Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 270: Found the Entrance

"Whoosh!"

An arrow pierced through the air, the wind pressure it created causing the surrounding leaves to flutter.

"Roar!"

A painful howl of a beast emanated from a branch of a large tree. At a glance, there seemed to be nothing there, only an arrow lodged in the branch, slowly dissipating.

With the disappearance of the arrow, a gush of blood spurted from the trunk, gradually revealing the body of a beast.

It was a leopard with skin that continuously changed color to match its surroundings.

However, the wound in its eye socket, relentlessly gushing blood, informed any onlooker that it was already a corpse.

On a shaded pathway several hundred meters away from the leopard's body, Longbei was patting Kane's leg.

"Incredible, my friend, you managed to hit its eye even in a place like this."

"You think I'm joking? The title of the number one Hunter in Kara Town isn't given for nothing."

Kane said with a hint of pride, then he dispelled the bow and arrow he had conjured in his hands.

Ignoring the mutual compliments, Meizike was examining the surrounding plants, hoping to find some intriguing herbs to concoct potions.

After all, this place was far from where he used to live, and the environment and flora were quite different.

There might be some surprises waiting for him.

However, the team only saw three men in the jungle; there was no sign of Kreya and Lilulu.

Above them, in the treetops.

A giant Floating Cloud was drifting above, spacious enough to easily hold four or five people.

This was Cotton Candy, who had entered its adolescent stage. Its size now allowed it to accommodate the entire team.

Yet, sitting on Cotton Candy everywhere would be too dull.

So only Kreya and Lilulu sat on it.

After all, with Kreya's size, maneuvering through such a dense jungle was something she absolutely detested.

At this moment, she was rolling her eyes at the three men having fun below.

They had been playing at Furnace Castle for a week; after participating in the grand Beer Festival over the last two days, they had begun to follow the map's directions this morning, heading towards the hidden Dungeon.

Since Longbei was originally from here, he was familiar with the area—at 150 years old, he had explored every corner within hundreds of kilometers of Furnace Castle.

Now, Kane and the others had arrived at the spot where the leopard had died, watching as its skin continued to change color with its surroundings.

"These cunning creatures are really annoying, scattered all over the forest. My mother should hire you to clear the main pathways of the forest around here."

Longbei muttered while looking at the corpse.

Dwarves lived on the mountainsides, yet they constantly had to trade and exchange goods with various nearby forces.

This meant the dense forests surrounding them were full of numerous Magic Beasts, causing them significant trouble.

The dwarves at Furnace Castle were known for their formidable combat skills, but there were few dwarven Hunters employed, and they were generally not strong enough to handle the task.

Each year, Furnace Castle had to spend a considerable amount of resources hiring Hunters to clear the surrounding forests.

Nonetheless, such measures were merely a drop in the bucket.

To Explorers, these Magic Beasts weren't particularly tough, but they were hard to find—especially in their home field, the forest.

Often, weeks would pass before capturing even one or two.

With Kane's prowess at clearing out Magic Beasts, if he stopped being an Explorer and took it up as a full-time job, he could make quite a lucrative retirement fund.

Watching Longbei's endless muttering along the way, Kane said helplessly, "Alright, stop rambling. Check the map. Haven't we reached the hidden spot yet?"

"Almost there, almost there. See that big tree ahead? It's around that area, when I was little I used to..."

Ignoring his ramblings, they looked in the direction Longbei had jumped and pointed towards, where indeed stood a large tree that required seven or eight people to encircle it.

The towering canopy made the area dimly lit.

At this moment, Cotton Candy, carrying Kreya and Lilulu, descended from the sky.

Ahead, the dense canopy left no gaps, providing nowhere for them to descend through.

After landing, Cotton Candy transformed into a mist and slipped into Kane's body.

Kreya pulled out her Longsword and began hacking at the dense vines and plants to clear a wider path.

"The marked spot on the map should be around here." Longbei told Kane and the others as they stood beside the tree.

But the area around the tree was quite large too—after all, the three keys marked only a dot on the map, but it represented a considerable area in reality.

Kane had no choice but to place the Explorer's Pointer into his Skill Grid for use.

Watching the Compass appear in his hand, Kane began tagging the hidden Dungeon.

The location of the Dungeon's teleportation, the location of the hidden Dungeon.

With the tags set, the pointer on the Compass began to spin wildly before settling on a direction.

Following the pointer, they arrived at an area behind the tree that seemed indistinguishable from its surroundings.

He took out the three Rune Keys.

As soon as they were out, the three Rune Keys floated up.

With a booming sound, a Teleportation Platform appeared on the ground. Unlike other platforms, this one had three round pits above it, matching the Rune Key's size perfectly.

The Rune Keys floated and aligned themselves into the round pits, eventually merging as one.

"Looks like this is the place, let's get on it then."

Saying that, Kane led the team onto the Teleportation Platform.

Once everyone was on board, a flash of light enveloped them, and they vanished, leaving no trace of the platform as the area returned to how it was before they arrived.

Total darkness enveloped them, soon replaced by a familiar starry sky.

Kane glanced at the surrounding stars, attempting to find the Star River, but he only saw a skyful of twinkling stars, with no sign of the once-familiar Star River.

They were in the place they were familiar with—the Fog Gate.

Yet it differed from the Fog Gates they previously knew.

The floating platforms in those previous Dungeons featured simple stone frames, but this one had stone framed decorations of various weapon patterns.

These features clearly indicated this Dungeon's uniqueness.

"Well, let's go in then."

With that, he took a deep breath, held it, and dove into the Fog Gate, with the others following closely behind.
