Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 105: Practice Cooking More

With a passionate shout, Ji Jue pressed his raised hands down solemnly.

A vague sound transmitted through the air.

It was like a muffled fart.

On the distorted long sword above, there was no movement, just a polite vibration, and a faint, strange noise was emitted.

You used the Dissociation Technique.

The Dissociation Technique failed.

The target item bluntly took your Dissociation Technique and mocked you.

After a long brewing attack, it not only was ineffective, but the fingers also tingled and went numb due to the conflict of the spiritual substances.

However, Ji Jue didn't get discouraged by this temporary failure because... he had long been accustomed to failing!

For three whole days, he had been using the Dissociation Technique on this thing, and it hardly ever succeeded.

But that didn't stop his stubborn continuation.

It was just repetitive practice, not even as troublesome as screwing bolts in a factory.

Taking a deep breath, Ji Jue held his breath and focused, adjusting his state again, and pressed his hands toward the twisted long sword, with the sound of vibration aiding him: "Practice makes perfect!"

Buzz!

The long sword trembled slightly, emitting a faint light; this was the glow triggered by the Dissociation Technique finally affecting the spiritual circuit within. Unfortunately, the long sword remained unresponsive.

The slight light illuminated Ji Jue's pupils, slightly invigorating him.

In the relentless repetition of practice, there were always a few times, like coincidences or sheer luck, where the Dissociation Technique executed from Ji Jue's hands. The effect was there, just too weak to be observable to the naked eye.

But even a poor implementation was still an implementation, much like the accumulation of experience points.

Under the aid of the blessing of Heavenly Skill, every fortunate coincidence or focused and intentional effect accumulated into stepping stones on the path to mastering the skill.

As his proficiency increased, the success rate of the Dissociation Technique gradually moved from one in ten thousand with no clue at the beginning, to now one or two in a hundred, occasionally achieving success when inspiration struck and the feeling was right.

Even before his hands pressed down, he could already sense whether he would succeed or fail.

"Practice makes perfect!!!"

Ji Jue shouted, invigorating the spiritual substance, clapped down his hands, and, while still holding onto the feeling from just before, started a frenzied cycle: "I freaking practice! Practice! Practice! Practice! Practice!!!!!"

Dull thuds and sharp screams of steel resonated sporadically, accompanying Ji Jue's wild waving of hands. Under the high-frequency assault of spiritual substance, the long sword began to tremble increasingly, unable to withstand the relentless pressure.

Until Ji Jue's shouting intensified, this time, a faint glow actually emerged from between his ten fingers, suddenly stirring up a wind in the quiet workshop.

As he pressed his hands down, the air even emitted a harsh friction noise, with faint sparks ejecting from his fingertips. That was the ionization reaction occurring in the air due to the massive disturbance of the spiritual substance, with a large amount of static electricity being released as the balance broke.

And at that instant, the vibration and calls of the long sword finally reached their peak.

The moment his hands touched it, a complex spiritual matrix emerged from the blade of the sword, and then, from the self-excited vibrations, cracks appeared!

So striking!

Snap!

The second crack appeared on the spine of the sword!

In the dead silence, only Ji Jue's heavy breathing remained, thick nosebleeds falling from his face onto the operating table, dotting it with blood.

He staggered back a step and collapsed into a chair, looking at his cracked hands.

On his face, he couldn't suppress a smile anymore.

The second time!

Out of countless futile practices and repeated cycles over these days, his Dissociation Technique had worked for the second time!

Although it was only a paired-down, weakened version, nowhere comparable to Professor Ye's effortless and smooth operation, success was still success.

Now, he was one step closer to the entry-level!

After a long bout of catching his breath, Ji Jue quietly waited for the spiritual substance to recover, not using it on the long sword again, but spreading his hands and revisiting the basic exercises in the introductory skills of the Dissociation Technique.

At this moment, a slight spiritual substance slowly emerged above his separated hands, entwined around his fingers, gathering in the palm of his hands, but the nature between the two was distinctly different.

In his left hand, as if holding a smooth crystal, sometimes refracting faint light with the movement of his hands, reflecting the surrounding colors, serene and distant.

After the fluctuation and operation of the spiritual substance approached a cease-state of stillness and cessation, what formed was this mirror-like colorless phantom light.

And in his right hand, what appeared was a kind of misty vapor, through which only a blur could be seen, with various colors changing and appearing and disappearing within, until in the end, what remained was only a piece of gray that made everything lose its color.

When the state and fluctuation of spiritual substance were unrestrictedly stimulated to operate at maximum capacity, it disrupted the air and vision, making everything obscure.

And now, with Ji Jue's thoughts turning, the extremes of motion and stillness in his hands instantly switched, interweaving. His fingers trembled uncontrollably for an instant, as if cramping, struggling to maintain such fine control amidst complicated spiritual operations.

But then, switching once again, another transformation…

In increasingly rapid transitions, the twitching in his fingers became more pronounced until, at last, amidst cramp-like agony, a muffled explosion burst forth again.

