Chapter 360: Mayor Tao and People Lin

Lin Hai had just hung up the phone when he noticed a gorgeous silhouette appearing at the villa's entrance.

"Oh crap." Lin Hai quickly turned to look behind him, making sure Ouyang Xiaoya hadn't noticed, before he relaxed a little and hurried forward: "My dear grandma, why are you here?"

"Yo? Linlin, are you that scared to see me? I'm just used to serving the people, not like I'm going to eat you." Tao Xia said with a laugh, then provocatively pursed her lips towards the villa's window.

Lin Hai quickly grabbed Tao Xia, his heart still pounding, and after making sure there was nothing wrong with the villa window, he quickly pulled her over to the corner and cautiously asked, "My dear Mayor, what brings you here so suddenly?"

Mayor Tao's pretty face turned cold, her aura aggressive as she pressed: "What? I can't come over unannounced? I've been waiting for you for seven whole years, seven long and hard years, and now it turns out I'm the one skulking around like a thief?"

"No, who dares say you're skulking around like a thief? Besides, I'm neither a chicken nor a dog." Lin Hai, with a smile on his face, quickly coaxed her, joking that if Mayor Tao and President Ouyang were to clash, with one being an iron-fisted female mayor and the other an iceberg CEO, their collision would surely be as dramatic as thunder and fire.

"Hmph, if you were a dog, I'd buy an iron chain to keep you tied up all day, not let you go around flirting." Mayor Tao said mercilessly.

"Damn, that's harsh."

Lin Hai swallowed hard.

"Hmph, People Lin, do you know why I'm here?" Mayor Tao's ill-intentioned gaze swept Lin Hai from top to bottom, leaving him feeling completely exposed, which was a bit too much for him to bear, especially with such a fervent look.

"You're not here to 'serve the people' again, are you? Look, I'm telling you, I'm too weak lately to withstand any storms, and how did I become 'People Lin' when I'm with you?" Lin Hai anxiously tightened his belt, terrified that Mayor Tao in her hunger might just take him down right then and there.

"Hmph, I serve the people, so you are naturally the people," Mayor Tao stated matter-of-factly.

"Cough cough, Mayor Tao, what do you really want with me? This place, on this day, is not suitable for 'services.'" Lin Hai coughed awkwardly.

A flash of irritation crossed Tao Xia's eyes as she spoke indignantly, "People Lin, in your eyes, am I just here to 'serve' you? Can't I be here for serious business?"

"You're the mayor, the public servant of the people, of course you should serve the people, that's your duty." Lin Hai blinked, arguing shrewdly.

Tao Xia, hearing the words "serve the people" from Lin Hai's mouth, found them extremely awkward and suggestive, and became slightly angry: "What? You want me to serve the entire city's populace?"

"Damn, Tao, why does your tone sound a bit sleazy?" Lin Hai broke out in a cold sweat just thinking about the implied meaning in Tao's words, knowing she was joking, but... it felt uncomfortable.

Tao Xia's delicate hand reached out and pinched the softest part of Lin Hai's waist sharply, not feeling satisfied, she jabbed him fiercely a few more times before finally stopping.

Lin Hai winced in pain, but dared not make a sound, afraid of drawing Ouyang Xiaoya's attention.

"Queen Tao, take it easy, I see now why you're the iron-fisted female mayor, what a grip," Lin Hai said, rubbing his waist with a pained expression.

"Honey, Old Mr. Tao is looking for you," Tao Xia said, revealing the purpose of her visit after cooling off.

"Why didn't you say that sooner? I thought you were here for a ferocious fight, you gave me a scare."

Lin Hai made a long sigh of relief, pretending to wipe the nonexistent cold sweat from his forehead.

Tao Xia glared fiercely at Lin Hai, grabbed his shoulder, and commanded authoritatively, "The car is outside, hurry up and come with me, Old Mr. Tao has serious matters to discuss."

"Oh, okay."

Lin Hai followed Beauty Tao out, sneakily making sure Ouyang Xiaoya wouldn't notice them. He crawled out from the bushes in the yard, looked back with lingering fear, and then quietly slipped into the car.

"Hurry up, let's go." Lin Hai waved his hand.

Tao Xia glared resentfully at Beast Lin and complained, "Why do I feel like a thief?"

"Tsk tsk, I feel like the apricot tree blooming over the wall. I'm that apricot, and if President Ouyang found out, he'd probably snap my branch off." After saying this, Lin Hai took out a cigarette and tossed it to the soldier who was the driver.

"Sorry, Chief, I don't smoke," said the soldier politely.

Lin Hai nodded, clicking his tongue and said: "Damn, now I've become a Chief, too."

"Hmph, stop flattering yourself."

Tao Xia looked at Lin Hai's smug face and said sullenly, before ordering the driver, "Drive, let's go back to Old Mr. Tao's place."

"Yes, understood!"

The young driver immediately started the car, moving both quickly and smoothly, with the distinctive aura of a soldier.

Upon arriving at Old Mr. Tao's residence.

Lin Hai got out of the car, and the guards on duty immediately saluted.

"Tsk tsk, I got to enjoy the treatment of a Chief too," Lin Hai said to himself with a smile.

"Don't get carried away, let's go." Tao Xia hurried him, still seemingly angry about the earlier events. After all, as the dignified mayor, she had to sneak around to see the man she loved. What irked her the most was that this man was still unmarried, whereas she had to sneak around like this. The more she thought about it, the angrier she felt, nearly gnashing her teeth in frustration.

Seeing Beauty Tao's ashen face, Lin Hai sensed something was wrong; he gave a forced smile and quickly walked ahead.

"Old Mr. Tao, you look even healthier than a few days ago," Lin Hai said with a smile, and this wasn't just flattery; Old Mr. Tao did seem really spirited today.

"Thanks to you, last time you stood out in the Tiger List of the Jiba Storm, recognized as the first place, almost making those old fellas' jaws drop to the floor. I was so delighted," Old Mr. Tao laughed heartily, exuding a sense of triumph.

"Heh heh, that All Gods No Thought guy was very strong too. I was just lucky to win," Lin Hai modestly said.

"Luck is part of strength, and besides, your abilities are there for real, not just luck. Don't play humble in front of this old man, just be straightforward," Old Mr. Tao, with his forthright nature, liked soldiers who were blunt and direct.

"Old Mr. Tao, did you call me here for something?" Lin Hai blinked and asked.

"There is indeed something, quite important," Old Mr. Tao also spoke directly, without beating around the bush.

"Oh? What is it?" Lin Hai listened attentively.

"You took first place in the Tiger List of the Jiba Storm, and tomorrow the competition for the Dragon List will be held. This time, a Legendary predecessor from the Inner Palace will host it. After all, the death of Hu Li upset the higher-ups last time. If All Gods No Thought hadn't disappeared so quickly, I reckon he would have been captured and locked up by now."
