Green Dragon Ridge Lake, where the green-tinted water surged at a leisurely pace, ripples raised by the night breeze, and a hazy mist enveloped a secret realm in another world. Moonlight scattered upon a magnificent, tranquil school in its slumber.
Aside from the noise from Queen Serano's takeoff, the entire school was eerily silent.
Library Tower, first floor, reading area.
Tang Qi sat on a comfortable cushion, surrounded by tables made of dark red Brahma wood, piled high with various books to the point where Willnas, the little fairy, struggled to find space to add tea and pastries for her master.
The categories of books were all related to the Great Catastrophe, the Lord of Thorns, the Holy Confessor, and the like.
It was a stroke of luck that this was happening at Merada Special Education School; other organizations, even the Ancient Castle Bureau, might not have such an abundance of mysterious tomes.
This is linked to the attribute of the Witch School. Witches are born with a strong desire for knowledge.
Without delving into research, the moment Tang Qi began reading, he quickly discovered that this was an unexpectedly huge undertaking, far more challenging than any subject he had ever encountered.
Concerning the "Great Catastrophe," there was a wealth of records and speculation on the Mysterious Side.
Perhaps this was currently the most exciting, endlessly speculated, but still unsolved mystery.
In addition, information related to the "Lord of Thorns" was scarce. This divine being, second only to the Lord of Light in the Light Camp, was undeniably powerful; every war between divinities bore witness to their presence.
But, all glory returned to the Light, to the great Master.
And the Lord of Thorns conveyed a different doctrine related to Order and Justice.
The "Thorny Law Code," which had been revised many times and referred to by numerous camps and nations for implementation, was a clear testament to their influence.
Finally, the books with keywords like Saint Confessor Martin Sims, Saint Prophet Piers, Rotten Head... the volume only continued to skyrocket. Under the illumination of the magic lights, the little fairy kept adding tea and water, mostly dozing off.
Tang Qi's figure sat erect under the Radiance, throughout the entire night.
Until the early morning of the next day, without any pause.
The progress of reading the mysterious books spread out on the surrounding tables had just passed the halfway mark.
Snap!
A book titled "Great Catastrophe Survivors Examination" was suddenly closed, Tang Qi blinked his eyes, and instead of continuing to the next book, he stopped. He took a sip of the transcendent fragrant milk tea freshly added by the little fairy and began summarizing the information he received last night in his mind.
"The world timeline of Origin Star, the long-past Age of Ignorance, or the even more inscrutable Origin Era aside, the richest historical record is undoubtedly from the Dark Era that was closest to the New Calendar."
"The period known as the 'Great Catastrophe' was, in fact, a war that lasted a full thousand years."
"The number of participating divinities, species, and worlds was beyond calculation; humans were almost completely inconspicuous in it. Their sole benefit, which was also a misfortune, was that humanity was situated at the 'battlefield' center."
"According to the records, the cause of that catastrophe is now hard to verify; well, if Martin Sims's avatar wasn't lying, the reason was for something called 'Eternity'."
"The only viewpoint all scholars unanimously agree upon is that at least ninety percent of all spirits 'above' the Mysterious had joined the fray. Though in the end, the main battlefield was no longer Origin Star but moved into the vast expanse of the Mysterious."
"Even so, that catastrophe caused unimaginable damage to Origin Star. When it ended, nearly all divinities had gone silent."
"This 'disconnection' could mean falling, sleeping, or being sealed."
"In short, including the Bright Church, most organizations could no longer contact their deities. The Lord of Light, the Lord of Thorns, the Master of the Crucible, the Master of Darkness, the Master of Ancient Gods, the Master of Dreams... these Dominator-level gods no longer responded to any prayers, only their projections continuing some mechanical work."
"That period was also the final epoch of the Dark Era. Due to the death of many species and camps, humans witnessed an explosive development. The Old Continent's order was reshaped, and a vast nation emerged on the New Continent."
"Led by the Twelve Saints, human heroes established the Divine Eagle Federation at the end of the Great Catastrophe."
"There's a speculation, or better said, a phenomenological observation, that after the Great Catastrophe ended, the world suffered heavy damage, a certain kind of 'element' began to decline. Although it continued for a couple of hundred years, with the end of the old calendar and the arrival of the Mysterious Meteor, the Spiritual Tide quickly vanished."
"That period encompassed major events including the establishment of the Federation and civil wars, with the Saints remaining active. For instance, evidence indicates that the Holy Confessor, Martin Sims, briefly left the New Continent at the start of its founding, towards the end of the Great Catastrophe and entered the 'Mysterious' to participate in the war."
"In the hypothesis of the 'Great Catastrophe Survivors Examination,' Martin Sims is also one of the prime suspects."
