Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 381: Death

A group of figures in black robes sat together, with the corpse of a white-feathered birdman in their midst.

The burly man beside them took an unknown item out of his space equipment and used it on the corpse.

The item emitted a golden glow, then shattered and turned into tiny stars, which drilled into the corpse on the ground.

As the starlight entered, the fatal wound on the birdman's chest slowly healed until there was no trace left.

A soft sound emerged, and the birdman's body burst into golden light, which then immediately re-entered his body.

The corpse then returned to stillness, seemingly unchanged except for the healed chest wound.

"Cough, cough! Huff, huff!"

The white-feathered birdman suddenly resurrected, sitting up while clutching his chest wound, gasping heavily.

The burly man extended his arm and said, "Welcome back, my brother. How does death feel?"

The birdman took the burly man's offered arm and stood up.

Looking at his fully healed wound, he said with lingering fear, "It wasn't pleasant at all. I never want to face death again in this life."

"The pitch-black abyss is truly terrifying."

He took out a red potion from his space equipment and drank it down.

Then he took out a bottle of water, gulping it down. After performing these actions, he finally calmed his breathing, seemingly finally escaping the shadow of death.

"But I have to thank you for truly resurrecting me."

"Look at the way you say that. We're companions with a common goal, aren't we?"

"Hahaha, of course."

When he came up with this plan, he took the risk of truly dying. Would he be resurrected after death?

No one could guarantee that, not even the most trusted person.

Ultimately, he had handed over his life and death entirely to someone else.

But fortunately, his companions did not betray his trust.

The birdman dispelled the thoughts from his mind.

He then asked the person beside him, whose eyes were covered with a black cloth, "How did it go? Did my plan work?"

"That red wolf is chasing the Fog Squad." The figure with eyes covered in black cloth nodded in response.

"That's good, at least I didn't die in vain."

Desperation.

At this moment, Kane and the others were in a nearly hopeless situation.

No one among Kane and his group could withstand another attack.

The red wolf's speed and attack power were unmatched.

They couldn't even defend or evade.

Kane could only dodge using his skills before the red wolf attacked, pushing Divine Martial Gaze to its maximum power.

Only this way could Kane barely avoid one or two attacks.

The shadow of death loomed over Kane's heart.

A sense of helplessness appeared in everyone, and red lines entwined Meizike and Funa, who were rushing over, making them collapse weakly to the ground.

Longbei Kleya and the others were similarly affected.

Kane lay on the ground, ready to embrace death.

"Remember to use the resurrection item to bring me back later." Kane communicated to everyone through the ruby lapel pin on his collar.

Having just endured an attack, Kane clearly felt the red wolf's attack was purely damaging and did not impact the soul.

The sheer overwhelming power left Kane and the others almost without a chance to fight back.

Lilu was not ensnared by the red runes and flashed beside Kane, summoning a rainbow-colored teleportation gate.

She tried to toss Kane in.

However, just as the teleportation gate appeared, it immediately dissipated, struck by a blood-red thread that caused it to shatter.

A set of mecha attached itself to Kane, with a golden wheel appearing on his back, and blue magic flames propelled him into the sky.

He couldn't stay in place any longer; who knew if this red wolf would suddenly go berserk and eliminate Kleya and the rest. The best situation would be to lure it away, and even if he died, he had the resurrection item as a backup.

Indeed, the blood-red wolf ignored Kleya and the others, transforming into a blood-red fluid and flew towards the sky, chasing Kane.

As the red wolf left, the red runes disappeared from Kleya and the others, who were weakly collapsed on the ground, and they stood up.

Meizike immediately directed red particles to enter Longbei's body, repairing his massive wounds.

"Rui, lend a hand!" At the call, Rui promptly flew over, using golden Holy Light energy to heal Longbei.

Meanwhile, Meizike extended his wings, aiming to pursue the direction Kane had gone.

Lilu had the same idea and intention.

Kreya immediately held both of them down with one hand each.

"Calm down, we can't possibly catch up to them, and even if we did, there is nothing we could do."

Meizike said nothing, while Lilu burst into tears, saying, "Kreya, what should we do now?"

