Lord of Cosmos

Chapter 148: An Ancient War

"I wish I hadn't asked," Noor said sarcastically.

One of the spiders advanced from amidst the barrage of fire and jumped on Noor with its feet. He, in turn, grabbed them and pushed it to the right until it fell to the ground. He aimed at its eye and destroyed it, and it fell silent.

The huge robots approached them and fired their shells at Noor's and his comrades' robots. They hit them and pushed them back a little, causing them some scratches. "We have to finish them off, or our strongest weapons will be destroyed," Noor said as he retreated.

Noor pressed some buttons, and a chamber opened in the robot's chest. Several cannons came out and fired dozens of rockets that landed on the heads of Gaia's huge robots, destroying them, but more were coming.

The swarms of bees were able to penetrate the human sphere and shot down dozens of soldiers, some planes, and snipers. But the soldiers on top of the buildings continued to hunt them and shoot them down. But the number of bees was increasing and they were charging like flies toward them until they began to affect Noor and his companions with their annoying cannons. Meanwhile, the small robots were advancing until they had passed Noor and his companions without them noticing. But the armored cars and the soldiers behind them lined up and aimed their fire at them, destroying dozens, but they were also taking hits. The square also turned into a fireworks festival.

And as the siege on the humans tightened, the warplanes arrived from above them and began to bomb the machines and the buildings from the sky. But the view from the sky was very terrifying, as the pilots noticed the huge numbers of robots that extended to the horizon as if they were endless. But they continued to bomb the machines from above with many long-range missiles that were taking down thousands of the machines. But the bees began to head toward them, bothering them and trying to hunt them. The planes maneuvered them and tried to shoot down many of them while they were bombing thousands of machines on the ground.

Noor drew his thermal sword, and his other comrades followed him—while their cannons were automatically targeting the machines. They advanced into the midst of the machines, running over them and cutting up the spiders and the huge robots. Dozens of robots surrounded them in an attempt to climb their bodies, but they failed for the time being. But the continued pressure on them promised that they would be able to overcome them shortly.

The battle raged, and the robots attacked with ferocity and violence, stopped only by the humans' bullets. Many soldiers fell because of them, and the bees continued to advance despite the fall of hundreds of them. The ground narrowed for the humans as their ammunition was about to run out. They thought they were surrounded on all sides, so they prayed to God to save them from this nightmare, because they felt that their fall before these hordes would be soon if they did not act quickly or a miracle happened.

The small robots approached, penetrated, and advanced until they broke through the human barrier and slipped between them. The humans received them with their hands and weapons if they could. They felt that the time had come for the next plan, so they retreated quickly and hid behind the buildings after dozens of them had fallen. After that, from behind the buildings, Sairi and Ivanov came out, and behind them, thousands of humans armed with primitive weapons. Ivanov covered his body with iron and shouted, "Forward!"

The humans behind him shouted with a mixture of enthusiasm and terror. Ivanov and Sairi ran, shouting, "Death to the machines!"

The humans ran in large numbers, cheering, as the robots fired at them. But Sairi was reflecting their shots with his ability, away from them, while Ivanov was blocking them with his iron body. Soon, they got close to the robots. Ivanov jumped on them and began to wipe them out, and Sairi followed him, who drew his energy sword and began to cut them and push them with his ability. And behind him, the humans clashed with the machines, raining down blows on them with sticks and iron bats until chaos reigned, and the robots and humans were mixed as if they were one entity destroying each other, as if angels and demons had clashed in a battle that would determine the fate of the universe.

The humans continued to hit, kick, and destroy the countless numbers of robots in a bloody battle the likes of which they had never seen before, so much so that they did not know if they were in a dream or reality.

The battle intensified further. The young men jumped up, cooperating to smash the heads of the robots, while others hindered them and took their rifles and used them against them. And Atlantis continued to burn and be filled with screams and cries that did not die down until the surprise came.

From among the crowds of robots, six huge and massive robots with a distinctive shape advanced. They varied in shape from the Pharaonic, Persian, Arab, Roman, Japanese, and Greek soldiers. "It's Gaia!" Ares said, his nerves about to snap from terror.

