Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 263: The Calamity of No Light

The narrow basement echoed with loud booms.

In just a moment, the generator overloaded, the makeshift engine pressurized, power transmission, hydraulic buildup, and from that incredibly crude exoskeleton, scorching heat leaked out. Ferocious power transmitted amidst the grating sounds of screeching metal, causing the reinforced steel on the shoulders to crack and break, overwhelmed by the burden.

And that absurdly large howling hammer came crashing down with Ji Jue's swing!

A wave of air expanded in all directions, along with viscous blood spraying everywhere.

As if smashing a tomato.

The mutant that had just breached the door saw nothing but blackness, literally, then another darkness followed as it was unable to react after taking a full hit from Ji Jue's hammer, only to be swept aside and sent flying into the wall, creating another booming crack.

In pain, the mutant, made up of countless limbs, let out a rage-filled howl, its limbs flailing wildly, haphazardly propping up its body and quickly recovering.

Originally just a mass of mangled flesh, Ji Jue's two hammer strikes had practically given it a makeover.

Now, eyes opened all over its 'shoulders,' 'waist,' and 'six legs,' and it lunged without any sign or preparation!

The speed was astounding.

Like a mirage, it closed in instantly.

Ji Jue barely had time to raise the cumbersome hammer before its vital neck and head were exposed to the gaping maw that opened suddenly from its chest.

Then...

With a "Bia~" sound!

The entire mutant splattered against the enormous shield that had seemingly appeared from nowhere in Ji Jue's other hand, with sharp spikes welded on it piercing through its limbs and out its back.

As if it had a death wish.

Now, it realized, with whatever reasoning ability it might have lacked, that the absurdly large shield in Ji Jue's hand... was actually the door that had just been sealing the wall!

With a pre-set connection, just a slight pull, the intentionally damaged door bolt completely fell off.

Then, drawing the massive iron door into his hand with cables twisted from layers of iron wires, it transformed into a shield large enough to cover Ji Jue completely.

And the sharp scraps welded to the back of the door served as the perfect gift to the mutant.

In a fleeting moment, the mutant didn't even have time to react as it got stuck. Immediately after, the hammer charged, and the demon fixed to the hammerhead gave an ecstatic shriek, slamming into its 'companion' stuck on the shield!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The iron door shook violently, dislodging countless scraps of flesh and blood.

The struggling monstrosity kept releasing venom and bullet-like spikes randomly, but couldn't hit Ji Jue. Even the occasional bone spikes that did hit were blocked by the iron sheet covering his protective suit.

Yes, that sheet was dismantled from a drum in the room.

With its intact coating and excellent quality, the drum designed to hold high-risk chemicals had no trouble blocking bone spikes.

Each hammer strike powerfully tore off large chunks of flesh from the mutant. From the hammer's head, tendrils extended, entangling the mutant's body, sucking blood, gnawing on meat and bones, not allowing it to easily escape or break free!

Peers often wish death on one another, and mutants were no exception.

Continuous wails filled the air.

Numerous mouths opened and closed, more screams bursting forth.

The massive mutant was nearly sliced in half.

In its fierce struggle, it finally tore free from the piercing steel pipes and iron scraps. Then, with a sickening sound of tearing flesh, it forcefully broke away from the restraints of the hammer and shield. Although heavily damaged, the mutant did not dare attack the close-at-hand Ji Jue again.

Instead, it began to crawl frantically across the floor.

Unprecedented fear and panic surfaced in its mind, making it doubt whether it or Ji Jue was the true abominable creature...

Upon realizing it couldn't win, it abandoned even its lower half, dragging a mess of proliferating flesh, it turned and fled out of the basement.

It ran!

Ji Jue was furious.

"Run? You're not allowed to run!"

I used so much effort and materials, barely getting you to low health, and now you want to run after dropping just a few things?

What happened to a fair and square duel?!

But he couldn't catch it.

The makeshift transmission structure was rushed, crude from top to bottom, barely allowing him to swing the hammer. As for his legs, they were already struggling to support the hundred-plus pounds of weight, let alone providing any nonexistent movement capability.

Ji Jue could only sigh helplessly.

Then, he stepped on the pedal beside him.

In an instant, the taut wires snapped, followed by crisp explosions...

Right in front of the door-frame, now without a door.

Above the doorway, a suspended compression tank suddenly burst open, punctured by sharp, rusted iron spikes.

Sticky foam gushed out, followed by an explosion.
