Reborn With a Magic System

Chapter 316 – New Spells

After another week of mapping Damion finally had his wish of finding a Breach rewarded. On reviewing the auto-mapper's progress at the end of a long day, he noticed the undeniable point on his tablet that denoted a Realm Breach.

Unfortunately, this Realm Breach resided on the very edge of his artifact's range and was in the Red Zone. So far, Damion had kept close to the border. With his artifact's range of 25 kilometers, he was able to accurately map out a large swath on both sides of the border, making future patrols by the Crimson Order and others much easier and more efficient.

So far, most of the Ferocious and Demonic Beasts he encountered were only D Rank and below. The few C Rank ones he encountered were also quite weak and he had yet to encounter anything at B Rank or above, which was not a surprise.

A quick check of his personal spatial storage showed Damion he had over 230 carcasses of Demonic Beasts and half that of Ferocious Beasts. He was getting to the point where he needed to return to a city or perhaps to Argentum and have his kills processes so he could get the cores and sell the rest. With more money, he could afford more cores, and each core converted to Magic System credits brought him closer to his goals.

The decision he was struggling with was, should he check the Realm Breach out or just report it to the Crimson Order and let a team of A Rankers look into it? He really wanted to find a labyrinth, it was after all, the first step in establishing a new White Zone. However, if he were to venture more than 20 kilometers into the Red Zone to check out the Realm Breach, his chances of encountering more than he could handle was fairly high.

When the next morning finally arrived, Damion had come to a decision. He would head into the Red Zone.

If he and Phil encountered anything they could not handle, he was fairly certain they could escape. Having the Spatial affinity had its perks. However, just to be on the safe side, Damion decided it was time to expand his repertoire again. Before learning any of the spells Mage Teft had provided him, Damion first decided to increase his spell slots again.

'System, purchase Increase Spell Slots.'

{Affirmative.}

{Increase Spell Slots purchased for 5,062 Credits.}

'System, purchase Increase Spell Slots.'

{Affirmative.}

{Increase Spell Slots purchased for 7,593 Credits.}

Increasing his spell slots by 10 was costly but gave Damion confidence he was not going to suddenly run out of room for new spells for a long while. Of course, his next increase to spell slots would cost more than 11,000 credits. Still, with the rate he was gaining credits from cores, Damion was not too worried he was going to run low on credits for a while.

Now that he had extra room for spells, Damion took a look at the spell list Mage Teft had provided. Water affinity spells would give Damion spells he could potentially use as himself. As an Ice user it was not out of the realm of possibilities to learn Water magic seals. From the list of Water spells, he selected five spells. Two tier 2, a tier 4 and both tier 5 spells available.

With the new spells and quest completions, Damion was able to boost his credit reserve to over a million at long last and move past the halfway point to level 4 of the Magic System. He was officially one percent of the way to buying the Anti-Regression Potion.

Now that he was prepared with new spells, Damion cast Portal and took himself and Phil to as close to the Realm Breach as he could. Looking around, he did not see anyone or any beasts around. Casting Ice Sword, he took to the sky with Phil and the pair headed towards the Realm Breach.

Given the speed they could fly, it would not take them long to reach the Realm Breach. Damion just hoped this Breach would be worth the extra trip. A few minutes later, they were approaching the Breach and when they swooped down near it, True Sight revealed it was only a C Rank Unstable Breach.

Disappointed, Damion was about to cast Portal teleport himself and Phil to where they left off on their mapping the day before when a loud roar erupted causing them both to freeze.

Looking around, Damion quickly spotted what was coming towards them. A B Rank Simurgh. The giant bird had the plumage of a peacock and the head of a dog. However, what worried Damion was its long claws similar to that of a lion, only each claw was larger than he was. The wingspan of the Simurgh was at least fifty meters and easily blocked out the sun.

"Well, at least I can get a workout this morning," Damion commented to himself as he began channeling his mana.