Everyone felt terror strike their hearts with every step these machines took. After they had advanced far enough, they stopped in front of the square, and the pharaoh-like robot stepped forward. The cockpit in it opened, and Gaia emerged in his distinctive black spacesuit with the helmet that made anyone who looked at it feel as if they were seeing the vastness of space with its breathtaking stars, planets, and galaxies. Gaia was silent for a moment and contemplated the square, which was filled with victims from both humans and destroyed machines. After that, he turned on the loudspeaker in his machine and began to say, "The colonizer usually steals the culture and history of those he has colonized, as I have done with these machines. But in my case, you are the colonizer, and I am defending my planet. O humans, your defeat does not honor me, and your killing does not satisfy me. But you have trespassed on my planet and wanted to colonize it, and that is why I have fought all these wars with you. I know you do not know why you are fighting these wars, or for whom. But I had no way to negotiate with you, and that is because Gladious was always surrounding you and watching you with his soldiers who are hiding all over the city and making sure that everything is going as he wants and desires. He has spies from humans and from other creatures on distant planets that you know nothing about. But now is the right time to negotiate."

The humans did not understand what was happening, but Noor and his comrades did. Then the robot that looked like an Arab knight and the robot that looked like a Japanese soldier advanced. The humans grabbed their weapons in tension, in preparation for any treachery. But the two robots opened up, and from inside them, two soldiers emerged, wearing the human super-suits that had been designed for the mission that had ended in failure. Everyone stood in anticipation of what was happening. The two soldiers took off their helmets, and the faces of Yousef and Akira appeared. Noor leaned back in his chair inside the robot in astonishment and felt a pain in his head when he saw Yousef's face, as if his face was the only barrier between him and his memory returning to him again. He muttered, "Yousef and Akira!"

Yousef stood up, turned on the loudspeaker, and said, "My brothers, this whole war is a trick, and Gaia is not our enemy. In fact, we can consider him our only ally to get out of this predicament. And for those who do not know, we are not on planet Earth, but on the planet Atlantis. We have been taken from our planet, and our minds have been washed by an advanced civilization that lives in space. We have been taken from our world to fight for them like mercenaries who have no power or strength. Gaia was only defending his planet from us using his robots because we are literally invaders and colonizers who came by force and tried to expand in his land. That is why we must stop this massacre and settle matters in a diplomatic way. After that, we will return to Earth and get away from all this nonsense. But if we insist on fighting this war, believe me, we will not win against him and his countless machines. This war is bigger than our simple minds, and this conflict is a conflict that extends for thousands of years and has now reached its peak. We are only a small part of a much larger conflict that is taking place in outer space. And our joining Gaia today will ensure that we get out of the circle of conflicts and ensure safety and peace for ourselves and for all the human race."

The people were amazed by what he said and were shocked and astonished. They thought that there were traitors from the humans who were uniting with the machines. But Gaia took off his helmet from his head so that they could see that Yousef had not lied to them and that he was indeed from outer space. The shock was multiplied many times over. Noor came out of his cockpit and reprimanded Yousef. "Yousef, why did you join this tyrant? We know the truth of what is happening, except for the common people. But we also know that this tyrant has displaced his people, and this is what led to the beginning of everything. If he had not done this, his people would not have gone to invade Earth, and Gladious would not have brought us here to fight him. He is the cause of everything and the main source of what we are in, and that is why we will never negotiate with him. After I remembered you, my friend, I see you putting your hand in the hand of an oppressor in order to seek safety and protection from him! We will not surrender until we crush him and Gladious after him and return to our planet and put things back in their proper place."

Yousef wanted to speak, but Akira stepped forward and said, his forehead pouring with sweat, "Noor, you don't understand anything. Maybe Gaia did something that seems wrong on the surface, but he did it to protect the entire universe. If Gladious had obtained the Crystal of Life, then Earth would have been destroyed as well. Gaia did not know that his brother would invade Earth with Gladious in order to find a new home, and that all this madness would happen. He did what he had to do at the time. As for the results of this action, they are not his fault, but Gladious's fault. The matter is bigger than you imagine. It's not just about us, but about the entire universe!"

