"Even if I was, we can't do anything. Not in your current condition." He leaned down as if he was going to kiss her. She closed her eyes in eager anticipation of what was to come. She waited one second, then two, and then a few seconds passed, but nothing ever touched her.
He bit his bottom lips in amusement, resisting the temptation of laughing at her. She looked so adorable, her eyes closed, lips slightly puckered. When he saw her eyebrows slightly come together, he wanted to tease her more.
He pinched her nose. "What were you waiting for?"
Her eyes flew open in annoyance. There was a slight blush to her cheeks at being caught by him. "I wasn't waiting for anything." She huffed, turning her face slightly away from him. She hoped her long hair would hide her embarrassment.
"Then why did you close your eyes?"
"You look so ugly up close, I didn't want to look at you any longer."
He let out a burst of throaty laughter. His rare laugh was as warm as the first day of summer. Her chest swelled at how charismatic he looked when he laughed, his eyes turning into crescent moons. Even his teeth were perfect! Seriously, is there any flaw on his face aside from his dark circles?! She couldn't help but feel annoyed that if he laughed more often, his female fans would increase.
"Really now?" He asked her, tracing her bottom lip with his thumb, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Yes, really. Now go away, you're ruining my eyesight with your ugliness." She tried to turn her head away from him, but his fingers held her chin firmly.
She gulped in surprise when he suddenly leaned in, his appealing lips hovering close to her ear, his breath tickling her ears. She felt her fingers curl around his arm, clenching it. "Hm, that's funny. You always look at me as if you're undressing me with your eyes." His voice had become husky and seductive, making her shiver and her toes curl.
"That's how you look at me. Don't get it mixed up." She retorted, despite the fact that she sounded breathless.
He internally cheered at the effect he had on her. He moved his hand from her chin to gently cup her cheek, his thumb caressing the smooth, soft skin beneath it. She leaned into his touch, completely bewitched. "At least I don't deny it, unlike the lady in question." He whispered, kissing the back of her ear.
Her hand slid on the bed, accidentally brushing against his. Before she could move it away, he quickly grabbed it, releasing her cheek and shifting his weight onto his other arm.
"I'm denying it because it's not true— mmph!"
He swooped in to capture her lips in a passionate kiss. His hand slid to the back of her neck, angling it so her lips fit against his perfectly, allowing him access to kiss her deeper and harder. He sucked and tugged at her lips, his mouth expertly moved, forcing out a tiny moan from her. Her legs had turned weak and wobbly, but his arms held her up.
When her fingers began to trail up his spine, her touch feather soft, he was beginning to lose his mind.
"Ah!" She gasped when he suddenly bit her bottom lips and he seized that opportunity to thrust his slick and hot tongue into her mouth. His kiss felt demanding, rough, and a bit...desperate? It was as if he was trying to make up for the past two weeks where he hadn't been able to touch her.
Breathless, they pulled apart, gasping for air. She felt his fingers curl tighter around her waist, squeezing the side. Lifting her hazy eyes, her face heated when she saw his slightly bruised lips. She felt her body become warmer when she looked into his eyes. It was filled with lust and desire for her as if his entire body was set ablaze. He looked as if he wanted to take her right then and there.
Unconsciously, she pressed her body to him, allowing him to feel every curve of her tempting body. Instantly, he felt the friend down there harden for her. She tilted her head, her bright red lips curving into a tiny smile. "Yang Feng—"
"Wait, don't talk." His voice was gruff and tight.
Zhao Lifei felt something solid press against her stomach. She squirmed at the uncomfortable feeling, but at the tiniest movement, it became rock hard. She blinked his surprise, her lips slightly parted in shock.
Oh.
Yang Feng gritted his teeth. "Don't move so much. You'll make me lose control." He could barely speak properly due to the desire that's surging through his body. He squeezed her waist in an attempt of holding himself back, but the more he looked at her dazed expression, flushed cheeks, and inviting ruby lips, the more he was willing to throw any logic out of the window.
He had promised her he would wait, and he thought he would be able to stay away from her lips until she initiates things on her own. But having tasted those delectable lips once, how can he keep himself from coming back?
He didn't think a woman would ever make him this crazy. The way her body reacted to him, her breathless moans, the way her lips molded perfectly against his, and how she tried to match his pace...Everything about her made it hard for him to think about anything else aside from her.
Every part of him wanted her, yet, he knew that she may not be able to enjoy his intensity. He only used to care about fulfilling his needs in the past, but with her, he wanted to be careful. She deserves the best.
"What have you done to me?" He muttered, looking down at her. She tilted her head, confused at his words.
"You've come into my life and messed with my heart and brain. I can barely think rationally and properly when I kiss you."
Her heart pounded against her chest at his words.
"I worry about you and what you think of me. From dawn to dusk, my mind is always occupied by you. I think I'm going crazy." He cupped both her cheeks as he pressed his forehead against hers, watching as she stared into his eyes. He saw his reflection within her eyes, clear and sharp.
"You should take some responsibility for doing this to me."
"You think you're the only one like this?" She mused, remembering the day that he stormed out of her apartment and she had to practically force her brain to think about something else. But no matter what she tried to do, he was always at the back of her mind, his face was an image engraved within her brain.
"You should also take responsibility." She could still feel the prickling pain in her heart when he left her, never once looking back.
The fear of losing him was strong, so much that she was scared of her own heart. How can one be so infatuated with a person to this extent? She knew she loved too deeply, but she didn't expect herself to completely fall in love with him like this.
She wondered when it started. Her brain was telling her that perhaps it started when he saved her from the banquet, but there was a whisper from her heart that seemed like it had been there for an extremely long time. He was overbearing and insufferable, yet she liked that part of him. Although it was not the main reason, being genuinely pursued by someone as sincere as Yang Feng felt extremely comforting to her...there was actually someone out there that wanted her as much as she wanted him.
"I suppose we should both take responsibility." He could feel his heart soar with her words.
She also couldn't get him out of her mind? Didn't that mean that their relationship had progressed far beyond his expectations? Did it mean she liked him back? He couldn't help but react like an inexperienced teenage boy whose first love has finally reciprocated his feelings.
A slow, beautiful smile graced her face. For once, she did not disagree with him.
Seeing that tender smile on her face, he felt his heart swell with happiness. He suddenly let go of her face to wrap his arms around her, pulling her into a tight embrace.
He was scared this was just a dream and that he had made it all up in his head. The more their relationship improves, the more he was scared of losing her. He didn't think someone would be able to sway him this much.
Since when did he start to feel like this? When did his irrational fear and emotions begin to develop for her? He thought back to their first encounter as a child, where she happily greeted him despite the displeased scowl that was always on his face and his eyes that illuminated a murderous chill.
All the other kids were too scared to interact with him, but she was the first to present him with a smile as blinding as the sun and as pure as snow. He now know...even after the years of separation, his feelings for her had always remained within him, no matter how much he tried to push it away.
