Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 45 Escape_2

It serenely embraced death and scrappage, with no regrets.

Only wisps of spiritual essence flowed out from the barrel, effortlessly blending into Ji Jue's abilities, instantly making the emblem of the Superior crowd brighter and more intricate.

His experience bar massively increased!

"Phew..."

Ji Jue slowly released his hold, carefully dismantled it, and put it back into the bag, having promised Laila to return it exactly as it was borrowed.

Then, he heard returning footsteps.

"You're so slow, Feng bro," he complained.

"You can't blame me."

Lu Feng dragged a lifeless Jiang Jin, panting, "This old guy runs damn fast, as agile as a freaking athlete; I almost didn't catch up."

"The other one?" Ji Jue asked.

"Ran away?" Lu Feng answered nonchalantly, "Judging by his complexion, probably a Central Earth person. He got scared shitless at the sight of Power Armor weapons. Since the Federation and Empire folks arrived, the locals don't scare their kids at night with tales of monsters anymore. They've seen too much on the battlefield, too seasoned, can't stop them if they choose to run."

"Lucky indeed."

Ji Jue sighed, looking down at the ruins and the corpses, and the elderly face smeared with dirt and smiled brightly, "Mr. Jiang Jin, right?"

Jiang Jin's expression twitched, his white hair hanging down from his forehead, blood-stained, in such a sorry state.

"If you wanted me, you could have just come for me. Why cause all this fuss?"

Ji Jue counted on his fingers, "Look, so many people died because of you...one, two, three, four...at least seventeen or eighteen, right?"

"You have no idea what you're doing!"

Jiang Jin clenched his teeth, his voice squeezed from his throat, "You won't get away, Ji Jue!"

"Why would I run?"

Ji Jue laughed curiously, "In Cliff City, I have a family, a mentor, and a backing. Why would I run? Besides, shouldn't you be the one running— even if I don't kill you, do you think you'll survive until tomorrow morning?"

For a moment, Jiang Jin's face turned ashen.

Especially when he saw Ji Jue holding his phone, meticulously taking photos of him, his heart sunk completely.

After so many years, doing so many shady things, it wasn't an exaggeration to say he warranted heaven's wrath and human resentment. Once he lost power, not even his backers might want to help him out, and certainly, his peers would kick him while he's down, just like he used to...

He wouldn't live till tomorrow morning.

That wasn't an empty threat.

But a true reflection of his fate.

"So, run, Jiang Jin."

Ji Jue encouraged with a smile, patted his shoulder, earnestly, "Get moving, let us brothers see how far you can run."

Jiang Jin's expression changed drastically, almost wanting to curse or rebuke, but when Ji Jue's gun pointed at his face, he ultimately remained silent, biting his teeth as he scrambled up from the ground, and frantically sprinted toward the door.

Bang!

A sharp scream echoed as the running Jiang Jin fell to the ground, wailing and cursing, clutching his shattered knee.

"Come on, Teacher Jiang!"

The instigator Ji Jue's smile brightened, waving his handgun enthusiastically, "A true warrior isn't felled by momentary setbacks. Stand brave, hurry, faster... or else, you're going to die!"

Bang!

Another bullet hit the side of his head, shattering his ear.

Jiang Jin wailed, dragging his broken leg, straining to crawl forward, but soon after, another gunshot rang out, toppling him to the ground, flailing helplessly.

This time, it was the right leg.

Lu Feng whistled, dispersing the smoke from the gun barrel, "What do you think, how long till he reaches the door?"

"I don't know," Ji Jue shook his head, perceiving his idea, obliging good-naturedly, "Wanna bet on it? Fifty bucks, I say ten minutes."

"Count me in!"

Lu Feng grinned, raising his gun, "My bet is he won't make it to the door."

"Hey, Jiang Jin, did you hear that?"

Ji Jue raised his voice, shouting, "You have to keep pushing, don't be scared. The comics say, 'effort + friendship = victory'! Believe in yourself, you can do it!"

"Aaaahhhhhhh—"

Jiang Jin screamed heartrendingly in the pool of blood, wailing, cursing, using every bit of profanity and threat he knew.

Boom!

Lu Feng pulled the trigger again, this time with his left hand, carving a bloody hole through his palm, tearing tendons and breaking bones.

"I knew you were going to cheat."

Ji Jue sighed and raised his hand, also aimed, and shot at Jiang Jin's right hand!

Now, with all four limbs gone, bad news.

The good news, however, is that he could still squirm twice in his own blood, wailing and rolling forward.

Like a lost child who couldn't find his mother.

"It seems you've lost."

Lu Feng shook his head and, for the last time, pulled the trigger.

He aimed at his head.

At that very instant, a sneering sound filled the air,

Deep yet suddenly erupting into a definite... Thunderbolt crash!

It nearly made them forget to breathe.

Blinding lightning burst from the night sky, racing down in an instant, bringing with it fierce winds and loud noises. Amid this turbulent shock, a figure appeared unexpectedly from within the Thunderbolt, raising his hand.

Nonchalantly, he caught the flying bullet.

With a flash of lightning,

Between his fingers, molten copper dripped slowly.

And his closing fingers were completely unharmed.

—Entropy Series, Matrix·Awakening!

At this moment, the newcomer's slender, cold eyes slowly lifted, surveying the surroundings, and when his gaze finally fell on them, recognition flashed.

Seeing the newcomer, Jiang Jin, as if he had found a backbone, burst into elated howls, like a loyal dog seeing its master. If not for the loss of his limbs, he would almost have pounced: "Group Leader Yu, save me... I, I..."

"Shut up."

Yu Hanguang glanced at the embarrassing mess on the ground, then turned to look at Ji Jue, sighing softly, "As expected, a little bastard who only causes trouble."

Without any warning, without any gap,

He reached out his hand, pointing.

Over ten meters away.

Yet within the broken space, it was already filled with infinite Thunderbolt, thunder roaring loudly, a radiant light converging, rushing toward him, howling.

In an instant, it completely engulfed the two of them!

No remains were left!

Unfortunately, there were.

Ji Jue hadn't even lost a single hair, nor had Lu Feng, who yawned, feeling an itch in his nose.

And on their collars, an unassuming Crystal Stone button, silently shattered, crystal growing, turning into magnificent, sharp petals.

Effortlessly, it halted and froze the chaotic Thunderbolt in front of them!

—Ruins Path·Static Zone!

At that moment, Ji Jue finally relaxed, his twitching calf muscles calming down.

They were safe.

He looked towards the entrance, "Sister Wen, if you don't come soon, we might just surrender."

"Patience is what lands the big fish, isn't that what you said?"

Along with the words, Wen Wen emerged from the dancing Dust, looking at Yu Hanguang, whose expression paused, with a smirk, "Group Leader Yu, what a coincidence meeting you here?"

Yu Hanguang's expression changed, but he remained silent.

"If I remember correctly, Northern Mountain is my jurisdiction," she tilted her head, curiously asking, "Since when did Lihua District get involved?"

Her slender fingers clenched tightly, knuckles rubbing, making a sound like crystals breaking.

She coldly asked,

"Aren't you going to explain?"
