Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 340: The Deadbeat and the Sea

"What a damn beautiful thought, this bastard!"

On the helicopter over the open sea, Lu Feng smoked, watching the speedboat racing among the waves below—a large vessel fully loaded with fuel, riding the wind and waves.

With five engines crammed in its rear, like a drugged lunatic, it soared and spewed in the storm.

Luckily, Yin Chaoyang, that bastard, managed to drive it.

If not for some effort, they would've almost lost track.

"At this speed, it could hit Lu Island by tomorrow after a few stops at deserted islands."

The guy flying the plane glanced up, "There are two high-risk targets on the ship, probably hired bodyguards. You think you can handle it with your guys?"

"Hey, wanna bet?"

Lu Feng laughed, "Eight hundred bucks?"

The pilot rudely gave him the middle finger without turning back, "Screw you, I've barely earned this crap, get lost!"

"All right, let's get to work."

Lu Feng spat out the cigarette butt, pulled the bolt, and gestured to both sides. On the helicopter, several 'guards' with oil-painted faces grinned silently and put on their masks.

With a bang, the helicopter door opened, letting in a rush of wind.

Searchlights freely shone down, locking onto the terrified, speeding vessel.

The speedboat, clearly aware of the helicopter trailing behind, surged again, racing crazily.

"All right, let's give our guests a little appetizer."

Lu Feng stretched his hand back, taking a shoulder-launched rocket from his teammate, skillfully activating it, tilting his head, aiming at the heat source, locking on.

"Go for it!"

Amidst the roaring wind, there's a sudden muffled sound, like a fart.

Then, the fire burst forth, shooting out fast.

The rocket comes down from the sky!

At this moment, witnessing the oncoming rocket, the Chosen One on the speedboat showed a dismissive expression and raised his hand remotely, instantly causing countless layers of waves to surge up in front, blocking the path.

Brilliant light erupted, amidst the explosion, crimson flames spread.

Then, the Chosen One heard... the scarlet iron light whistling through the fierce flames and roar!

Countless fragments of corrupted metal scattered from the shockwave, breaking through the layers of water defenses and constraints with bamboo-splitting momentum, as rain poured down.

The sound of breaking was constant.

Screams, the Chosen One exploded on the spot, along with the speedboat being overturned, rolling violently on the sea, losing power.

"Damn, that's intense."

Lu Feng beamed, "Old Lu made some fun stuff this time... Again, again!"

"Just one shot, nothing left!"

"Tsk..."

Lu Feng shook his head, muttering about how stingy he was, grabbed the machine gun hanging by the door, and, with night vision goggles, played a guessing game with another Chosen One riding the waves.

To be precise, he was drawing a heart with machine-gun fire, seeing if the other could recognize it.

Sadly, it wasn't recognized.

With 160 Alchemy Bullets per second pouring out, the two ammo belts swept through, leaving no trace of little calami.

Directly blasted them apart.

"Is this the end?" Lu Feng, still unsatisfied, fired a few more shots, reluctantly sighing, "No challenge at all, what the heck are these guys doing now?"

"Enough of that!"

Laila couldn't stand it anymore, elbowed him sharply, "Damn it, I've barely earned some money, all taken by your brother, and after it's all done, you dog took it all, you two never seem to get involved in anything with humanity, huh!"

"Then bring some Power Armor, even if not Break Army, at least Spark! That's why if the boss is inept, everything's inept... damn, let him cover the cost! Reimburse! Reimburse! Get him to reimburse you later!"

"Shut up!"

Laila hadn't finished cursing when the entire helicopter suddenly lost speed, spinning downwards from the sky.

"You crooked—"

Before he finished speaking, a strange beam shot up from the sea surface, grazed the tail of the helicopter, then disappeared into the night sky. Immediately afterward, another beam rose again, like a living thing, spinning mid-air, chasing the helicopter's maneuvers, descent, and ascension head-on.

"High risk!" Crooked yelled, "Another one, another high risk!"

The control stick was suddenly pulled up, his arms bulged with veins, but it was too late to change direction; the blazing Flame Light had locked onto the cabin, shrieking towards it!

Boom!!!

Without warning, it exploded into scarlet flames in mid-air.

The torrential wind spread, blowing scorching hot air onto the face, burning painfully.

"Great shot!" Crooked shouted joyfully.

"Shut it—"

Laila dared not lower her gun, scanning the sea with the sniper scope, nothing visible amidst the surging black waves: "Where are they?! Thermal imaging can't find them."

"They're hiding in the sea, of course thermal imaging can't find... they're holding their breath playing hide-and-seek with you."

Only when Lu Feng's voice sounded over the channel did Laila suddenly realize: Lu Feng had disappeared!

Bang!

The sound of gunfire erupted from below the helicopter.

Outside the open cabin door, a shadow clenched a hand on the landing gear, like a leaf drifting with the wind. Amidst numerous maneuvers and turns, it swung unsteadily.

Flame and light streamed from the sea, continuous and mournful.

Explosions flashed on and off, and from beginning to end, the handgun pointing at the sea surface remained steady as a rock, unwavering amidst tremors and maneuvers.

The muzzle swept inch by inch over the tides and waves.

Seemingly triggering randomly, with an occasional pull of the trigger, the bullets flew like headless flies, disappearing silently into the sea. Only the hot stream of light continually shot up towards the helicopter above, getting faster and faster, Laila unable to stop it.