The spiritual material went out of control, dissipating, slipping from Ji Jue's grasp.

Ji Jue, already drenched in sweat, lay powerless on the chair, panting heavily.

Vibration and stillness, repulsion and integration, separation and aggregation.

Professor Ye, starting from the unique characteristics of the Matrix of Gan Jiang and Mo Ye, founded this theory, allowing his own spiritual state to intertwine in very short cycles.

Amid unimaginable high-frequency changes, bundles of radically transformed spiritual material turned into invisible scalpels, meddling with the internal structure of the target.

This is the very essence of the Dissociation Technique.

It might sound simple in summary, but the actual application is so complex that Ji Jue cannot imagine it.

Having the spiritual material alternate freely between vibration and stillness is merely the most fundamental.

Beyond the basics, there are techniques specifically tailored for various types of objects, different Superior Blessings, and different types of opponents.

The frequency, intensity, and strength of spiritual operation, the transformation of different spiritual properties, unique spiritual attributes, and the bonus effects from matrix characteristics…every slight change results in vastly different outcomes.

Adjusting his own spiritual frequency, he would destroy key nodal points, triggering a resonance in the Spiritual Circuit, elevating the intensity limitlessly, until reaching the threshold of tolerance, causing a complete collapse.

The whole process only touches in an instant, resulting in the complete disintegration of the object and the target.

This was the Dissociation Technique that used to terrify countless craftsmen!

What apparently seemed an easy skill hides behind it theories vast as seas, precise and swift analyses and judgments, countless practices and studies, control so meticulous it irks, and the opportune application so exquisite only prodigal talents could seize that fleeting Spirit Light!

It can only be said that from the day the Dissociation Technique was conceived, Professor Ye never considered its universality or thought about its future legacy, nor did he ever imagine he'd exhaustively train a student as if obsessed.

At most, he had planned to guide Ji Jue, who barely caught his eye back then, hoping he would one day possess the competencies and capabilities of a workshop assistant.

Thus, the Dissociation Technique itself became a skill difficult to replicate and reproduce.

Its learning prerequisite is possessing either the Gan Jiang or Mo Ye Matrix, but in the whole world today, the existence of these matrices and even their creation methods are all controlled by Professor Ye.

Without their special effects, others can't even begin to approach the Dissociation Technique.

The only exception is the Matrix of Non-attack, also proficient in spiritual operation but with a range and effect surpassing both.

Because of its unique characteristic, the precision of absolute control over one's spiritual material, replication of Dissociation Technique became possible. Even the inspiration for the Dissociation Technique originated from an ancient relic referred to as the "Fourth Generation's Rebirth of All Things, the Double Hands with Ten Fingers"!

And over many years of continuous exploration and enhancement, solely in terms of destructive effects, the Dissociation Technique has already surpassed the historical records to become Professor Ye's signature skill.

Then, it transformed into a nightmare each inheritor of Non-attack must confront!

Difficult, absurdly difficult.

The outrageous part is, even with Non-attack, possessing Heavenly Skill and further diminishing the difficulty by splitting the technique between two hands…

Reducing the effects over and over to the extreme limits, Ji Jue realized, his ability to control spiritual material still wasn't enough?!

No, isn't this requirement ridiculously high?

Can a newbie like me really learn this?!

To make matters worse… noticing that Ji Jue could skillfully complete the Superior Emblem and most basic Spiritual Circuits, Professor Ye prohibited Ji Jue from practicing with alchemy waste. Instead, he made him practice the Dissociation Technique in order to master it sooner.

An entire warehouse full of alchemy waste, with its Experience Bag value just within reach, smelling the dissipating spiritual material, Ji Jue's abilities were almost starving out of control.

But for all these days, he hadn't gotten a single taste!

Just like a monkey driven mad with hunger, holding a coconut but unable to crack it open.

His whole being screamed discomfort.

Thinking about it, Ji Jue could no longer contain his grief and anger, and once again, he rolled up his sleeves.

"So many days have passed, I don't believe I still can't conquer you!"

He stared at the long sword before him, gritting his teeth—since his advancement, the progress bar hadn't moved for so many days. He couldn't believe that today he wouldn't be able to swallow this Experience Bag!

"Even Professor Ye can't hold you back, I say!"

"Practice makes perfect!"

Filled with fighting spirit and determination, yet the shout that rang out sounded ridiculously foolish again from the workshop.

"Practice! Practice! Practice! Practice—"

The continuous muffled sounds and clanging bursts, amidst the rushing spiritual material and its rapid consumption, Ji Jue felt as if something was about to emerge from his hands, bursting forth, but no matter what, it was just out of reach.

Only anger and agitation climbed continuously, accumulating, until he could not restrain it anymore.

Amidst the shrill, ionized sound in the air, Ji Jue's hands rose again, as if deranged, he roared hoarsely: "Break for me!!!"
