Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 243: Beautiful Dreams and Illusory Lights_3

He let go of the heavy burden bestowed by Tao Gong, allowing it to fall from his hands.

The vast heavenly light poured down like a torrential rain, right at the deepest part of Spring City. The Heavenly Origin Decree granted by Tao Gong spread like a tide, its radiance crisscrossing in an instant, stripping away all remnants of the Evil Cult and severing all traces of the Great Calamity.

Thus, the outcome of victory and defeat was settled!

But with the release of this heavy shackle, the aura of the Great Calamity rose and changed, magnificently expanding. As he slowly got up, an infinite rainbow light gathered again, enveloping everything.

Even though he was severely injured, that cruel and fierce spirit seemed even more intense than before!

"The greatness of Tian Yuan, the gravity of the present world... Tao Gong, I have learned my lesson!"

He reached out, touching the crack on his chest—the Heavenly Origin's injury that had penetrated the body of the Great Calamity—but he was reluctant to wipe it away. He looked back, gazing skyward, "Thank you all for waiting so long. I wonder who would like to show me their prowess next?"

The newcomers remained silent.

Chilling gazes were cast down from above the sky, indifferently overlooking.

Lou Family, Tong Family, Jiang Family, Yu Family, and even the Ji Family from Central City, the Li Family from Huang Province... More than a dozen Heavenly People appeared here, their intent to kill ferocious!

As the mutation of Spring City collapsed prematurely, revealing the outcome of the wager, Tian Yuan won it all. The Federation's forces of Great Calamity faced a massive defeat, dispersing into disarray, and those who had placed heavy bets or watched eagerly gained nothing and could only leave in frustration.

Just as if it were the natural flow of Heavenly Destiny, Lu Changsheng, having hidden his subordinates for decades preparing for this day, suddenly became the key player capable of determining the future of the world.

If only he could succeed in one fell swoop, countless calamities would come to him, making him the spokesperson of the world's Vortex without question. But today, he had lost everything in one day and obviously had no more aid or luck to speak of.

But one thing remained unchanged... As long as he was still alive, as long as he still breathed, he would be a scourge of the present world!

The time for reckoning had come.

In that instant, thunder startled him, and rainbow light surged.

From within his mad laughter, the worldly corruption transformed again, boldly ascending to the sky, and without any hesitation, he crashed headlong into the net that had long been prepared for him!

A path leading to his demise!

In a flash, after the storm clouds dissipated, in the chaotic night sky, multicolored lights shifted, fierce winds roared, and intense light collided, spreading a spine-chilling torrent of spiritual energy in all directions.

From his manic laughter, that burning, bizarre rainbow light clashed left and right, fiercely colliding, blood like torrential rain poured down, but before it could hit the ground, it was completely evaporated.

In an instant, countless Circle Realms and Time Wedges were locked down, enveloping the rainbow light that wildly swirled and was crushed and annihilated bit by bit.

Finally, between the burning cluster of stars, a pair of vast, majestic eyes slowly opened.

Looking down.

Merely gazing, it seemed to make the stars stagnate, all creations freeze, everything turned into dust and ants, no longer able to oppose the presence of the Power of Superior.

That was the pinnacle of the Heavenly Origin Path, the incarnation of the Power of Superior manifested from the mortal world.

——So-called, "Heavenly Governor"!

And then, the ultimate penalty descended.

The myriad rainbow light froze, coming to a standstill.

After that, the hoarse laughter abruptly stopped, and in the dead silence, the body of the Great Calamity shattered, its soul obliterated, completely erased from the world...

Never to be seen again.

In the dead silence, the Eye of the Sky Governor swept across the mortal world, paused for a moment above the Sky Rail, then nonchalantly moved away, and finally indifferently closed, disappearing from sight.

The various Heavenly People dispersed.

All anomalies vanished, as if nothing had ever happened.

It was hard to imagine that just moments ago, this place held a presumptuous being who wanted to stir up the mortal world, an ambitious person desiring to leap out of the chessboard and control Heavenly Destiny...

"With such great power, why wait until now?"

Ji Jue stood at the broken window, gazing at the empty night sky, and raised his head to ask, "If the mortal world is like a chess game, is it really so exhilarating to play?"

No one responded.

It was as if the perplexed words of Dust were too trivial to be heard.

Or perhaps, Heavenly Destiny was too lofty to respond.

Ji Jue closed his eyes.

When everything had come to an end, the life-and-death struggles ceased.

Spring City fell back into silence, redemption or downfall had come and gone, but the ruins remained just ruins.

Only the final cries dissipated in the distant wind.

Among the broken streets and collapsed bricks and stones, the monsters wandered in their old homes with nowhere to go. Yet at that moment, nothing seemed to matter anymore.

From the sharp, grating noises, they moved their bodies, stepping out of the shadows.

The grotesque faces still dripped with blood, their claws entangled with corpses.

At that moment, however, they gazed upward, looking towards the sky, that dreamlike twinkling glow.

In the comforting expanse of the night, specks of starlight twinkled, merging together into a vast river, flowing toward some unknown destination.

Looking down upon the earthly realm, they sprinkled gentle, clear flashes.

Thread by thread, they came together.

Like a gentle caress.

Illuminating those faces filled with madness and pain.

Those crimson eyes seemed to be pained by the gentle light, retreating in terror, shrinking back yet reluctant to leave.

Only the black tears slowly slid down, falling into the dust.

There was light.

Endless resentments burned out in the long darkness, and as the overly prolonged nightmare came to an end, the departed souls stared blankly at the stars, filled with fear yet mesmerized.

Even though they could not see the sun.

In the silence, a fragmented voice arose again.

When the gift of miracle had ended, winding cracks emerged from the rusted steel, broken bodies gradually crumbled, plummeting to the ground; in their final moments, the monsters raised their heads, bellowing toward that lonely figure above the sky.

Tears ran out, and the crying ceased.

When the end came, why did that sound seem almost like laughter?

Ji Jue fell silent.

On the screen, as the countdown slowly reached its end, he reached out once again toward the silent world.

One last time, he harnessed the power of the Sky Rail.

Soft ripples spread.

One by one, street lamps struggled to light up again, illuminating cobwebs, dust, and all that was broken.

Gentle light stretched out from the battered streets, walking through the empty alleys, lighting up the silent malls and shattered buildings. Dusty plastic mannequins stood in the display windows, proudly showcasing dust-covered skirts. In the cubicles of office buildings, dim, faded documents fluttered slightly in the breeze.

Under the night sky, the neon lights were like a tide.

From the lights, everything seemed to revert to its original state, skyscrapers stood tall, plants were lush, and from the distance came a moist and cool breeze. It seemed as if the noisy voices once again rose from above the streets, an invisible crowd moved through, the sounds of horns spreading, cars sped on the broad roads.

The rain of suffering and despair had ceased.

At the end of this fantastical dream, glory restored.

Ji Jue raised his hand, wiping the moist trace from the corner of his eye, looking at all he had created.

Thus, he too, started to laugh softly.

"How beautiful this world is."
