling them down?

Besides, at this moment, the innumerable buildings in front are already jumbled into a mess, like a twisted Rubik's cube, chaotic and randomly pieced together, even in the outsiders' gaze, changing at a visible speed...

The chaotic, mutated Heavenly Essence Power has already infiltrated every corner; being caught a little off guard inside, who knows what one might turn into.

After all, there's already a glaring precedent before everyone's eyes...

Here, the 'natives'!

Among the crumbling and twisted buildings, on the roads, and even behind cracks and windows, faintly visible, blurry human figures could be glimpsed.

Like shadows detached from the ground, replacing their original selves.

Twitching and flickering, appearing and disappearing.

Some sit motionless, while others crawl around like they're dancing frantically, some appear and vanish without a trace.

Like silhouettes left behind by the scenes once here.

Others still... like hanging themselves, detached from the ground, suspended by black threads, rising to the heavens, plummeting towards the eerily dark deep sea looming above.

As the wind sways them, faint laughter and praise seem to echo through the wind.

"This... What is this..."

Among the crowd, a mutated monk with one bare arm, just upon glancing at the sight here, felt intense pain in his eyes.

His pale golden eyes involuntarily shed bloody tears, and then a sheet of darkness, seeing nothing.

Howling in vain, crouched into a ball.

Reaching out for help, people nearby cautiously spread apart; even companions wishing to assist were blocked by Wuyou.

Until the abrupt cessation of screams, the body was shriveled into a ball as if every bit of life and blood were drained by something invisible, posing an obeisance as if worshiping at the moment of death.

Snap!

A crisp sound, something wriggling beneath the bare back, tearing apart the corpse, the deceased's face rose from the split in the back with an eerie smile.

Then, under the stunned gazes of all, beneath the face, strands of floating tentacles extended...

A jellyfish-like bizarre human face, with a blissful smile, slowly ascended to the sky, not even glancing at its former body, laughing devoutly, merging into the holy song and praise in the sky.

"Wuyou, what is happening here!" The monk leader frowned: "Didn't you say it's safe here?"

"Seeking death on their own!"

Wuyou glanced emotionlessly at the mutated transformations behind him that didn't belong to his subordinates: "I warned you all, don't look around, don't touch anything!"

"Do you think it's only you who have the ether eye?"

He warned finally: "The weight of the temple's domain is equivalent to the Empire palace prohibition, no transgressions allowed, understood!"

For a moment, in the silence, no one argued further.

Even if there were, the Tower's contract has been signed, and without Wuyou leading them, they all might die here without finding their way out.

Even Wuyou, at the forefront now, seemed to be facing a formidable enemy.

Avoiding numerous silhouettes, deciphering texts and marks on the road, occasionally hesitating, retracing steps unexpectedly after walking a distance on a path.

After a good while, only managed to pass through a few streets.

Under the bizarre power of the temple, not only gravity and rules, but even time seemed distorted.

Exclamations arose as someone looked up towards another fork, shocked and pale.

They saw another group unknowingly walked out from that road...those appearances and attire unmistakably were themselves from just fifteen minutes ago!

Someone inadvertently crossing a line, stepping onto a building's stairs, in an instant, half the body was gone, smashed into a pulp by invisible forces!