Yet in that one moment, the continuous stream of light firing from under the sea paused momentarily.

In the nearly frozen time, across the waves and darkness, the Chosen One hidden in the seawater was stunned—for a brief few seconds...

In the erupting and spreading flame light, those pitch-black pupils had locked onto the source of the attack.

There was no killing intent, no ferocity, not even a hint of casual or playful expression.

Like eating, drinking, yawning, farting.

Calmly chilling.

Lu Feng said, "Found it."

Then, he pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The last specially crafted silver bullet shot out from the barrel.

It pierced through the layers of Flame Light rising from the ocean, like a straight silver thread, piercing through red cotton and blood strands, disappearing into the darkness.

From then on, the surface of the sea remained dead silent, without a sound.

"Target eliminated."

"Descend, faster!" Laila picked up the binoculars and glanced at the distant sea surface, "A patrol boat has been attracted, likely from the border defense of the Six Cities."

An inflatable dinghy was thrown down from the helicopter, and soon, several people slid down the ropes, skillfully paddling to the side of the large wreck.

Lu Feng raised his hand and knocked on the upside-down hull resting on the sea.

"Is anyone there?" he curiously asked, "If no one's there, I'll start—"

Bang!

A sudden shot, without warning, punched a big hole in the hull, revealing a face bleached by the cold seawater.

At this moment, seeing Lu Feng's face, it plunged into a stupor, with only the pupils instantly shrinking into needles, trembling in terror.

"Yin Chaoyang, Mr. Yin, right?"

Lu Feng leaned over to scrutinize, comparing with the photo on his phone, "Do you recognize me?"

"Have mercy, wait a second..."

Yin Chaoyang's lips trembled, so cold he could barely speak.

Yet, with Lu Feng's gun aiming at him, he still desperately tried to dodge, nearly submerging into the water, coughing but too scared to resurface.

Until Lu Feng split the hull with an axe, grabbed him, and dragged him onto the inflatable dinghy.

"Wait a second, I have money, money, I..."

Smack!

Laila slapped him backward, then shoved a piece of broken hull plank into his mouth, "Bite it, drop it and it'll cost your life!"

Then, she pulled out duct tape, wrapped it several times around him to seal him.

The rest had already searched him, retrieving quite a bit of loose items, and took out cable ties to bind him tightly, like tying a hog.

Yin Chaoyang continued to struggle in terror, making muffled sounds.

Unfortunately, soaked to the skin, it was impossible to discern if he had wet himself.

Escaping all the way, fleeing from place to place, barely out of the Federation, the Lu Island of the Thousand Island Region was already within reach, yet he died at the doorstep.

Just a little, just a little!

Bang!

Blinding lights suddenly shone from the distance over the sea.

"Everyone, drop your weapons! Drop your weapons!!!"

From the distant ship, someone shouted repeatedly in Federation and Empire languages, "This is the Six Islands patrol, submit to inspection!"

Laila indifferently pulled the gun bolt and raised the muzzle.

But she was stopped by Lu Feng.

He suspiciously listened.

"Hmm!! Hmm!!"

Upon hearing, Yin Chaoyang's eyes widened, frantically flailing, tears nearly streaming. If it weren't for the tape over his mouth, he would've started pleading for help.

Soon, the patrol boat approached and launched two dinghies rushing over.

The soldiers on the boat raised their weapons, aiming at them, fully prepared.

In the chilling silence, Yin Chaoyang struggled even harder.

The leader, holding a flashlight, rudely shone it on Lu Feng's face.

"Where are you from? What are you doing?"

A cold voice questioned head-on, "Do you recognize your father?!"

"F*ck you!"

Lu Feng rolled his eyes and raised his middle finger.

"Old Lu? It really is you, you bastard... damn, long time no see!"

The newcomer burst into laughter, lowered the flashlight, revealing a face with shrapnel scars, a major's rank on his shoulder, grinning widely, "Heard you retired to fix cars, almost believed it... is this going back to old business?"

"Just helping catch a debtor on the run, nothing much."

Lu Feng fumbled his pockets, finding nothing, unconcerned about the guns pointed at him, and directly reached out, "Got a smoke?"

The major shook his head, not believing, but still pulled a brass tube from his pocket and tossed it over, "Lucky you, it's prime Central Earth tobacco, just nabbed yesterday."

Lu Feng bit off a piece, lit it, and smoothly pocketed the other's lighter, flowing naturally, and finally waved:

"Alright, no more business here, off you go."

"Got time for a drink?"

"Not this time, maybe!"

Before leaving, the major handed over a business card, saying, "The world's tough, let's do business together, don't hog it all." Then turned and drove the boat away.

From start to finish... never even glanced at Yin Chaoyang!

"Hmm!! Hmm!!!!"

Yin Chaoyang desperately raised his head, watching that ship sail into the darkness, his heart completely sinking to the bottom of the sea.

"Alright, let's go, Mr. Yin, I have many friends to introduce to you."

Lu Feng bit the cigar, grabbed the rope with one hand, and hoisted the hog with the other, finally looking down, giving him a 'gentle' smile, "Let's go to a happy place together!"

The helicopter rose into the sky, disappearing into the dark clouds.

Leaving only the wreckage in the sea, gradually sinking in the foam and waves, never to be seen again.

.

Ten minutes later, Ji Jue received the news.
