Fatal Strike: Mercenary Road of Gunfire Ranger

Chapter 523: Ready-Made Evidence

Mountain Eagle and his team were hiding in the middle warehouse filled with cardboard boxes; several of them lay on the ground, hands over their heads, curled up in a fetal position.

The shockwave from the explosion lifted the colored steel tiles on one side of the opposite warehouse and smashed them onto the roof of their warehouse.

A thick steel bar slammed horizontally against the rolling shutter door of the warehouse, emitting a thunderous noise.

The shockwave and loud noises made Mountain Eagle and his team feel as though they were trapped inside a giant bell, and even with noise-canceling headphones, their heads felt dazed as if they had been punched.

Truth be told, the power of two kilograms of C4 was not enough to wipe out all the enemies...

The explosion was high-leveled, without accompanying shrapnel and without a focusing effect; it merely destroyed a section of the warehouse's roof and collapsed a wall.

Mountain Eagle, viewing from Crow's high-up perspective, saw the damaged warehouse section looking as if it had been bitten in the middle like a sugarcane, revealing a huge gap...

The surrounding enemies were dispersed radially from the impact of the explosion blast...

Some of them died, but those located at both ends of the warehouse were still alive.

However, by this time, they had utterly lost their will to fight!

When sirens sounded outside, and armored vehicles stormed into the storage area, any of the remaining individuals who could move began to scatter and flee, leaving behind those physically injured and mentally shattered.

The explosion caused a small-scale fire...

As Daniel rushed into the disaster scene and handcuffed a few trying to escape, he summoned Rosa to put on a gas mask and follow several SWAT officers into the core area of the confrontation.

Looking at the warehouse floor almost covered with shell casings and the chaotic inside due to the blast, Daniel hurriedly started searching...

Just when he pushed a shelf aside to check if anyone was underneath, a hidden door in the corner opened.

Mountain Eagle, covering his mouth with one hand and carrying a deeply unconscious middle-aged Mexican with the other, walked out with Daria and Tiffany...

Seeing the SWAT at the entrance with their guns raised, Mountain Eagle, holding the prisoner in one hand to block the line of fire, shouted at Daniel, "Hey, tell them to lower their guns, this guy is from the Replacer Organization, issuing tasks to the lower echelon.

Put those damn guns down!"

Daniel saw the fierce determination in Mountain Eagle's eyes, immediately waved his hand in front of the SWAT's muzzles, loudly told them to lower their weapons, then quickly beckoned to Mountain Eagle saying, "sir, it's not safe to stay here, I need to get out of here!"

Mountain Eagle turned his head to see Daria and Tiffany coughing while covering their mouths. He nodded and then shook his head, carrying the prisoner out of the warehouse toward the northern end where their warehouse was located.

Due to the direction of the wind, this area had avoided the smoke. Mountain Eagle handed the prisoner over to two SWAT officers...

"Take good care of him, his life is more important than yours!

If you lose him, you would not be able to find the mastermind behind Los Angeles' Replacers."

The two SWAT glanced at each other and then carefully lifted the prisoner...

Seeing the SWAT were no longer ready to engage him directly, Mountain Eagle loosened his neck and shoulders, then roared and sprinted forward two large steps...

The final step landed heavily, his waist twisting and driving his body to spin, followed by a swiftly retracted right leg that fiercely powered up...

"Boom"

A fiercely vicious spinning kick hit the side of the warehouse's rolling shutter door...

The tremendous force lifted the aluminum alloy shutter door along with its tracks mounted on the wall!

Seeing Mountain Eagle going berserk, Daniel curiously asked, "What are you doing?"

Mountain Eagle kicked the rolling door and pointing to the distorted corner said, "You go take a look..."

Daniel frowned as he squatted at the corner, pulling out a flashlight to shine inside...

"oh shit, this is a vault..."

The explosion vibration caused the warehouse interior to shake; Mountain Eagle's Golden Cicada keenly captured and relayed this information to him, which alerted him that there was more to the three interconnected warehouses.

Mountain Eagle slightly nodded and said, "This might be the reason those people were recklessly attacking this place..."

Rosa stepped forward to check, then stood up facing Mountain Eagle with a complex expression, "This might not be the only reason!"

Mountain Eagle frowned and asked, "What do you mean?"

Rosa glanced at Daniel, her expression grave, "My people checked the identities of a few attackers; those attackers seem to be police officers or former police officers..."

Rosa glanced at the middle-aged Mexican being held up by the two SWAT, her expression heavy, "Police can't go to prison, they and their families cannot afford the consequences of being implicated when the Replacers are exposed.

The mastermind behind the Replacers knows this very well, hence he notified these people...

From the looks of it, these people weren't particularly well-prepared, if..."

Mountain Eagle helplessly waved his hand and said, "I knew about the corrupt police, but I didn't expect so many would come together to attack me.

But this indicates I've hit their weak spot, so they are desperately fighting out of fear!"

Mountain Eagle spoke as the firefighters began to enter the scene...

