"A trusted source also reveals that the old fellow is organizing a banquet in the virtual universe after you and your society members return from the energy vault."
The moment these words left Old Ha's mouth, everyone's eyes revealed traces of curiosity.
"It's to celebrate his son's breakthrough to the galactic level, but I don't think the banquet will be that simple," the old man added.
"He wants to make an open declaration to everyone in the empire that he is backing you."
Old Ha's words caused everyone to nod in realization.
"The banquet invitations should be sent to you after you return from the energy vault."
Kailen nodded in understanding.
"It seems this Ross Kadmen is someone who really knows how to repay favors. Not bad," Kailen mused inwardly to himself.
"By the way, I heard you saved the life of the father of one of my society members, Uncle Jackson," Kailen asked, after remembering what Miranda told him and the other society leaders.
"Oh yeah, Harrison. Good man. It sucks that he has become a crippled awakener." Jackson shook his head as he spoke with utmost sincerity.
"Was on his way to the top of the military, no doubt. The higher-ups had hopes for him, but alas."
Kailen squinted his eyes.
If the man had become an unawakener, there was nothing he could do about the situation.
However, if he had broken universe energy pathways and was on the verge of becoming a crippled awakener like in Arnold's state — Ross Kadmen's son's former state — then there was hope for the man.
The unfortunate part was, he was not currently in the empire's military to be able to examine the man and see if he could make an elixir or pill like the one he made for Arnold to heal him.
But he had one talent-enhancing elixir kept for emergency situations, like the one he made for Arnold. If he was on the verge of becoming a non-awakener, but was still having some traces of his universe energy pathways at work, then there was hope for him.
The talent-enhancing elixir would work in the same way it worked for Ross Kadmen's son.
In Harrison's situation, however, it would not only help him return back to the galactic level — it would first of all restore his universe energy pathways and make them very durable for future breakthroughs.
Kailen was helping Miranda out because of his code.
He would always repay good for good, and evil for evil.
Also, Miranda was an ally who needed his help. He wouldn't turn his back on her.
After these thoughts flashed through his mind for a moment, Kailen decided.
"I may have a solution. However, it depends on the situation."
After Kailen said this, everyone's eyes widened in shock.
He went on to explain the mechanism of action of the elixir behind Arnold's recovery for them to understand.
After this, Jackson said, "He's in our camp at the moment. Just send the elixir to me and the rest will be handled. I hope he's not beyond help, just like you have described."
After that, Jackson, alongside Old Ha and the others, had a few discussions with Kailen.
They even asked Kailen about when they were gonna meet Arrie and the others in person.
Kailen told them that it would be very soon — and it would probably be at the banquet.
Kailen said this because he knew that there was no way Ross Kadmen would invite him to his banquet, knowing how Kailen valued his loved ones, without inviting them to the banquet too.
After a few rounds of conversations, Kailen and his seniors said goodbye to one another — after which they all disappeared from the virtual universe.
*****
Astral Empire, Sea Realm — Atlantis.
Several futuristic-looking towers glittering with azure luminescence spiraled upwards.
Several mermans, mermaids, and other fish-looking humanoid creatures could be seen roaming the streets of the realm.
A particular thing to notice also was the fact that individuals with no connection to the Sea Realm — humans, elves, treants, dwarves, witches, gnomes, etc., amongst other races — could also be seen roaming the streets, and at some point interacting with the actual Atlantis residents.
Contrary to cliché stuff seen in novels, where the Sea Realm harbored absolute hatred for the residents outside the realm, things were entirely different in Atlantis.
If there was one thing about the Sea Realm of the Astral Empire, and even that of the other Empires — it was that they were very accommodating and hospitable.
However, that could not be mistaken for them being pushovers.
Anyone who dared cross the line here would face the consequences.
Anyway, in a large villa in the Sea Realm, a fat merman could be seen pacing around with an extremely worried expression on his face.
The fat merman was, of course, Ethan Revearson's father — the leader of the Revearson Clan, Rango Revearson.
"I can't believe I wanted Ethan to kill such a monster..."
He murmured to himself — something that the other sea creatures, preferably clan elders seated in the large hall, could not help but hear.
Some of them snorted inwardly.
They were very dissatisfied with the rulership of this fellow.
Ever since he became the clan leader, the reputation of the Revearson Clan in Atlantis kept going down the drain.
Had it not been for the leadership qualities of his son, Ethan, the clan would have probably collapsed by now.
The only thing this fucker knew how to do was spend time with women and booze off all day without caring about anything.
He was stupid enough and even had the gall to tell Ethan to kill Kailen Darkhaven, after the spoilt brat, Farell, offended Kailen Darkhaven's right-hand man and got killed.
They couldn't help but wish to strangle the bastard and kill him right now — but the rune oaths that bound them to be loyal to anyone who assumed the position of clan leader restricted them from doing so.
Anyway, they were relieved that, for some reason, Ethan had been unable to make a move on Kailen Darkhaven.
Also, after seeing the expression on Rango's face, it seemed he would tell Ethan to steer clear of Kailen Darkhaven — something that made them extremely relieved, as Kailen Darkhaven was a terrifying young man with terrifying powerhouses backing him, his personal strength aside.
Anyone with a functioning brain would think twice before even thinking of messing with him.
The kid had destroyed three powerhouses of the empire singlehandedly — in a fucking moment — with his own strength and not even with the backing of the powerhouses behind him.
The elders of the clan were therefore relieved that Rango had seen how terrifying Kailen Darkhaven was before he pushed Ethan to make any move.
With the way things were going for the clan, they could only wish that Ethan would find a way to eliminate this old shit once and for all, so that the clan would regain its former glory.
Even if Ethan could eliminate the clan leader, he also had a rune oath that restricted him from harming the clan leader.
How was he going to find a way?
They sighed.
However, they didn't know that Ethan already had a plan in place.
If Ethan couldn't end his father himself, it didn't mean that someone else outside the clan couldn't.
Very soon, Rango would be dead — and not by Ethan's hands, but by the hands of Kailen Darkhaven.
"Call my son and tell him to stop the attack on Kailen Darkhaven."
Rango ordered in fear. He was relieved that he had not made a move on Kailen Darkhaven.
The clan elders sighed in relief.
It seemed even this brainless old fool had some sense in the face of absolute power.
