While traveling, the girls came up with all sorts of questions regarding the demon continent they plan to visit soon. Aura, who had been there before, happily told them about the other species that live there, like elves, dwarves, as well as the beastfolk, including some rarer variants like the dragon beastfolk. Hearing all of that, they only wanted to get there even faster because it sounded very fun to them.
"Kelkel's still going strong, huh?" The girls were back traveling along the coastal line of the beastfolk continent when Chloe gestured at the still ever-so-turbulent ocean next to them. Focusing a little on the horizon, it became visible that their dragon friend was busy doing things in and to the water. Borrowing large portions of it, that is.
"I can't wait to see what he does with his ocean in my domain~." Sophia nodded a few times as she smiled in Kel's direction in the distance.
"Yeah, I'm not going to comment on that." Remembering her conversation with Maya yesterday, about trying to get used to their antics, Ari just slowly shook her head.
"Do you think we could use anything from here for our arctic ocean?" Also looking at Kel in the distance for a moment, Chloe then glanced at Steph next to her.
"Hmm." The dog-girl tilted her head. "This is a warm ocean, so most fish and the like probably wouldn't fare too well in icy water. I guess we could spread some seaweed, algae, and plankton and see what sticks around and survives? Actual fish and similar living beings from here might not be the best idea."
"Oh, yeah, that's a good point." She nodded a few times.
"Now we know who to ask for help once we do find a cold ocean, though." Steph gestured at Kel going wild in the distance.
"True!" The fox agreed with her.
"My personal unwillingness aside, I don't think we will get to see a cold ocean anytime soon." Sophia scratched her cheek. "We'd need to get closer to the poles of this planet, and that's so very not on our route at the moment. I know I'm directionally challenged at times, but even when we arrive on the demon continent after crossing the ocean, we're no closer to them, right?"
"I'm in no rush."
"Yup!" Steph and Chloe didn't have an issue with that.
"Great!" The blonde was happy that they weren't upset over that.
"After all, it gives me more time to further grow my eternal ice kingdom to perfection in order to make it the future capital of your domain!"
"Exactly!" Chloe nodded a few times while smiling at Steph.
"Ah." Sophia was a lot less happy about that. "Anna, on a completely unrelated note, I think we should grow our savannah a little bigger."
"Sure!" The princess gave her thumbs-up in return. "We also still need to get a day and night circle going to have animals live there. I'd argue, also on an unrelated note, that this is a necessity for a capital of you ask me."
"You are so right, bestie!" The blonde liked her argumentation a lot.
"Since when is she your bestie?" Ari suddenly sounded the tiniest bit jealous.
"Everyone who helps me containing something that is called eternal ice kingdom, automatically becomes someone I will love very much." Sophia just shrugged in return.
"Okay, I actually can't argue against that." As the jaguar was actually the one in the group hating the cold the most, she had no room for complaints there.

Once that topic was over, the girls returned to walking alongside the coastal track for another hour until they eventually arrived at a smaller village right next to the ocean. Luckily, Kel had also calmed down a bit, so the water looked a lot less turbulent in the area.

Arriving there, the girls had a nice chat with the local because everyone was curious about the interesting group, especially the two royal tigers were quite popular. However, as even the word village was stretching it a little with only around 50 people living in the area, there wasn't overly much to explore, and the group decided to have lunch in the only pub around before continuing their journey.
"Small as this place was, the food was amazing!" Once they had left the village and walked a few meters, Sophia rubbed her stomach with a satisfied expression. "That was one of the best fish I've ever had! I almost wanted to place a portal there just to go eat there every once in a while!"
"True!" Maya, Anna, and Ari had the exact same expression as they energetically nodded a couple of times.
"The cats liked the fish, huh?" Steph let out a small chuckle. "That's unexpected."
"Well, to be fair, it was delicious." Chloe couldn't blame them for their reaction.