Kreya forcibly suppressed her trembling arms, then a small dagger appeared in her hand, which she stabbed into her own thigh. Her worries were about to break through her rationality, but she had to remain calm.

Seeing Kreya's actions, Meizike instinctively wanted to control the red particles to heal her.

"No need to heal, the pain helps me stay calm now."

After Kreya finished speaking, she immediately said to Lilu, "Lilu, keep an eye on Kane's whereabouts through the mark. If Kane is near death, he will surely send us a message through the Ruby Lapel Pin. At that time, you should immediately open the Teleportation Gate and drag him into your world."

After hearing Kreya's words, Lilu nodded forcefully, then closed her eyes, focusing all her energy on constantly monitoring Kane's mark.

A rainbow-colored Teleportation Gate appeared beside her.

"Meizike, get ready to rescue Kane at any time. Prepare as though he might not be able to resurrect; you'll use the Resurrection Item from the Space Equipment."

Meizike took a deep breath, nodded, and directly walked into the rainbow-colored Teleportation Gate. He had to be inside, ready to treat Kane the moment he appeared. Yuyu followed him inside.

Xi flapped his wings stood in the sky, vigilant all around, guarding against attacks from those in the Black Mist.

Funa was also constantly pulling out mechanical Puppets, forming residual shadows in her hands as she kept creating them, surrounding the group.

On the other side.

"The captain of the Fog Squad flew away with that Red Wolf."

Hearing the blindfolded man's words, the burly man immediately asked the birdman, "Should we go over now and take the chance to wipe out the Fog Squad while Kane isn't around?"

Upon hearing this, the birdman with white feathers turned his head, looking at him with eyes like he was staring at an idiot.

"Kane's teammates must be very angry now. If we provoke them, we'll be facing their Fury.

Besides, haven't you read the newspaper? There's no way our strength can compete with theirs, even without their captain present."

After speaking, the birdman looked up at the sky.

"What we should do now is wait for the Red Wolf to kill Kane and return, then immediately leave the Dungeon without making contact with Kane's teammates."

"What about our mission?"

"Missions can be done anytime. Killing Kane would be a major accomplishment, completing the mission isn't a problem."

"Plus, we can wait until all of Kane's teammates have left before coming back."

"Alright then." The burly man rubbed his head and nodded.

In the sky, Kane spared no expense exerting his Magic Power, constantly using it to accelerate the Mecha's speed to escape faster.

While the red fluid behind him relentlessly pursued.

The fluid forming the blood-red Red Wolf in the sky wasn't as fast as on the ground, but Kane still needed to speed up with all his might to maintain some distance.

This won't work.

Kane kept thinking of countermeasures in his head.

A counterattack was entirely impossible; escaping even at the speed of the Red Wolf was also not feasible, and even a Spatial Transmission Skill would be detected.

Now only two ways could rid him of the Red Wolf: one was suicide, which would cause the Red Wolf to stop, just like that birdman's approach.

Suicide could at least ensure the completeness of his body and avoid Soul Damage, ensuring the Resurrection Item could work perfectly.

The other was trying to dispel the red mark on his hand, but Kane had already tried all possible methods and the mark showed no sign of fading.

Did it have to be suicide?

Aware that the distance was almost right, Kane immediately began falling toward the ground.

"I am about to die, get ready."

During the fall, Kane used the Ruby Lapel Pin to communicate his impending death to Kreya and the others.

Kreya's voice swiftly came through the Ruby Lapel Pin, "We are ready here."

Kane's hand conjured a transparent Steel Blade, then he released his body's defenses, took a deep breath, and stabbed straight into his heart.

Just as his body passed through the forest and fell to the ground.

Blood kept gushing out from the wound and Kane's mouth.

The Red Wolf reverted to wolf form and stopped beside him, staring intently at Kane, not attacking, merely waiting for his death.

A chilling breath and a powerless weakness began to flood his whole body.

Pain? It seemed he couldn't feel it.

His eyelids started to droop uncontrollably.

So tired.

Strength rapidly drained away, and as it did, the transparent short blade in his chest dissipated, blood began uncontrollably gushing outward.

Death arrived.
