Lord of Cosmos

Chapter 179: The Power of Prediciton

Yousef ran for his life on a path between two mountains covered in orange grass, while Jasto ran behind him. Jasto then ran up the rugged slope of the mountain on his right, jumped high, and fired his beam at both sides of the mountains in front of Yousef. Rocks fell, blocking his escape route.

Yousef stopped and swallowed hard. He had to go back to where Jasto was waiting for him, a victorious smile on his face. Yousef knew he would suffer bloody injuries, but his body, genetically enhanced and modified by the Enix, would heal over time—if he could escape today and not be killed.

He charged toward Jasto, who extended his palms and began firing successive, intense bursts of rays. Yousef dodged them or endured them, leaping between them until their intensity increased. The upper part of his suit melted, and the skin of Yousef's right arm was scorched. He screamed in pain but didn't stop running and dodging left and right.

Suddenly, the streaming rays stopped. He looked with difficulty through the flames using his suit's eyes and saw Akira appear from nowhere behind Jasto. Akira kicked him hard, sending him onto the rugged mountain pass. Yousef sighed in relief; he had been on the verge of death. He thanked God for Akira's timely intervention.

Yousef ran toward Akira, writhing in pain, and shouted at him, "Save yourself!" Akira looked at him, then at Jasto. He found Jasto aiming his right hand at him, a smile on his face, ready to burn him. Akira's eyes widened, and he used his teleportation to get away. But the surprise was that Jasto had aimed at the very spot where Akira would reappear.

The moment he materialized at his destination, he found a thermal explosion waiting for him. It managed to push him far away and burn part of his suit. Akira fell to the ground, his head spinning. Yousef was astonished that Jasto had predicted the exact location Akira would teleport to. He rushed back to Akira and carried him.

He was about to run when he heard the sound of Jasto's feet behind him. He turned his head in panic and glimpsed him, but he received a kick in the back that sent him to the ground. He skidded across the ground, tasting dirt, while Akira fell beside him.

Yousef didn't have time to feel his pain. He forced himself up but found Jasto in his face. Jasto had gathered intense thermal energy in his right palm, pressed it against Yousef's chest, and released it all at once. It incinerated the upper part of his suit, scorched the skin of his chest, and nearly penetrated his heart, if not for Akira teleporting behind Jasto, grabbing his neck, and latching his legs around his torso, pulling his hand away from Yousef, who felt for a moment that his heart had stopped.

Yousef's vision whited out for a moment as he hovered between life and death. His sight returned, and he saw Jasto trying to get rid of Akira, who was holding on tightly. Jasto pressed his hands onto Akira's wrists, releasing an intense heat that burned Akira's hands. Akira began to scream in pain.

Yousef forced himself up and rushed at Jasto, delivering a rapid-fire series of punches to his cold, crystalline face, one after another, non-stop. But Akira couldn't stand the high heat and let go of Jasto. Jasto caught Yousef's fast-moving fists with ease, as if he could see their rapid movement, then said, "What a strong boy you are, stranger. You're not dead yet. I see you are not Zurix, nor Ghlizan. Where are you from, then?"

Yousef headbutted him hard to make him let go, and it worked, but his own head ached from the hardness of Jasto's helmet and his forehead. Yousef wanted to turn tail and run, but Jasto surprised him with a kick to his leg that tripped him and nearly brought him down, if not for Akira appearing in front of him, grabbing him, and teleporting a great distance away to a nearby blue plain, which consumed a large amount of his energy.

"This devil is dangerous," Akira said. "We have to get out of here before he pinpoints our location. It was a bad plan to attack a man of his rank and status. If these people find the crystal, it's over for us and for planet Earth, forever."

Yousef felt exhausted, his body barely moving. He took an injection from his super-suit and injected himself to dull the pain so he could run again. He was completely disheartened by the power gap between them and Jasto. He coughed, then said, panting, "He predicts our path before we even take it, but he can only focus on one of us. That's why you were able to ambush him from behind twice. If he finds us now, before we can rest and escape, we have to fight him from the front and back to distract him, and then inflict as much damage as possible. If we defeat him, we'll have rid the universe of this demon. If we can't, we flee quickly without looking back and warn the rest of our comrades about him."

"I don't think he knows our location here," Akira said confidently. "Let's escape now."

Yousef shook his head grimly. "He knows. Teleport, now!"

Yousef felt the medicine in the injection take effect. He got up and ran to the right, seeing thermal rays charging toward him, which he barely dodged. Jasto appeared, walking through the plain with his head down.

Yousef charged, running around the plain, which was now ablaze with fire. Burning rays exploded in front of him, behind him, to his right, and to his left. Then Akira suddenly appeared behind Jasto and punched him hard in the face.

Jasto spun around to grab him, but he disappeared and reappeared behind him again, kicking him in the back. Jasto, enraged, spun with a kick, but Akira vanished. Suddenly, he found Yousef coming in fast, charging forward and ramming him with his shoulder, knocking him to the ground.

Jasto was on his back. He saw Akira appear from nothing above him, descending to stomp on him. Jasto rolled away, but he saw Yousef rushing in, kicking his rolling body with successive kicks, as if he were playing football with him.

Jasto became intensely furious and unleashed a powerful thermal explosion from his body, like a bomb that suddenly detonated. It blasted Yousef far away and severely wounded him.
