Martial Ascent to Divinity

Chapter 167: Racing

Zhou Leng walked to the Frost Giant Tree and began training.

He started with the Overlapping Waves Palm, then practiced the Flying Cloud Leg, followed by various grappling and joint techniques.

After finishing his training, he ate the freshly cooked Meat Herbal Cuisine.

Zhou Leng was about to enter the Gate of Purgatory for practice, but seeing that Huang had not returned, he picked up the large sealed stainless steel water bucket by the large water tank, put it into the Magic Spirit Bag, and headed to Mammoth Lake.

Since drinking the water from Mammoth Lake, all other water tasted bitter.

The Magic Spirit Bag contained several bottles of Mammoth Lake water, which he drank when away, and shared with Xu Qingjin at noon.

Leaving the forest, he saw the Snow Peak Blue Lake, and his mind broadened.

Xiaoba lay by the lake, Huang lay on Xiaoba's head, both wagging their tails gently.

They looked like a painting, calm and leisurely.

As he approached, the scene shook, and the two beasts turned to look, bounding toward him excitedly.

Zhou Leng picked up Huang, then dodged Xiaoba as usual.

Xiaoba circled pitifully, swinging its trunk, rolled at Zhou Leng's feet, wanting a hug.

Zhou Leng sat on Xiaoba, making it delighted.

Zhou Leng played with the two beasts for a while and then went to fetch water.

After fetching water, he called Huang to go back and bid farewell to Xiaoba.

However, Xiaoba tilted its head and stared at Zhou Leng, following behind.

"Go back," Zhou Leng bid farewell again.

Xiaoba took two steps, then suddenly extended its trunk, sniffed, and wrapped around Zhou Leng.

Xiaoba often played like this, so Zhou Leng channeled his True Qi, pushing out with all his might.

But Zhou Leng now, when facing an ordinary Late Stage of Body Refining opponent, doesn't necessarily lose in strength.

Yet Xiaoba's trunk didn't budge.

Xiaoba grunted twice, released its trunk, shook its head, flapped its big ears, and turned away.

Its small tail behind swayed back and forth.

Back at the Frost Giant Tree, Zhou Leng calculated the time and planned his training schedule.

First, practice the "Ten Reversed Beast Fist."

Last time, after the Blood Transport Period, the Establishing Image Chapter could only be practiced to the fourth form, 17 cycles.

First form, second form, third form, fourth form, fifth form...

He persisted to the fifth form for 35 cycles, but just when he was nearly there, he couldn't endure it and collapsed to the ground.

Every time he practiced the "Ten Reversed Beast Fist" to the limit, it felt like the first time practicing.

His whole body's power seemed completely squeezed out, without a bit of remaining strength.

Zhou Leng lazily leaned against the tree trunk, taking the Demonized Watch, reading aloud the three-dimensional Divine Text Map.

Again and again, not knowing how long had passed, Zhou Leng only felt his brain being drained, and he stopped.

He discovered in training the past few days that when sound, awareness, and text combined, the Divine Texts in the brain would turn together, forming an imperceptible power, making the brain feel more fatigued.

Initially, he just wanted to learn the twenty basic Divine Texts.

But after a few days, he vaguely felt his brain became clearer, his Martial Arts Will more resolute, and even his understanding of Martial Arts seemed to have increased slightly.

It seemed to make people smarter.

Zhou Leng checked some materials.

Past scientific research showed that learning different languages caused changes in the corresponding neurons in the brain.

Later, scholars and Demon Spirit Masters studied that learning Divine Texts caused more dramatic changes than all languages.

A long-term tracking study proved that Divine Text indeed could enhance specific people, but for others, it was useless or even burdensome.

After resting for a while, Zhou Leng entered the Gate of Purgatory.

The "Ten Reversed Beast Fist," Divine Text reading, and the Gate of Purgatory became the three major parts of his current training.

After training, Zhou Leng glanced at Huang, then at the Golden Page.

Why are there no new Golden Pages?

However...

Zhou Leng grabbed Huang's front leg and pulled it in front of him, carefully observing and feeling the muscles on its body.

"You've grown bigger, even stronger than a wolf," said Zhou Leng.

Huang grinned, panting with a silly expression.

"Your fur is shinier, your paws are obviously stronger, haven't you been eating well with Xiaoba?"

Huang nodded while laughing.

"Can you beat a wild boar now?"

Huang twitched his mouth, snorted, then patted the air with his right paw, as if saying it could easily swat one away.

"Come on, let's race."

"Ha... ha..." Huang nodded repeatedly with mouth open.

"Ready... set... go!"

Zhou Leng took the Demonized Watch, timing his speed, channeling his True Qi, and directly used the Lightweight Flying Crane Technique.

With a powerful push from his right foot on the ground, the wind gusted, bending the white grass, and he shot out like an arrow.

Reaching the edge of the forest at the end of the white grassland, he looked back to find Huang had run nearly halfway.

"Such speed..."

Zhou Leng immediately looked at the Demonized Watch to calculate his speed.

Before going to the Dwarf World last time, he tested it.

39 meters per second, 140 km/h.

And now, 54 meters per second, with a speed of up to 194 km/h.

In one second, crossing 54 meters.

One hundred meters in less than two seconds.

Zhou Leng roughly estimated Huang's speed, about 25 meters per second, with a speed of 90 kilometers per hour.

The fastest greyhound usually only reaches about 72 kilometers per hour.

Huang ran close, panting heavily, laughing with satisfaction, running to his heart's content.

Zhou Leng rubbed Huang's head and said with a smile, "In a few months, you'll be able to outrun a cheetah."

Huang didn't know what a cheetah was, but nodded vigorously, full of smiles.

