"I've received your thanks, but there's no need for a treat!"
Chu Feng chuckled lightly at the enthusiastic girl, declining her invitation. Li Mi's intentions are plain for all to see, and naturally, I'm well aware of them too. But perhaps it's because of Immortal Cultivation; I'm gradually becoming indifferent to the beauties among ordinary people. The difference in Life Ranks really makes itself known at times like these.
Ignoring Li Mi's sudden look of dejection, Chu Feng's gaze went directly to Monte standing nearby. This dispirited young man has now successfully escaped two accidents, including this one. The mysterious Strength within him, one that even I can't quite describe, is fully twice as potent as what others possess. To lure that culprit out, he's the one I need!
"To lure that person out, it's up to you!" Chu Feng stated directly.
"Ah? What? Me?" Monte, suddenly snapping back to attention from his daze, pointed at himself and asked blankly.
"Yes, you!" Chu Feng nodded, then turned to the others. "James, take these few and leave. I reckon another accident is about to happen here soon!"
"Okay."
Without any further ado, James promptly led the other two away.
Monte subconsciously wanted to follow but was suddenly restrained in place by an invisible Strength.
"Where are you going? Didn't I say you're needed to draw out the Bizarre presence behind this?"
"Me? Draw out the Bizarre? Mr. Chu Feng, I... I can't do it! And I don't have any money..." Monte, his gaze sweeping over the ruins of the hospital building, felt his legs go weak. If it weren't for that restraining Strength, he probably would have collapsed right there.
Draw out the Bizarre? Doesn't that mean being bait? And bait for my love rival, at that! I'm just an ordinary person; I'll likely meet only one fate when confronted with the Bizarre. The images of Kelly and Staven's corpses flashed through his mind, causing him to shake his head uncontrollably.
"Money isn't important!" Chu Feng stated. "But you should think carefully; you are now the target of the Bizarre. If you don't cooperate, I fear that the moment I let you go, a car might randomly appear and head straight for you."
No sooner had Chu Feng spoken than the roar of a car engine indeed came from a distance.
They both turned to look and saw a clearly out-of-control truck barreling straight towards them at full speed.
The moment he saw the truck, Monte reflexively looked towards Chu Feng, an indescribable emotion in his eyes. "Let me go, Mr. Chu Feng! Hurry, let me go!"
As the truck drew nearer, Monte, feeling the restraining Strength on his body had not dissipated, finally grew desperate.
"Let you go? Heh. Do you believe that whichever direction you run, it will turn towards that direction?"
"No! Please let me go!"
Seeing the young man still insisting, Chu Feng shook his head. Then, with a wave of his hand, he withdrew his Strength.
Monte felt a sudden release. He didn't have time to feel relieved as he saw the truck closing in and quickly scrambled to the side, dodging its path.
Having escaped to the side, he instinctively looked back to check on the truck, only to feel a gust of wind hit him in the face.
Seeing the truck's front so close, a flicker of despair crossed his eyes. How could this happen?
Along with a thunderous roar, Monte heard Chu Feng's calm voice by his ear again, "Do you believe me now?"
Looking at the truck that had been flung far into the distance, he instinctively swallowed. "Thank you, Mr. Chu Feng! I believe you now..."
"Don't thank me just yet. It's not over!"
As Chu Feng finished speaking, the truck not far away suddenly transformed into an explosive fireball. The massive explosion sent shockwaves rippling out, the flames even forming a small mushroom cloud. Countless fragments of rock and truck debris became lethal shrapnel in the blast, hurtling straight toward Monte's location.
If Monte had been standing there alone, he would have had no choice but to wait to be riddled with holes. But naturally, Chu Feng wouldn't let his bait lose his life so easily.
An invisible Palm Imprint shot straight for the fireball. All pieces of rock and truck debris along its path turned to dust under the greatly empowered Rending Palm.
The next instant, another boom echoed. The still-exploding fireball, along with what little remained of the truck's body, was slammed deep into the ground in a flash.
Gunpowder? Sniffing the lingering smell of smoke in the air, Chu Feng raised his eyebrows in surprise. Who knows whether the truck was filled with firecrackers or some other, more likely explosive material... After all, on American soil, anything is possible!
"Sir... Is it over?" Monte's trembling voice came from behind him.
Chu Feng turned around and saw the man had collapsed to the ground, his thighs trembling uncontrollably.
"Over? As long as you're on 'the list,' things like this will never end—they will only intensify! You're scared now?"
Pulling Monte up from the ground and sensing the even denser Bizarre aura emanating from him, a subtle smile touched Chu Feng's lips.
"Not over yet?"
Monte had just managed to stand straight when, upon hearing Chu Feng's words, his legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground again. The relentless series of accidents had nearly eroded what little courage the young man possessed.
"Don't worry, I'm here!"
With a wry expression, Chu Feng pulled the fallen "bait" up again. He waved his hand, and a stream of True Yuan instantly entered Monte's body. This True Yuan could withstand one attack, serving as a precaution against unforeseen accidents.
Having done all this, he turned his gaze toward the sky. I don't know if it's just my imagination, but something in the sky seems to be slowly revealing itself.
Meanwhile, Monte, who had felt completely drained, suddenly perked up the moment the True Yuan entered his body. His once-limp limbs, after the gentle warm current flowed through them, also felt the presence of Strength again.
"Mr. Chu Feng, how much longer do we need to stay here..." Monte, recovering his energy, asked in a trembling voice while cautiously scanning the surroundings.
"How much longer?" Chu Feng pondered for a moment. "Until I can see that line, I guess!"
"Line?"
Monte was bewildered. Following Chu Feng's gaze, he looked up at the sky but couldn't spot anything other than the pale red sky and clouds.
Just then, he heard Chu Feng let out a soft, "Huh?"
"Mr. Chu Feng, what's wrong?" Monte anxiously scanned the surroundings, trying to figure out what had happened.
"Have you ever seen an attack from the sky?"
"From the sky?"
Monte, noting the inexplicable look in Chu Feng's eyes, couldn't help but turn his gaze back to the sky.
"Xie Te, what is that?"
