After Justiciar Straus vanished through the tear in space Damion stood there for a moment wishing the A Rank knight had dropped the A Rank sword he had been using. Still, it was probably for the best. If the sword had been dropped and he had decided to use it, there was a chance someone out there might have recognized the sword as having belonged to Straus.
Now that the fight was over, Damion stopped his Spatial Domain spell and resumed the normal use of his other passive spells. Considering how fast and how strong Straus was, using Spatial Domain had ensured the knight would not be able to make use of spells well or counter Exile.
In the end, the combination had worked, and Damion had defeated an A Rank knight on his own. A remarkable achievement, but Damion was not under the illusion that he had emerged victorious for any reason other than that he was a mage and his opponent a knight that underestimated him greatly.
Damion quickly rushed around to the various battle sites and began destroying the evidence of his and the knight's presence. Using Exile, Damion banished the corpses of the C Rank knights, even the one he carried in the Magic System Inventory.
Once the area was cleaned up, Damion opened a Portal to where he had sent Phil. He found the Snow Hawk was still unconscious and had a broken wing, but other than a few other scratches and ruffled feathers, the Ferocious Beast did not look that bad.
First, he had to get his familiar out of this cage. Reaching out to the enchantments, Damion began pouring mana into them, trying to overwhelm them and burn them out. Unfortunately, he quickly found out that the enchantments were more resilient than he thought.
Damion's next plan was a bit riskier, as he was not sure if anyone had ever tried something like this before. Casting Portal, he opened up a portal with the exit a few meters away and while keeping it open, pushed the end of the cage through. After making sure that no part of Phil was crossing the plane of the Portal, he shut the spell off.
When the spell ended and the Portal collapsed, the end of the cage dropped to the ground and the cage itself had one end now open.
"I have now created the world's first Spatial Can Opener," Damion remarked as he began to gently remove Phil from the cage.
Taking out a C Rank Healing Potion from the Magic System Inventory, Damion carefully began pouring the liquid down the Snow Hawk's throat. He was not sure what effect the Healing Potion would have on the Ferocious Beast, but he hoped it would work the same for Phil as it did for him.
A moment later, Damion was rewarded with the Snow Hawk waking up. After a few seconds the bird's injured wing was healed and all the other wounds on its body were completely recovered.
Phil then began to rub its beak on Damion's chest. The show of affection brought tears of happiness to his eyes as he was relieved to see his companion make a full recovery.
"I took care of all those bad men," Damion told his familiar.

'None for me?'
"No. I killed them all."
'Hungry,' Phil told him after a moment.
Pulling out the last of the Ice affinity cores he had, Damion let Phil gorge himself. Soon enough, he would need to buy more or find more cores for the Ferocious Beast, but for now, he was just happy his friend was going to be okay.
While Phil ate, Damion used Exile to dispose of the cage and then took a look at the notifications from the Magic System. His battle had been intense, and he had used a number of spells he had never or barely used before.

'Ten spells increased in Rank,' Damion thought as he added up his gains. He was nearing the halfway point for the Magic System to reach level 4, not to mention he was closing in on a million credits for the store.
Now that the danger had passed, Damion had to figure out what he wanted to do next. He considered going back and having a proper visit with his family, but considering the events of the last few hours, he decided it would be best to wait. To make sure everyone knew he was a long way from Levande, just in case someone got suspicious.
To the same end, it appeared it was no longer safe to remain in Saung. He thought he would have been out of reach for his enemies in the White Zone. A sort of out of sight, out of mind, situation. Justiciar Straus proved that theory flawed. Damion had not even considered the man as an enemy, but if the knight could strike at Damion in a Green Zone, then any of the other noble families in Argentum could as well.
For his next step, Damion decided on going to Bufort. Once word spread he was there, he would head out to the next town. He had always wanted to see the world, well and now was as good a time as any. Once he convinced people he was out exploring the wilds with his familiar, he could use Portal to visit his family again. Maybe even travel to a few places with A Rank dungeons and join in some runs as a Spatial mage.
Just as Damion was about to contact Leland and let him know he would not be returning for a while; he noticed something was happening to Phil.
