Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 227: That's What a Craftsman is Like

Ji Jue's perception stopped at the periphery, silently watching for a long time.

He did not send the spider to continue inward.

With his abilities, it was impossible to elude Jian Yuan's surveillance and access the engine without being detected. He'd likely be discovered the moment he crawled in, gaining nothing and possibly alarming the enemy.

You must eat your rice one spoonful at a time.

Even the Evil Cult wasn't built in a day!

Getting a promotion today was not bad.

Ji Jue withdrew his gaze, using the spider to crawl around. He selected three spots around the workshop, dug a pit at each, and then buried himself.

His eyes opened again.

He took out a piece of paper and began to write, and after finishing, he placed the envelope into the toolbox.

Finally, he looked towards the corner of the office.

The sleeping president sprang to his feet instantly, grinning with his tongue out, his tail wagging.

"Finished work? Want a pat?

Can you play with me now?"

"It's been tough on you; take another trip for me." He rubbed the president's dog head and once again stuffed the handle of the toolbox into the president's mouth. "After you get there, put it down, then come back in half an hour with the stuff."

The president blinked as if wronged.

It whimpered twice.

Soon after, it obediently trotted off with the toolbox in mouth and disappeared from sight.

Ji Jue let out a long breath, lay back in his chair, and couldn't help but appreciate the convenience of having the president... Unfortunately, the dog's mouth was still too small. Otherwise, it could've simply carried the engine away.

It would have saved everyone trouble; he'd probably be in Cliff City drinking morning tea by now.

Why so much hassle?

He closed his eyes, listening to the distant hallucination-like wails and lamentations, and silently sighed.

Spring City, ah.

He didn't know how much time had passed when he drifted off to sleep.

An hour later, the alarm within his soul, Spiritual Wisdom, precisely woke him up. He opened his eyes and saw the toolbox back on the desk and the president looking eagerly at him.

"Are you back already? Good job."

Ji Jue smiled and stroked its head, praising: "Who's the best dog in the whole world? It's our president, right? The president is the greatest..."

Providing emotional value was part of being a subordinate, too.

After finally finishing with the president's flattery, the sole temporary worker of the Sky Rail Group sighed, opened the toolbox.

At the top of the toolbox was a reply letter.

[Received your letter, all is well here, take care of yourself.

Tonight at 7:30, I will carry out the plan you devised. Enclosed are two Hands of Arrogance, one page of the corrected book, and two Flowing Light Blades as a gift.

Safety first, self-preservation is the priority.

— Tong Zhiwu]

Ji Jue looked down at the full toolbox and grinned.

He whistled silently.

Tong Zhiwu was reliable indeed!

...

"You guys think, isn't this a bit too outrageous?"

Meanwhile, in another temporary workshop in Lou Feng, Tong Shan couldn't help but rub his stubbled chin, full of doubt: "In just less than a day, he's already managed to become a manager over at You Sui, even finding Lou Feng's aunt and bringing back so much intelligence?

How exactly did he do it?"

If it weren't for his deep understanding of Ji Jue and his absolute trust in him, Tong Shan would have thought the guy had immediately colluded with Jian Yuan upon arrival and was now fishing for him!

But if he could silently place the toolbox right before him without being detected, why bother with such troubles?

Why not just send a bomb or descend from the heavens with You Sui's divine soldiers in tow? Wouldn't that be glorious?

"Could it be that we've been misunderstanding something all along..."

Xu Guan remained silent for a long while, curiously saying: "Is being an undercover agent actually simple?"

Tong Shan wanted to speak but ultimately had nothing to say.

Only in the corner, the old soup-eating employee raised his head to ask: "Is there a possibility that he didn't go undercover in disguise but could finally reveal himself freely?"

Suddenly, everyone became even more silent, looking at each other speechlessly.

What can you say? Although the efficiency and progress seemed exaggerated, given Ji Jue's uncanny ways, it almost seemed normal?

"After all, that's how craftsmen are."

Jiang Xuan had learned to attribute all uncanny events to Embers, suddenly making Lou Feng beside him even more uncomfortable, unable to spit out a clot of old blood.

If it continued like this, what would become of the craftsman profession under Ji Jue's hands!

Why hasn't Embers struck him with lightning yet?

But... after all, he had found the aunt.

Thinking of this, Lou Feng felt a bit softened and sighed: Let's not strike him with lightning now; let's wait a couple more days. Strike him dead then, and I'll pay for his lavish funeral.

Snap!

A faint noise emerged in the room, the air flickered, and a piece of paper appeared out of nowhere, falling into Tong Shan's hands.

"How is it? What did the outpost say?" Ji Liu leaned in to ask.

Tong Shan sneered after a glance and passed the command letter over: "It's the same old rhetoric, encouraging us to disregard our wellbeing and actively contribute to Hai Province."

"What kind of bullshit is this?" Ji Liu looked at it and promptly tore it up.

What a cold and indifferent big picture!

Up to this point, everyone who remained in Spring City was sneaking around like mice because they were risking their lives for Hai Province. And yet while they worked their heads off, others were shouting for them to serve as cannon fodder for their messy plans.

Go fuck yourself!

Who the hell do you think you are?

Using the outpost's stamp to print garbage on paper?