"After the Catastrophe ended, some minor gods or Exotic Realm Monsters that had not participated in the war attempted to infiltrate Origin Star during its vulnerable state, only to be brutally suppressed by the Twelve Saints and other human heroes."
"The Federation's bloody history of establishment, when compared to the 'Great Catastrophe,' can be passed with a single statement."
...
Tang Qi sipped the fragrant milk tea, reviving his spirits as he slowly digested the knowledge in his mind.
One night was not enough to claim he was an expert in the Great Catastrophe, but he certainly had gained a comprehensive understanding.
However, the information he sought remained elusive.
"Could it be that Martin Sims is likely a survivor of the Great Catastrophe, and the one who protected him and ensured his survival was possibly the reincarnated Lord of Thorns?"
"If that's the case, why doesn't he seek cooperation with the Church?"
"Instead, why does he spend so much time arranging things like the Confession Road and Divine Avatars, which seem like redundant backups?"
Tang Qi pondered, ready to continue his research.
Suddenly, a glittering, golden little creature, a Willnas Little Fairy addicted to guest-starring as an administrator, arrived with an armful of newspapers.
Tang Qi watched the tottering little fairy and couldn't help but smile.
He casually took the papers; they were part of his earlier instructions.
He quickly flipped through the newspapers; another day had gone by, and the contents had not changed much from yesterday, still headlining news related to him.
There was no news of the Ascetic who received the inheritance of the Holy Confessor.
"Suppressed?"
He muttered to himself, then affirmed his speculation.
"No matter who the person who received Sims' inheritance is, he is now parasitized by the Second Rotten Head. Hmm, this person is also a major suspect in the Great Catastrophe Survivors, plus the information revealed by that young man that night, it's normal for the major organizations of the Federation to tacitly cover it up."
Disappointed, Tang Qi tossed aside most of the newspapers and then saw the familiar 'Mysterious Daily·Secret Phoenix Chapter,' along with a note from Professor Eva.
The headline of the Secret Phoenix Chapter was related to Tang Qi, but it was not about him.
On it was a vivid image:
Under the hazy moonlight reflecting on Saint Martin Lake, a grotesquely shaped plane, like an ancient, fierce female dragon, hovered.
Below, was an almost one-sided "slaughter."
A dozen children, like demons, baptized the abnormalities within Saint Martin Lake.
Those abnormalities, which created many urban legends and demon rumors, encountered a collective cleansing. Their once proud abilities became extremely fragile in front of the dozen children, barely putting up a fight.
During the process, some horrifying roars came from the depths of Saint Martin Lake's bottom.
That signified that some even more powerful abnormalities seemed to smell the "delicious" scent and attempted to awaken from their slumber.
But before they could act, in the distance, the vast lake surface of Green Dragon Ridge Lake, connected to Saint Martin Lake by the Secret Phoenix River, within the white vast mist, suddenly rose a huge dragon-shaped phantom.
A penetrating dragon's roar resounded, and an overwhelming dread descended from afar.
Green Dragon Breath!
Tang Qi didn't need to guess; he could make a judgment just with the appearance of a phantom.
Especially the person controlling the "Green Dragon Breath," fearing insecurity, a Goddess made purely of Flames seemed ready to condense and erupt at any moment behind the "Ancient Green Dragon."
When these disturbances occurred, the most terrifying abnormalities deep in Saint Martin Lake immediately halted.
The other evil abnormalities could only wail, just like the scenes when they usually tortured humans who strayed in.
After the video ended, the text headline appeared:
"What kind of Principal raises what kind of students!"
"Breaking news: Last night, a dozen students from the Merada Special Education School launched a collective raid on Saint Martin Lake, claiming it was to carry out a group task to clean Saint Martin Lake. The cleansed targets were the Extraordinary Creatures that committed severe mischief."
"The raid temporarily ended, resulting in the death of dozens of Evil Camp Extraordinary Creatures. Due to the uncertainty of a second raid, the evil creatures of Saint Martin Lake had to plan a collective relocation."
"The Ancient Castle Bureau, Church, and many Neutral Organizations expressed support!"
"A few Evil Organizations and Extraordinary Creatures issued solemn protests, claiming the Witch School was being too domineering."
Looking at the last piece of information, Tang Qi curled his lips and laughed lightly, unconcerned.
He then glanced at Eva's note, which explained that it was her decision to back up the children with "Green Dragon Breath" and "Flame Goddess," and indeed there was a second raid planned; last night was just a warm-up.
With a tap of his finger, Tang Qi traced a word on the note using Magic Power.
"Okay!"
Immediately after, he handed the note back to the little fairy, and he turned back to his own business.
In front of him, a book called "Big Catastrophe Conspiracy Theory" slowly opened.
