If he were lucky, he might even obtain witchcraft akin to "Transformation Spell" or "Life Spell," which defy the heavens.

Even without those, he would still gain pure Divine Power.

Of course, corresponding with these tremendous benefits were terrifying dangers.

If another wizard were to undertake his form of 'meditation,' they likely wouldn't be able to withstand a single pollution and would turn directly into a monster.
