The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 155: Gathering of the Strong

Aren sat at the back of the cathedral's pews and put his hands together in prayer.

"The wandering sovereign of chains unbound, She who dances upon lawless stars. The Lady of the Disorder, the Virgin of the Unlawful Lands…"

Minutes went by, and he didn't receive an answer to his prayer.

"Brr…"

Aren blew raspberries with his lips, dissatisfied at the lack of response, and then stood up with his hands inside his pockets.

'The goddess must be busy to talk to my lowly self.'

He thought with a sigh, and stepped out of the cathedral, looking at the smog-covered streets with dissatisfaction.

Before he entered the cathedral, the sun was shining, the wind was blowing, and it was rather a good morning.

In those few minutes, the smog cascaded down from the sky, shrouding the streets in the smog's depression and completely altering Aren's mood.

"What a shitty day."

Aren thought out loud, but then he stretched the corners of his lips with his fingers, making a smile.

With a twirl of his cane, he stepped into the cobblestone streets and, with the help of the cane, started making his way back home.

"…"

Without noticing, hiding behind one of the pews of the cathedral, a ghostly-looking figure peeked her head over the top, watching him leave with a grumpy expression.

"Womanizer… Dummy… Idiot sex addict…"

Wren mumbled under her breath.

A few days later, Kornacis, Heavy Smog Street, the Guild.

Click! Click! Click!

Shawn looked at the lighter in hand. He opened it absently and then closed it with a raspy click sound that resembled the sound of a gun cocking.

At that moment, footsteps came from the stairs over on the right. The stairs were going up, so there was someone coming down to the basement of the Guild.

"You were also summoned?"

Peanut said with a smirk.

He sounded very happy, with his peanut-shaped head and darker skin tone that must've come from warmer lands.

"…It must not be very serious if they summoned you out of everybody."

Shawn said, turning his burning eyes towards Peanut, and flicked on the lighter's metal spinning wheel.

A soft flame emerged from it, but it very soon rose like a phoenix and enveloped the waiting room in a burning heat.

"You and your flames. Your obsession with fire needs to be studied. It mustn't be healthy at this point."

Peanut said with a laugh.

Shawn scoffed, closed the lighter, and pocketed it.

At that moment, the door at the end of the left-sided hallway opened, and a person peeked his head out.

"Mister Peanut and Shawn, please enter!"

"Let's see what this is about!"

With a grin, Peanut stood up and skipped to the room while Shawn slowly followed with his hands inside his pockets.

They weren't inside the room, as there were other Guild personnel surrounding a circular table with the map of Brackenford Cross in the center.

"Oh?"

Peanut looked at the person that was sitting at the back. She didn't look all that interested, but to Blessed Ones, she was a very popular figure.

"What in the world is going on… that the Fourth Seat of the Human Council is required to be here?"

"Miriam Corrado…"

Shawn narrowed his eyes.

Miriam Corrado was an ordinary-looking middle-aged woman. She wore glasses, had casual brown hair, and was wearing some old square striped dress.

It was something that old woman would be wearing.

She wasn't the type of woman that was all that interested in keeping up her appearances.

"You two have been summoned for a very specific mission that does not only require strength, but very careful planning."

In that moment, the guild master of the Kornacis branch of the Guild spoke out. He was a handsome man in his early thirties with bright blond hair.

Nathaniel Arashara, the Tenth Seat of the Human Council.

"What is it, sir?"

Shawn asked with a serious look.

It was already clear that it was an important mission if the guild master, Nathaniel Arashara, himself said so, but it seemed to be important enough to bring another member of the Human Council!

It dawned on Shawn and Peanut that there must only be one reason for all of this.

Raid of one of the World Bosses!

"…Near Brackenford Cross, we've recently come to know that the Perverted Justice has moved his nest to nearby forest.

"We have a couple of our men there, ensuring that the Forest of Justice isn't moving anywhere, but Perverted Justice might move his nest again soon.

"We have only a couple of days to prepare for this raid and start heading over to Brackenford Cross."

Nathaniel said, and then with an ink pen in hand, he drew a large circle at one part of the forest near the Brackenford Cross.

"That's where the Forest of Justice is approximately."

Peanut and Shawn looked over. It was not that far away from Brackenford Cross. High chance of innocent casualties.

They both realized that with grim expressions.

"We have three phased plan.

"The first plan is where you, Shawn, and Peanut come in with your guilds. I want you, Shawn, to burn that place to the fucking ground."

Nathaniel said.

"…I can do that."

Shawn said with a smirk.

"While Forest of Justice is burning with Perverted Justice inside, you, Peanut, will cover that area inside your barrier spell."

Nathaniel said.

"Ah… I understand what you are getting at. I can do that, but I do need my guild members to strengthen the spell."

Peanut said.

"Of course. You can bring whoever you want. That is the first phase of the plan, and if that fails to kill Perverted Justice, we will bring our fighters into the mix.

"I will lead a vanguard of fighters, tanks, and healers to go finish off Perverted Justice if he somehow survives the burning.

"If all that fails, and we all die.

"There is a third phase…"

Nathaniel said, then he turned to look over his shoulder, and Miriam stood up with her hands behind her back.

She walked to the table, touched the part of the forest with her long finger, and stabbed it through the map.

"The third phase is that I will erase Brackenford Cross, the forest, and everything nearby into nothingness."

Miriam said.

"…"

Shawn and Peanut gulped.

They were all aware of Miriam's supernatural abilities. She was Divine Ranker, the Fourth Seat of the Human Council, and one of the strongest humans to ever exist.

She was of Mythic Pathway, and she had realized things about the world that would leave everyone else mad.

Thus, she was constantly tap dancing between the line of sanity and insanity.

In the end, she received the class—Half-Lunatic—and her abilities, even among other powerful Divine Rankers, were considered to be some of the most destructive.
