Road to be the Best Chess Player in the World!

Chapter 274: The Opening Ceremony!

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, five-time world championship winner, Vishwanathan Anand!"

It was the opening stage of the Olympiad, and as the legendary Vishwanathan Anand stepped toward the podium, all the players who were in the venue also rose from their seats, giving their respect to the man who shaped the entire chess community in this whole country to become one of the strongest forces in the world right now.

Sheva also did the same, but somehow, he couldn't bring himself to the same level of enthusiasm as any other people here. Even though he arrived in this city a day ago and had been sleeping like a log for a whole day, the boy still felt like he couldn't muster his energy for any activity today. It was fortunate that the event today was just an opening ceremony, where the only thing he had to do was sit and watch the show, so the boy could still drag his body and join the fun here.

"Shev, are you okay?" Anna, who sat next to him, couldn't help but ask, feeling worried.

"Don't worry, just a little bit of exhaustion here." Sheva smiled stiffly, trying to look okay.

"Don't worry about him, Big Sis. I am sure that he knows how to take care of himself and doesn't need the concern of someone who he had dated once in the past, right?" Claudia interrupted with a little sneer escaping from her mouth.

"Can you stop that already?" Sheva clicked his tongue in annoyance. "I am in for a playful banter or two, but what you are doing here is outrageous! You know that your sister is her own person and doesn't need your concern to date anyone else in the world, right?"

Yeah, the girl had been throwing sarcastic remarks here and there since they met again yesterday, and while at first, Sheva himself wasn't bothered by it that much, the more he allowed the girl to say anything she wanted, the more she rubbed his skin the wrong way. With the constant headache that he also suffered here, right now, the boy was on the verge of snapping here, and while he didn't want to unleash it on the poor girl, it seemed that she was eager to receive that.

Of course, Claudia was not happy with his reaction. Her face was red in fury, and she was about to shoot back with a nastier insult. However, before she could do that, Medina suddenly turned her head around from the front seat to send her fiercest glare at them.

"If you want to bicker, leave the building right now. No need to embarrass our country further, okay?" She hissed.

This was enough to shut up Claudia's mouth instantly, and Sheva was grateful for the woman's intervention here. He took a deep breath, trying to adjust his mental state while also ignoring the buzzing crowd around him.

After Vishwanatan Anand gave his speech, it was time for the traditional dance performance, and while the group that was on the stage did a wonderful job entertaining the crowd, the headache that Sheva suffered right then was enough to prevent him from enjoying the show.

'System, any solution to relieve the pain?' He muttered, closing his eyes tightly.

[Host still has a recovery pill in inventory, and once the host consumes that, all the headache and fatigue that the host suffers will be gone instantly. However, the System recommends the Host to wait until tomorrow and take another rest for one more night first, and if the headache is still there, the host could consume the pill to be back at the best state immediately.]

That was when Sheva suddenly remembered the reward he received after slaughtering all the Indonesian players during his first meeting with them two months ago. At that time, the boy saved this item for an emergency, and indeed, this should be the moment when he had to take that pill to recover from his current terrible state.

In the end, Sheva still decided to follow the system's suggestion. It was okay for him to endure a headache for one more night, since it would be quite wasteful if he used the recovery potion without having a match to play.

The opening ceremony lasted for quite a while, and right after the event was over, Sheva went back to the hotel room immediately. It was a little bit rude not to greet any other player there, but except for Praggnanandhaa, who he knew quite well, the boy didn't really know any other player at the venue, so it was kinda pointless to stay over there for too long. Rather than that, it would be better for Sheva to go back to bed earlier so that the boy could recover better tomorrow.

The moment Sheva fell on his bed, he passed out instantly, not even having time to change his clothes first. Time passed by, and he was completely isolated in his dreamland. The moment the boy woke up, he checked the time on his phone, seeing that it was 6:30 in the morning. It seemed that he was asleep for more than 9 hours, and while he felt a little bit better, there was still something lingering on his body that he couldn't describe.

'Oh, well… Whatever. System, give me the pill.' He muttered. Right after that, a blue pill suddenly appeared on his right hand, and after taking a glass of water, the boy drank it immediately, not even having a single hesitation about whether the product was legit or not. He trusted the system not to fool him in this matter, and even if it turned out to be a scam, he fought against a mysterious entity inside his head, so nothing could be done about it.

A few seconds after he consumed the pill, though, Sheva suddenly shivered uncontrollably. His body suddenly felt like a rusty machine that was getting taken care of carefully, from getting oiled well and repaired fully until it worked at its best performance again.

The headache was gone, and all the stiffness that he felt yesterday had already disappeared. Sheva felt like someone had just pushed the reset button for him, turning his settings back to the default ones.

"Yes, as expected, there is no way the product from the system is a scam." He nodded in satisfaction. "Now, let's see how the others are preparing for today and whether I could help them or not…"