"Yeah, that's fair enough." The dog-girl had to agree there. "It was very tasty. It's also a good opportunity to tease our cats, so I have to. Don't you think so, too?"
"No comment." Even though she said that, the fox still started smiling.
"By the way, a massive city just entered my detection range." With a final pat on her stomach, Sophia concentrated for a moment before pointing in the direction they were walking. "It's also right next to the ocean, so it should be the place the mayor from yesterday was talking about."
"Yeah, that must be Agola, then!" Anna happily clapped her hands. "I can't wait to find out if Nathan was actually there and how long ago it was!"
"Agola's also on the list for potential places for a portal." Maya pulled out the list she had gotten from the king when they started their journey. "It seems like it's a more important city in the area."
"Lia, the mayor, did say it's the major trade city in the coastal region, so that definitely makes sense," Ari recalled their conversation from before. "If we're lucky, Nathan, my sister, and the rest of their group stayed there even longer, making it possible for us to catch up to them even more."
"That would be the best!" Hearing that, the princess got even more excited. "Let's not waste any more time and get going!"
"Let's go!" Steph has always been a fan of getting going.
"Sure!" The others had no intention of stopping her, either.
Using her detection magic once more, Sophia tried to find out if there was anything interesting along the way. Still, as she was only able to spot smaller villages like the one they just left, she decided to do another cheeky portal skip to please the princess in her quest to find her brother.
----------------
"There we go~!" The group just exited the portal that the blonde had opened for them when Sophia lightly clapped her hands. "As a heads-up, we're still around 30 kilometers away from the big city. I've spotted a lot of people roaming around, so any closer could've gotten complicated, or, at the very least, hard to explain."
"Awesome!" Anna smiled at her while looking around. Not much had changed from before, as they were still right next to the ocean, but there was now a relatively well-maintained road following the shoreline in front of them.
"Thank you very much for not giving someone a heart attack from your portal randomly appearing right in front of them." Ari was happy that Sophia had thought that far ahead.
"I'm not that stupid, okay?" The blonde shrugged. "Also, I'm not too confident in throwing a stone 200 kilometers away with such accuracy to not hit someone, so I prefer open and empty spaces as the destination."
"Being confident at throwing a stone for 200 kilometers full stop already is something no one usually is confident at." The jaguar wasn't sure if that was so much better.
"I would need, at best, five minutes to teach you how to do that." Sophia stared right at her. "You have more than enough magic to throw a stone much further than that."
"…" Ari had mixed feelings about that, as well.
"Though, without the detection magic, it could be rather dangerous, as there's no way for you to tell if the destination of your throw wouldn't be in a group of people."
"Don't worry, I have no intention of becoming the new portal thrower." She just shook her head a couple of times.
"I'd love to become the new portal master!" Steph liked the idea, though. "Wait, I forgot to ask Fen to teach me how to use the detection magic again!"
"Would you even care to see where it lands?" Maya tilted her head while looking at the dog-girl. "Knowing you, you just want to find out how far you could throw that stone."
"How rude!" She immediately started pointing.
"Yes, Steph is a lot more complex than that." Chloe nodded once while looking at the cat-girl.
"Thank you very much!"
"She also wants to run after it and try to catch it, so the detection magic would be most useful for her to track it while in the air." Chloe tried her best to stifle her laughter while saying so.
"Fair enough." Maya hadn't thought about that.
"Betrayed by my own girlfriend!"
"Am I wrong?" The girlfriend in question cutely tilted her head to the side.
"This and that are unrelated!"
"Ehehe~."
"There's enough time to learn detection magic once we're back in the domain!" Anna was starting to sound impatient. "For now, let's try to reach Agola before it gets dark! I'd like to learn more about Nathan's route as soon as possible!"
Not wanting to make the princess wait, Steph put the topic on hold for the time being, and the girls started walking towards the big trade and port city, known as Agola, in the hope of finding more information about Anna's brother and his group.