Keno came out of his cockpit because he knew that there was a lot of truth in Akira's words. He had seen for himself all the videos that had been distributed on the towers and knew the truth of what was happening, and that he was one of the few, besides Yousef and Akira, who understood the real reason for what was happening here. When he was about to ask Noor to be silent, Noor's voice interrupted him, "He deceived you and washed your minds! There is no justification at all for what Gaia has done, even if you gather millions of pieces of evidence in his favor, because what he did is a crime against an entire civilization! We will never be silent about what he has done to us and to the people of Atlantis."

"Noor, you must be silent now and let me speak," Keno said to end this dispute.

Keno turned his gaze to Gaia, and before he could speak, he saw shells being launched toward Gaia's robots. Gaia raised his hand to the air, and a huge wall of rock came out and received the volley of missiles. Keno turned his gaze back and saw that dozens of Enix members—hiding between the buildings—were the ones who had done this to stir up the war again. And as an automatic reaction, the humans fired out of panic toward Gaia and his companions. Gaia's robots began to fire again in self-defense. And amidst this confusion that had started again, the Enix soldiers descended from the top of the hill, slipped between the buildings, and charged, led by Margoth and his men, toward Gaia to support the humans. Keno saw hundreds of them coming out from between the buildings and hitting the machines from the right, and some had come from the left to close in on him from all sides and finish him off for good.

Gaia came out of his robot and landed on the ground. He knew that he had no choice but to continue the war, because the Enix were now within the ranks of the humans, and he could not separate them from them. That is why he had to eliminate all of them and to deal with the Enix leaders first, because they were the most dangerous. Barriers of rock were coming out of the ground to protect him from the Enix's bullets. He saw one of Margoth's swords heading toward him, so he bent his head and dodged it. He ordered some of his machines to attack Margoth, who was running toward him, followed by dozens of soldiers. The robots aimed their fire at them, but two of Margoth's swords were blocking it as they spun quickly, while the other three attacked the robots, cutting and piercing them.

Valar, the female Enix member, flew in the air, a blue mist wrapping around her as if it were carrying her in the air. She aimed her hand at the bodies of the destroyed robots. A blue aura wrapped around her, and she flew in the air. They disintegrated and gathered around her to form several huge, pointed objects, and she aimed them at Gaia, who in turn clenched the air with his right hand, and huge, dense tree trunks came out of the ground and extended to about ten stories. Valar's objects collided with them and continued to penetrate them until their ability to penetrate weakened and they got stuck in the middle of the trees. Valar said as she saw Melkon, the cyborg, flying beside her and aiming dozens of small rockets at the trees, "I didn't expect less than this from one of the emperors of the universe. It seems that taking him down will cost us a lot."

Melkon's rockets hit the trees, burning and destroying them until Gaia emerged from behind them again, standing calmly in the middle of the battlefield and looking at them with a look of challenge and hatred. And on his right, one of the Enix leaders, Dragoth, was heading toward him. Gaia ordered the pharaoh robot to deal with him, but he was surprised when Dragoth jumped on the pharaoh and destroyed him with a single blow until he almost fell on top of Gaia, who jumped back and raised columns of rock to support the robot so that it would not fall on him. He saw Dragoth descending on him with his fist. Gaia brought out the tree roots like snakes and made them wrap around Dragoth's body, and then he pulled him and threw him far away. Yousef and Akira wanted to intervene and greet Gaia, but he had told them before that their fate would be destruction if they entered into a battle with the Enix, and despite the great abilities that Gaia had given them, they were still beginners, so they decided to stay in their robots and fight the Enix with them and try to avoid attacking the humans as much as possible.

As for the humans, their battle with the machines continued, and they exchanged fire with them. They had noticed that there were some masked people who had joined them to support them, so they felt hope and thought that they were a special squad from the army that had come to support them. And Noor and his companions continued to focus their efforts on the huge robots, the spiders, and the annoying bees as much as possible. Sairi and Ivanov and their thousands of humans advanced, shouting amidst the protection of the Enix, and they attacked the robots again in hand-to-hand combat and with melee weapons. And although Sairi knew very well the identity of the Enix and that they were enemies, he saw that he should fight with them for now until this battle was over, and then they would settle the matter with them.