The fire was not particularly large; when the fire trucks arrived near the scene and connected the hoses, it took less than ten minutes of spraying with high-pressure water guns to extinguish the flames.

At the same time as the fire was being extinguished, several firefighters arrived at the location where Mountain Eagle and his group were with stretchers and tools...

Daniel had them use the tools to break open the warehouse doors...

The moment the doors were torn open, with the light from outside pouring in, everyone standing at the doorway involuntarily inhaled a breath of air tinged with the smell of scorching...

"FUCK..."

Inside the warehouse, there were shelves on both sides, and in the back, there was a hydraulic manual forklift, with two large metal pallets in the center, neatly stacked with bundles of banknotes, piling up to nearly 1.2 meters high.

If they were 100-dollar bills, one pallet would roughly amount to one hundred million dollars!

Mountain Eagle followed Daniel and Rosa into the warehouse, watching Daniel, who exuded a criminal vibe, as he lay on the money and let out a satisfied sigh. Mountain Eagle chuckled and said, "Remember our agreement; 15% of this is mine, and it's tax-free."

Saying so, Mountain Eagle glanced at each pile of money, shook his head disdainfully, then shifted his focus to the shelves...

One pile was old 20-dollar bills, and the other was a mix of old 10-dollar and 5-dollar bills.

Together, these stacks amounted to about 27-28 million dollars, but Mountain Eagle showed no covetousness towards them.

Because they were crucial evidence for dismantling the Replacer Organization, and he could legally obtain 15% of it.

Tax-free, and deposited directly into the bank account without needing laundering, the money could be freely used anywhere; with these advantages, Mountain Eagle had no need to covet this ill-gotten wealth.

Seeing that Daniel was done reveling and was starting to work with Rosa to take photos for evidence, Mountain Eagle shook his head with a smile and examined the items on the shelves...

The shelves were filled with 'trophies,' which were premium items like designer watches, jewelry, antiques, and oil paintings that clearly did not come through regular channels...

Thinking about the nature of the Replacers, one could deduce that these items were either commissions from clients or looted from victims.

Seeing Mountain Eagle wanting to pick up a gem-encrusted dagger to inspect, Daniel 'heh'ed and threw him a pair of gloves, saying, "Don't leave fingerprints; the forensic team will be here soon."

Mountain Eagle compliantly put on the gloves and picked up a gold dagger to examine...

It was averagely made, but ancient, with a row of Latin inscriptions carved on the blade's hilt.

These were likely not counterfeits here, so it was probably a personal dagger owned by a once-prominent noble family.

Mountain Eagle put down the dagger, whose gold content wasn't very high, and after wandering around the warehouse, lost interest.

These items were presumably valuable, but they had nothing to do with him; he didn't think items obviously associated with human lives were worth collecting.

As he walked out of the warehouse, looking at the captives already lying on the stretchers, Mountain Eagle said to Daniel, "Hey, Daniel, stop looking. What do you think should be done with this guy?

I bet, whether you lock him up in the Los Angeles Police Department or send him to the hospital, someone will still try to kill him."

Daniel picked up a few stacks of cash to pose for a photo, having an impatient Rosa take his picture...

After the photos, he left with Rosa and nodded to Mountain Eagle, saying, "I have a preliminary guess about the mastermind behind the Replacers, so the FBI will take charge of detaining and interrogating this guy."

As Daniel viewed the captive's contorted limbs, he painfully said, "No, he should be sent to the hospital first...

Even if he doesn't speak, as long as he's alive, he naturally becomes a lead.

I'm sure, those cops who attacked you are not the whole extent of the Replacers' protection umbrella. If this guy is really important, they will go to any lengths to kill him."

Mountain Eagle nodded in agreement. He glanced at Tiffany, who had an injured shoulder, then said to Daniel, "The valuable items in the warehouse should be related to the Replacers' past business, possibly even the victims' belongings.

If we can trace the origins of these items, we can link some cases that look like robbery or murder to the Replacers.

And I bet, in those murder cases where the perpetrator cannot be found, or where the perpetrator is a minor, as long as the victims' belongings end up here, then the police involved might be problematic..."

Upon hearing this, Daniel clapped his hands forcefully and said, "They're not just collecting stolen goods; they're collecting dirt on the police involved.

That explains why those black cops were so desperate!"

Mountain Eagle paused, then nodded slightly...

Logically speaking, it would be the most foolish thing for an assassin to leave the victim's belongings behind after a job.

The Replacers' killers are mediocre in ability, but as an organization, they are professional and shouldn't make such basic mistakes.

Leaving these items behind, as Daniel said, was likely to preserve evidence of the black police's involvement.

The attackers were indeed reckless in their attack, and there's no squad in Europe and America that could maintain morale with over 20% casualties; these black cops, for their reputation and future, really staked their lives.

In the United States, police going to prison is like entering Hell!

Once convicted, not only will they meet with disaster, but their pensions will be gone, and their families and children will face humiliation and blame.

Who could endure that?