"Once I advance to Innate, we will explore the Fierce Beast World with Xiaoba to find more delicious food."

Huang nodded vigorously.

Walking back under the tree, Zhou Leng got up to practice the Flying Cloud Leg.

Huang watched with his tongue hanging out, occasionally trying to kick a few times, like having a leg cramp.

Under the night, the lights of Changrong Exploration Company were bright and vibrant, with the workshop for slaughtering Magical Beasts bustling with activity.

Deep underground in the company, on the wall of an office, a blood-colored giant tree was drawn.

Numerous blood-colored stars hung from the giant tree, and its roots were like octopus tentacles.

The emblem of the Fishman Sect, the Star Blood Tree.

In front of the Star Blood Tree, hung an emaciated corpse upside down.

That corpse was the "Descent Demon God" recorded in the Fishman Sect scriptures.

In front of the Star Blood Tree, sat four men in black robes.

Their faces were hidden by hoods, with blood and flesh tree roots protruding from their chins, gently writhing.

"Is the information accurate?"

"Very accurate. It's just that Zhou Leng's reputation isn't as high as Mountain and River Origin, and with him poisoned, advancement to Innate is hopeless, so not many people talk about him."

"It seems the military doesn't want it spread."

"Zhou Leng... after the Celestial Ladder, he seemed to be one of the leaders, causing a stir in the hospital. But, he was abandoned as a target for assassination. Unexpectedly, he has now become an influence."

"Cross-camp in one day, even if he's weak, he has first-rate potential among humans."

"Better to kill wrongly than let him go."

"But now we lack manpower, some were swept up by the Martial Guard Bureau before, and others need to support the Sea Siren..."

"The Sea Siren side, moving out again?"

"That bloodthirsty Half-blood Sea Siren prince, to become a saint, dispatches Sea Sirens everywhere for battle, finding chances to challenge Human Race experts, honing his own Martial Arts. Opposing him is out of the question, even without active consent, a palm strike kills, several of our contacts already died at his hands."

"Ah, the Blood of Tyranny, aptly named."

"Things aren't easy for him either; as a Half-blood Sea Siren, he couldn't practice the Sea Demon Race's Spell, suffering humiliation among them. Who'd think he'd have such a remarkable Martial Arts talent among humans, learning the right Cultivation Technique, rising quickly."

"If nothing unexpected happens, he'll advance to Martial Saint within a year, the first Half-blood Martial Saint in the Ten Realms."

"I heard some Demigods in the Sea Demon Race secretly suppress him. If he advances to Martial Saint, both the Human Race and Sea Demon Race will be in trouble."

"He can't be suppressed. Although bloodthirsty, he's extremely smart, befriending several Sea Siren Demigods and Demon Purgatory Lords. With support from a Demon Purgatory Lord, the Demigods of the Sea Demon Race can't do anything to him."

"Let's delay dealing with Zhou Leng and focus fully on accommodating the Blood of Tyranny..."

The next morning, after breakfast, Zhou Leng received a command from Deng Zhijue to head to the back door of Ruda.

A seemingly ordinary beige van was parked at the back door.

In front of the van stood a few people in camouflage, including Instructor Deng Zhijue, along with an old friend.

Rao Mingxian.

"Zhou Leng!" Rao Mingxian greeted with a smile.

"You're here too?" Zhou Leng asked.

Rao Mingxian said, "Still striving for a higher spot on the Freshman Chart."

"You're now nineteenth on the Rucheng Freshman Chart," Zhou Leng said.

"My foundation is a bit lacking, hollow gains. I... huh? You've advanced to Body Refinement? Didn't brag about it online?"

Rao Mingxian hurried over, examining Zhou Leng closely.

After returning from the Dwarf world, Zhou Leng focused on cultivation, rarely interacting with classmates outside his class.

Deng Zhijue smiled, wanting to mention Zhou Leng not only advanced to Body Refinement but achieved cross-camp in one day. Still, higher-ups suggested avoiding unnecessary discussions, so he refrained.

Rao Mingxian widened his eyes, reached out to touch Zhou Leng's bicep.

"Whoa... this doesn't feel right. Feel mine." Rao Mingxian was shocked.

Zhou Leng reached out, feeling Rao Mingxian's arm muscles, then his own.

The feeling was completely different.

His own muscles were extremely solid, with an underlying metallic hardness.

Rao Mingxian's muscles lacked such a sensation, still firm but more like wood.

"Really? Let me feel." Deng Zhijue stepped forward, placing his hands on both their arms, then his own.

"Indeed different." Deng Zhijue looked intently at Zhou Leng.

Rao Mingxian sighed, "You gained a lot in the Dwarf world. Next time something like this happens, don't forget me. I'll sell everything to join you."

Zhou Leng said, "I mentioned it before, but you didn't seem interested, so I didn't bring it up."

Rao Mingxian helplessly said, "With my mediocre skills, how could I dare venture into the Otherworld? But now that my Body Refining Realm is stable, and I even have the Mountain of Will's shadow, I might try."

"Hmm?" Zhou Leng and Deng Zhijue both stared at Rao Mingxian.

"You already have the Mountain of Will?" Deng Zhijue was particularly surprised, being at the later stage of Life Force. Though not seasoned, he was considered a small prodigy.

Sadly, his focus was on Combat Awareness, with weaker Martial Arts Will, so he hadn't yet formed a Mountain of Will shadow.

"A transparent Mountain of Will, far from being solid." Rao Mingxian said.

"Gradual build-up first." Zhou Leng nodded, genuinely surprised that this classmate, once living in Principal Rao's shadow, could form a Mountain of Will so soon.

Examining Rao Mingxian carefully, his demeanor was indeed different.

Previously somewhat slouched, now standing straight, chest out, evidently more confident.
