Kieran looked to his side with sheer surprise, 'How does she care for her people this much?' Kieran was stunned by her resolve.
What kind of love for her people would actually be strong enough to shatter the bond between two siblings?
He never had a sibling before, or knew what it felt like to have a family.
But one thing was certain, Mira was really pissed with what her brother had done to the people, and she wasn't going to sit back and watch it happen.
Mira took a step forward, her long whip appearing in her hand.
'Who knew a day would come when I'd finally stand up against big brother?... No, I should have done this earlier.' Mira's gaze softened slightly.
A quiet realization.
If she had stopped him earlier.
This all started as an obsession to get the name of the beast elves back into the heart of the world.
To be etched on every realm that existed out in the universe.
But slowly,
It turned into something else.
It wasn't just an obsession for power.
It became an obsession for absolute control. For dominance.
To destroy everything and anyone who stood in his path to his goal.
To be at the pinnacle of power.
Castan had long since forgotten about his people.
She knew this ever since he started pouring all their resources into breaking the gates rather than using it for the people so they could have better lives.
She let his obsession grow into this—a tyrant who now cares about nothing more than power.
She felt a pang in her chest.
She knew she had to make up for it now.
Dragging a deep breath, she looked up at Castan's figure. "Castan! I'll tell you one more time! Stop this!" Mira's voice echoed through the entire capital.
The elves looked at their princess, but they couldn't find hope in her.
What was she in comparison to her brother?
She watched him slowly become a tyrant, and she did nothing.
What made the difference now?
Some even muttered curses under their breath.
Cursing not just one, but both siblings.
Castan glared at Mira, his gaze dark and piercing.
A chilling cold swept through the field.
"What did you say? Have you finally gone mad as well?"
"I'm not mad! It's you who is! If I'd known earlier, I wouldn't have let you kill brother in that duel!" Mira retorted with a resolute voice.
Firm and unwavering.
Castan's gaze darkened even more, and the very air seemed to respond to his anger.
His face scrunched up, his eyes showing visible disgust.
Castan could see the burning determination flickering within her crimson gaze.
And slowly, a dark wicked grin cut across his face.
"Ahhh, now I understand what's going on. So this was what you've been waiting for? I always knew you were out for the throne! You think I wouldn't know? Why else would you have allowed me to kill brother? Because you thought I was weaker and you could deal with me much more easily. It's a good thing I was able to tame brother's divine beasts after his death. Else I'm sure you would have shown your true colors earlier." Castan scoffed as he looked at Mira.
"Regardless, it's a good thing you have shown your true colors. Now I don't have to bother about dealing with you. I might as well just do it now!" Castan's voice dropped an octave.
His voice cold and devoid of warmth, sinister in fact.
With a sharp gaze, his eyes fell on Kara who stood by Mira's side.
He couldn't let anyone stop him from focusing, or he would face a backlash from the S-grade spell he was using.
However, since Kara was already so close to the princess, a glance alone was enough to tell her what to do.
But he waited a long minute. However, the sphinx didn't dare move.
As though she was petrified in that spot.
Unable to even move an inch.
'What's wrong with you! Hurry up and kill that disgrace of a sister before she interrupts me!' he roared in his mind.
But he suddenly realized.
'I can't feel my connection with her... What happened?' Castan's brows arched.
Utter confusion written all over his face.
He looked back at Kara, and she stood there unmoving, looking at him with a familiar gaze.
'That eye! How dare she look at me like that.'
Kara's gaze was steaming with disgust, anger, disobedience.
"You dare look at me with those eyes, it seems I didn't teach you well. That aside, how did you weaken the contract?" Castan asked, irritation visible on his face.
He could still feel their connection, however it was very faint.
Almost as though it could break off at any point.
But it didn't matter, because so far it was still active, she couldn't kill or harm him.
Same couldn't be said for him though.
So it was only a matter of time, and he would be able to strengthen the contract again.
But that still didn't answer the question he had in mind.
"Meow." A small, childlike voice echoed.
It was at this moment he noticed the figure standing right next to Kara.
He hadn't noticed before as his focus was solely on his sister and the beast.
But now, he sensed it.
It was faint, but it still existed.
Aetheris!
The man stood with a black and red battle suit, with a small black shadowy cat perched on his shoulder.
A cat that looked to be quite familiar.
'... Isn't that... Amaya?' Castan asked himself, confused.
But his gaze lingered on Kieran.
The young man had a small knowing smile on his face.
And his dark, dull eyes stared at him with interest.
Kieran, who had been lost in his own thoughts since, couldn't help but notice the sharp gaze that was fixed on him.
And that brought him to the conclusion of his thoughts.
'I know I promised not to kill her brother... But it doesn't seem like they're on good terms either. But I'm quite curious, what would happen if I killed a God candidate?' Kieran asked himself, looking at the notification that was just right in front of his eyes.
And not just him, but Castan as well.
{Ding!}
