By the time the others arrived, Luo Fei had already roughly organized the scene.
On the bed, Zhou Shanshan continued to shake uncontrollably, clearly still traumatized by the recent violent incident, feeling deeply terrified.
Inside the room, Qin Jianbin was tied up tightly and no longer posed any threat.
"Take him away."
Luo Fei waved his hand, and the other officers went in together to seize the still-struggling Qin Jianbin.
The man's physical fitness was quite good; he had been knocked unconscious earlier, and now he woke up again.
But he was still very restless, trying to struggle and escape.
Luo Fei delivered a precise chop to the back of his neck, accurately striking a nerve point, and Qin Jianbin instantly passed out again.
"Alright, now we can take him away."
After Qin Jianbin was taken away, Luo Fei and the others sent Zhou Shanshan to the hospital, where she first needed to receive treatment.
Once she'd recovered enough, they planned to learn more about the situation.
That night, Luo Fei and Liao Xingyu didn't return home, instead making do outside.
Zhou Jun was responsible for the overnight interrogation of Qin Jianbin at the precinct.
The case had caused quite a stir; the broadcast was originally a tool for entertainment and influence, but now it had become one spreading fear.
Others wanted to go eat something, but Luo Fei didn't go along, saying he needed to stay and keep watch.
It wasn't possible for everyone to leave; someone had to keep an eye on things.
While Luo Fei sat alone in the hospital corridor looking at his phone, suddenly someone walked up and stood beside him.
"Officer Luo, you're quite busy, aren't you?"
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Luo Fei suddenly looked up.
He saw Yang Mei smiling at him, dressed in casual clothes, high-heeled boots, a beige trench coat, with her hair loose, falling over her shoulders, her eyes soft and full of affection.
It was then that Luo Fei understood what it meant to see divinity in his heart.
In the past, he had his mother and younger siblings to care for; now there were others who cared about him as well.
"What brings you here?"
Luo Fei was so excited that his phone dropped to the floor, anxiously getting up and almost forgetting how to greet her.
"I missed you."
Yang Mei directly embraced him.
Ever since she returned from Binhai, she had been resting at home, helped by the local police approval of her leave, so she'd recovered quite well.
This visit to the city had two purposes: one was to see Luo Fei, as they hadn't had time alone for a while, and the other was about Zhao Donglai arranging her transfer and promotion.
Yang Mei's work capability was certainly up to standards, but there had been a lack of opportunities in the city.
Zhao Donglai had been racking his brains, feeling quite troubled.
Because Zhao Yulan was entirely unsparing in urging her brother forward, insisting Yang Mei expedite the transfer, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to be separated from Luo Fei across different places.
Finally, there was an opportunity now, so she called Zhao Donglai.
"I... I'm here looking after a patient. Do you want to eat something? I'll go with you."
He pulled her along, starting to walk, but after only a few steps, Luo Fei suddenly stopped, awkwardly scratching his head.
"Or maybe let's have them order food and bring it back."
"I still need to keep an eye on things, can't let anything happen."
Hearing what Luo Fei said, Yang Mei burst into laughter; he was truly adorably awkward.
"Alright, I just came to see you, and to discuss work arrangements. The team said you were at the hospital, so I came right over."
"Heard that recently you were handling the female streamer live case. It must've involved quite a bit of romantic ambiance during the investigation, right?"
"Remember when we chatted that day, Zhang Wei told you to watch the stream; you were quite anxious."
This girl really had him feeling flustered.
Luo Fei scratched his head, a bit embarrassed.
"Come on, making fun of me. It was just about the investigation."
"Besides, I wouldn't mess around. An investigation is an investigation. Do you not trust me?"
Seeing him continuously argue, yet looking so earnest and tense, Yang Mei covered her mouth as her laughter intensified.
Realizing she was teasing him, Luo Fei gave a somewhat helpless smile.
Suddenly, Yang Mei turned his face to hers, their eyes meeting directly.
"No matter what happens, I'll always support you, and trust you."
Upon hearing the affirmation from his loved one, Luo Fei felt overwhelmed; the last time they met was at the hospital in Binhai City, when Xiaomei took the initiative.
This time, it had no reason not to be him!
Immediately, he lowered his head and kissed her, simultaneously holding her tightly; at that moment, all the previous anxiety and anger caused by the case were vented.
Deeply affectionate and lost in the moment, there were no patients or nurses nearby, making the environment perfect, serene, and cozy.
Yet some murmuring sounds came from the side as Liao Xingyu brought a few officers up the stairs, carrying dinner for Luo Fei.
When they reached the corridor entrance, they witnessed this awkward scene.
Luo Fei and Yang Mei were completely immersed in their intimacy, entirely oblivious to the glowing presence of several light bulbs not far away.
Liao Xingyu was dumbfounded; it truly was a case of love raining down on the road.
With the food boxes falling to the floor, everyone scrambled to pick them up and moved hastily to the side, afraid of disturbing the couple.
Luo Fei and Yang Mei noticed there were people and quickly separated.
"Alright, you're busy here. I'll stay at your place tonight."
Upon hearing Yang Mei's words, Luo Fei quickly handed over the keys.
Although he lived in a single dorm, the bed was a double, enough for Yang Mei alone.
Watching as Yang Mei's figure faded into the distance, Luo Fei was momentarily lost in thought.
