After carefully reviewing both his and Celeste's options for their specialized classes, Karl took a moment to reflect on his own choices.
The system had presented him with five distinct paths: Evolution, Training, Control, Light, and Death.
Each option carried its own weight and potential, and Karl knew that his decision would shape his future as a Spirit Summoner.
He needed to choose wisely.
First, he considered [Master of Training].
This option likely revolved around enhancing his ability to train his spirits within the [Spirit Cemetery].
Karl had already seen the benefits of training through his [Frenzied Rabbit], which had mimicked his movements perfectly during the third trial of the entrance examination.
If he could unlock additional training methods or structures within the cemetery, it would undoubtedly make his spirits stronger.
However, as much as the idea appealed to him, Karl couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't the right choice.
Training was important, but it felt too narrow, too limited in scope.
Next, he turned his attention to [Master of Light] and [Master of Death].
Both options seemed to be tied to elemental affinities, which was intriguing but didn't quite align with his current strengths.
While mastering light or death could offer powerful abilities, Karl felt they were too specific and didn't complement his role as a Spirit Summoner as well as the other options.
That left him with two choices: [Master of Control] and [Master of Evolution].
The former seemed to focus on improving his ability to command his spirits.
Perhaps it would increase the distance at which he could control them or grant him more precise command over their actions.
While this was tempting, Karl realized he was already managing well with his current level of control.
His spirits obeyed his every command, and they stayed close enough to him in battle.
The only way this option would be truly beneficial was if it allowed him to control his spirits telepathically, but even that felt a bit unnatural to him.
Finally, there was [Master of Evolution].
The word itself carried a sense of growth, transformation, and potential.
To evolve something was to make it stronger, to unlock its hidden potential.
For Karl, this meant the possibility of evolving his spirits, enhancing their abilities, and making them even more formidable than they already were.
The idea resonated deeply with him.
It felt like the natural progression of his journey as a Spirit Summoner.
Without hesitation, Karl made his choice.
Click!
[You have selected "Evolution" as your choice.]
A wave of excitement washed over him.
This was it—the moment he had been waiting for.
The system responded almost immediately.
[Your Specialized class "Master of Evolution" has been created, and its rank has been determined.]
Karl's heart raced as he waited to see the rank of his new class.
The higher the rank, the more powerful and unique his abilities would be.
[Master of Evolution's initial rank is SS.]
"NICE!"
Karl couldn't contain his excitement.
An SS-Rank specialized class was an incredible achievement.
It meant he had access to some of the most powerful abilities available to Awakeners at his level.
But what exactly did this new class entail?
The system provided a clue.
[You need to head to the "Spirit Cemetery" to check out your Specialized class' abilities.]
Karl nodded.
It made sense that he would need to return to the [Spirit Cemetery] to explore his new abilities.
After all, that was the heart of his profession.
But before he could do that, he turned to Celeste, who had also made her choice.
They exchanged panels, eager to see what the other had selected.
Celeste's specialized class appeared before him:
[Serene Mind (SS-Rank)]
Karl couldn't help but laugh lightly.
"You actually took the one that seemed the most boring out of them all," he teased.
"And it worked!"
Celeste smiled.
"Yeah, I just thought it was the best option, especially for a mage like me."
Karl nodded in agreement.
While the other options—Chaotic, Explosive, Determined, and Hopeful—might have seemed flashy or powerful, they didn't quite fit the role of a mage.
A [Chaotic Mind] or [Explosive Mind] might sound impressive, but they didn't align with the calm, focused nature of spellcasting.
Celeste had chosen wisely.
"I don't think it's possible to get an SSS-Rank specialized class at first," Celeste said, "so we got the best possible option for now."
Karl agreed.
An SS-Rank specialized class was a significant achievement, and both of them had earned it through their hard work and determination.
Celeste's new abilities were displayed in a glowing panel, and Karl couldn't wait to see what she had unlocked.
[Serene Mind Passive Abilities Unlocked:]
[1. Absolute Focus: You will constantly be in a state of complete concentration, increasing casting speed and reducing mana consumption.]
[2. Arcane Stability: Prevents spell interruptions from enemy attacks or distractions.]
Celeste's specialized class was perfect for her.
[Absolute Focus] meant she could cast spells faster and more efficiently, conserving her mana for longer battles.
[Arcane Stability] ensured that her spells wouldn't be interrupted, even if she was attacked mid-cast.
These abilities made her an even more formidable mage, capable of maintaining her composure and effectiveness in the heat of battle.
Karl was genuinely impressed.
"These abilities are amazing," he said.
"You're going to be unstoppable."
Celeste smiled, clearly pleased with her choice.
"Now it's your turn.
What does [Master of Evolution] do?"
Karl shook his head.
"I need to head to the [Spirit Cemetery] to check out my abilities.
I'll let you know once I figure it out."
For now, though, Karl decided to hold off on visiting the cemetery.
He had a strange feeling about revealing his abilities in such a public space.
The [Awakened City] was filled with other Awakeners, and he didn't want to expose his weaknesses or strategies.
Plus, they still didn't know how to ascend to the sixth floor.
It was better to gather more information and prepare before diving into the next challenge.
"Let's go for now," Karl suggested.
"I don't want to go to the [Spirit Cemetery] here."
Celeste nodded in agreement.
They had accomplished what they came to do, and there was no point in lingering.
The people in the fifth floor seemed to be waiting or passing the time, but without more information, it was useless to stay.
A notification appeared before them:
[Do you want to leave the fifth floor?]
[Do note that you still haven't unlocked "Fast Travel" as you still haven't completed the "Tower's Tutorial."]
[Yes] [No]
Without hesitation, they both selected [Yes].
In a flash of blue light, their bodies dissolved into particles, and they were transported out of the Tower.
Fwish!
A few seconds later, Karl and Celeste reappeared in the fifth floor's square, the last available fast-travel point before completing the Tower's tutorial.
They expected to be alone, but as they looked up, they saw two figures standing nearby.
Karl didn't recognize them, but Celeste's reaction told him everything he needed to know.
"Mom? Dad?"
She called out, her voice filled with surprise and emotion.
Karl's eyes widened as he realized who these people were: Celeste's parents.
He hadn't expected to meet them so soon, but here they were, standing in the square as if they had been waiting for her.
