Abnormal Gourmet Chronicle

Chapter 339: Stir-Fried Yam

For the next few days, Zang Liang still hadn't found his rhythm.

However, Qin Huai felt it wasn't a big problem. Although Zang Liang couldn't find his rhythm, there's no denying he was a very talented person. His inability to find his rhythm was different compared to Tan Wei'an's.

Tan Wei'an truly couldn't find it, while Zang Liang was at least progressing. The Crab Yellow Sauce he thickened was gradually developing into the type both Qin Huai and Zheng Siyuan wanted.

It's just that Zang Liang himself hadn't realized it.

Both Qin Huai and Zheng Siyuan tacitly decided not to tell Zang Liang. As masters of rhythm, Qin Huai knew well that rhythm is often imperceptible.

Many times, you think you haven't found your rhythm, but in reality, you've already touched the edge of it.

Qin Congwen: Huaihuai, your grandpa heard you're coming back today and specially arranged for someone to deliver two live free-range chickens to the City. Make sure to bring them when you visit Master Cao, don't go empty-handed.

Qin Huai: Got it, Dad, don't worry, I understand, I won't go empty-handed, I've brought plenty of raw snack dough.

Sitting on the plane, Qin Huai finished the message, disconnected from the internet, switched his phone to airplane mode, and instinctively glanced to his side.

The seat next to him was empty.

Sigh, a bit disappointing.

Ever since running into Cheng Gong on a plane, every time Qin Huai took a flight, he hoped a spirit he didn't previously know would sit beside him. They would chance upon each other, hit it off, add each other on WeChat, and the game system would release a task. The storyline proceeds as if the author is forcibly adding characters because they can't continue the story.

Unfortunately, each time Qin Huai flew thereafter, the seat next to him was unoccupied.

It seems businesses are truly down for airlines these days, even first class isn't selling.

Qin Huai had booked a flight departing at 2 PM. Initially, he wanted to book an earlier flight. The earlier he left, the earlier he'd arrive. Qin Huai would be staying at Cao Guixiang's house for a few days and didn't wish to arrive too late and disturb Cao Guixiang and Zhang Chu.

Cao Guixiang didn't mind though. She specifically instructed Qin Huai not to book a morning flight to avoid the tiredness of an early rush. A noon flight was just perfect; once landed, it was just in time for dinner.

Following Cao Guixiang's advice, Qin Huai didn't rush in the morning but rather got up early to make snacks. He prepared a large batch of Three Meat Buns, Four Happiness glutinous rice balls, and Fermented Rice with Steamed Buns' raw dough, filling two whole suitcases, making the luggage overweight.

It's foreseeable that Zhang Zhiyun and Chang Qingqing's breakfasts for the next two weeks will be very sumptuous.

On the plane, idle anyway with no one beside him, he wouldn't be mistaken as a lunatic by the passenger next door for tapping away at nothing. Qin Huai opened the game panel to watch the sticky rice cake video tutorial.

Over the past few days, Qin Huai had made quite a few sticky rice cakes, all reaching B-level or B-level minus, but never B-level plus.

Qin Huai had asked Zheng Siyuan why his sticky rice cakes were far inferior to other snacks. Zheng Siyuan explained that it was because Qin Huai was unfamiliar with rice cake-type snacks; these required practice more than skill. They had no high technical demands and rarely any elaborate designs. Sticky rice cakes were relatively fancy among rice cakes, yet only had a coating of sugar powder.

Previously, Qin Huai hadn't made many rice cakes, so naturally lacked experience and wasn't as good with rice cake-type snacks as other pastries.

Qin Huai agreed with Zheng Siyuan's viewpoint but also felt it was because during making rice cakes, he hadn't quite found the rhythm.

Qin Huai had watched the sticky rice cake video tutorial many times, mostly while on a plane. In terms of action, method, or techniques, he could replicate exactly what was done in the tutorial, yet lacked the effortless grace the person in the video displayed while making the rice cake.

After watching the tutorial eight or nine times, the more Qin Huai watched, the more he felt his sticky rice cakes were missing that graceful flow.

But how could he achieve such graceful movements himself? Was it a matter of skill level? Or was the graceful flow on rice cakes akin to Cao Guixiang's thickening; a technique he hadn't mastered?

"Didn't expect making sticky rice cakes to be such a technical thing." Qin Huai mumbled.

The flight attendant hearing Qin Huai's mumbling, hurriedly approached, thinking this passenger — who stared vaguely into the air since he'd boarded — wanted something to drink, crouched down to ask, "Hello, would you like something to drink?"

"Coke, remember to add ice, thank you." Qin Huai said, closing the game panel, and began gulping down the iced Coke, while recalling the video tutorial he'd just watched, pondering what was he missing during his rice cake making.

After pondering, no conclusion was reached, the only outcome was realizing there weren't enough ice cubes, the iced Coke wasn't cold enough.

Until the plane landed, Qin Huai hadn't figured out the secret to making sticky rice cakes flow with grace.

There was someone to greet Qin Huai at the airport.

It wasn't Cao Guixiang or Zhang Chu; it was the grandson of the village's Old Secretary, instructed by Mr. Qin to bring Qin Huai the free-range chickens.

Two plump and robust chickens, with their feathers indicating excellent care, were tied up in owner's vehicle trunk, clucking energetically, destined for an exceptional chicken soup. Clearly, they weren't raised by Mr. Qin and Granny Qin, likely obtained from the village's chicken expert.

"Qin Huai, these two free-range chickens are a gift from your grandpa, and that box holds two boxes of eggs sent by my grandpa for you. Give me your suitcase; where do you want to go? I'll take you there." Old Secretary's grandson, a sturdy man standing 1.8 meters and weighing 180 kilograms, works at a construction site and is said to hold a minor leadership position. Due to regular hauling, his car seemed dusty and worn.
