Armor-Piercing Munition: Face Me, Carbon-Based Monster!

Chapter 252: Laser Array

New World.

The term echoed in Lin Yu's mind, slightly unfamiliar to him.

He walked towards the door; sunlight spilled onto him, his skin subtly warming.

This was something he had never experienced before.

In the village in the distance, smoke curled up from delicately structured cottages.

Lin Yu sniffed carefully, faintly catching the scent of burning wood.

The voice from the void had disappeared—vanishing the moment he stepped out of that room.

Along with that room, which seemed it shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Lin Xu didn't continue forward but turned and pounced back.

He had heard legends about Jinling New City, and his first reaction was that the room had hidden underground.

But in reality, there was no crack on the surface.

Even if he pulled away the grass above and uprooted the orderly growing shrubs, beneath the ground, he could only see damp earth.

And worms and beetles wriggling in the soil.

This was a.....

Ordinary, yet unfamiliar world to him.

He was undoubtedly underground in Mountain City, but why was it possible for such a world to be hidden here?

The sky here was both high and distant, with the sun hanging high above.

Lin Yu stared intently at the sun, his eyes tearing up from the dazzling sunlight, yet the sun remained unchanged.

Perhaps, should he go and take a look in that village?

Where there's smoke, there must be people.

They might know what place this really is?

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Yu stepped forward.

The closer he got to the village, the more he felt that this world was completely different from any world he was familiar with.

The croaking of frogs came from the riverbank at the village entrance, but that croak was evidently too... delicate.

In the real world, every frog was as big as a dog.

Yet here, the frogs were pathetically small...

Not only that.

This village seemed a little too... peaceful.

No walls to be seen, no towers, no windows reinforced shut, and no bizarre sculptures for warding off monsters.....

As if, there were simply no monsters here at all.

----Right!

If he was underground in Mountain City, how could there be any monsters here?

Lin Yu blinked in realization, and as he moved forward again, suddenly a voice sounded beside him.

"Are you new here?"

Lin Yu halted abruptly, turning back quickly, just in time to see a woman carrying a water bucket walking over from the riverbank.

In his eyes, she was an incredibly beautiful woman.

Fair skin, long flowing hair.

Her figure wasn't exactly thin, but yet remarkably slender.

"I'm talking to you."

The woman spoke again, with a look of puzzlement:

"Can't you hear me?"

"I can hear you."

Lin Yu realized, and asked in return:

"What is this place?"

"Here? This is Fish Mouth Village."

The woman pointed at the signpost at the village entrance, and Lin Yu looked in the direction she pointed, seeing three arrows on the signpost.

"Mountain City."

"Shuangping Town."

"Nanping Town."

Mountain City.

Lin Yu frowned slightly.

"Aren't we in Mountain City?"

"That's right!"

The woman nodded matter-of-factly, then said:

"It's over thirty kilometers from here to Mountain City, if you want to go there, you can only drive yourself."

"It's hard to call a cab here, and even ride-hailing services don't always accept rides."

"But no worries, you don't need to go to Mountain City so soon..."

"Just stay here first."

"Your room should already be ready."

"How do you know?"

Lin Yu asked sharply.

This woman didn't know him, yet she knew his room was already prepared....

"There's only one new spot available recently, and that's you."

"You didn't think anyone could just come to this place, did you?"

"...I don't know."

Lin Yu answered somewhat bewildered.

And the woman waved her hand nonchalantly, continuing:

"Come with me."

"Stay in the village first."

"Your room.... is this way!"

"Okay."

Lin Yu didn't know what to do, so he could only follow the woman into the village.

In this small village, there were quite a few people, all of whom were looking at Lin Yu with curious eyes, making him slightly uneasy.

But fortunately, he soon arrived at the entrance of his 'room.'

Saying room might be better described as a small courtyard.

The woman set down the water bucket in her hand and pointed at the entrance, saying:

"Go verify your iris."

"Just stand at the entrance and look at the glowing camera."

"It'll be quick."

"Oh right, your face is your room key."

"In the future, just use face recognition to enter your home."

"...Okay."

Lin Yu stepped forward, and the light flickered before him.

Moments later, the gate to the courtyard opened.

He recognized it as some kind of mechanical device, but he had never seen a machine so quiet and efficient.

After entering the courtyard, he seemed to finally gain some semblance of security.

The layout here gave him a familiar illusion, as though he had seen it somewhere before.

But when he tried to recall it, he couldn't remember at all.

He pushed the door to enter the living room, where a blanket was spread out on the brand-new sofa.

He instinctively reached out to lift the blanket, thinking something might be hidden underneath.

But in reality, there was nothing.

And this house itself was just an ordinary little house.

Perhaps he really had arrived in the 'New World.'

Lin Yu sat down on the sofa, and there was a plate on the coffee table filled with fresh, unfamiliar fruit.

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Yu picked up an orange-yellow fruit and popped it into his mouth.
