A Terrible Villain And Their Destiny

Chapter 172: There Are Some Secrets

After the entire fiasco that occurred in the classroom the students of that class were let out early. Orchid did give everyone their textbooks and some material to review, along with a slightly subtle threat to keep quiet about the situation. Of course there was an option for them to drop from the class.

But considering how hard they worked to get into this prestigious school, they all readily agreed to keep quiet. The involvement of Bryson and the others were also kept on the down low, Bryson's presence concealment trick he got from Lottie did wonders with allowing that to happen. For the most part the other students just recalled that the smoky-headed man simply blasted the door apart, they didn't really bother thinking why as long as they weren't prodded to do so.

As Bryson was heading back to his room he was intercepted by one Orchid Falls. When seeing her, he saw a mischievous look on her face. Bryson couldn't help but feel uneasy seeing that expression.

"Can I help you Professor Falls?" Bryson asked trying not to betray any emotion.

"Bryson." Orchid said with a tone of someone who caught another in a lie, "Do you have a moment to speak?"

"I thought we had sorted out the classroom disaster."

"Not quite, I still have a personal question regarding you."

"Personal question?" Bryson said getting a bad feeling.

Orchid smiled and tapped right under her right eye, "You have very pretty eyes, has anyone ever told you that?"

Bryson gave a sharp inhale, "No… people don't tend to compliment my eyes."

"Shame, they have quite the glow." She said teasingly and gave a laugh as she saw Bryson squirm on the spot, "Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me."

"I don't know what you mean." Bryson badly lied.

"Those with magic unique to others have both a blessing and a curse." Orchid said in a more serious tone, "The reason why you're different may be known to you already or not, either way it does not matter. All that matters is what you do with it."

Bryson gave a small pause before asking, "Why tell me this?"

"Because I know a thing or two about being different due to my magical ability. Now I don't know exactly what your specialness entails, nor will I pry you for it. All I know is that you want to keep it a secret so I will respect your wishes." She said shrugging.

"Even if it could be dangerous?"

"If it's dangerous then you just need to be more careful. Besides, after seeing you use it already, it seems that you already have a grasp on handling it."

"You're sure you can trust me?"

"Why not? A teacher should trust their student and vice versa don't you think?"

"Hmm. Well I do appreciate the trust. Thank you for keeping it a secret." Bryson said before pausing to ask, "What do you mean by how you had unique magic?"

"Oh? You don't know?"

"Should I?"

"I'm hurt." Orchid said feigning offence as she dramatically placed the back of her hand to her forehead and tilted her head upwards, "To think just a few years after retirement that the great witch of lightning would fall into irrelevancy. Perhaps eternal never was an appropriate title for me."

"What is this nonsense?" Bryson grumbled.

"Have you seriously never heard of 'The Eternal Blooming Witch of Ustrin'?"

"Should I have?"

"You know it's one of the most famous names in the world right?" Orchid said looking at him amused.

"Not exactly interested in titles." Bryson said shrugging.

"Honestly, I am a bit saddened that you generally never heard of me, or at least my title." Orchid said with a sigh, "No matter, what's important right now is for you to keep your eye out."

"Why me in particular?"

"You hurt the thing the most, it will try to come back. You have a target on your back now." Orchid said seriously.

"Right." Bryson said nodding his head, "But…why did the thing seem to know you?"

"You're a sharp kid." Orchid said with a smile, "I have an idea why, but a girl's got to have her secrets."

"I get it. Not like I'm in a position to pry." Bryson said as he gave his goodbyes to Orchid and headed back to his school dorm.

Entering through the house set up for him and Reynard he found that the prince was not back yet. As Bryson debated what to get to eat for dinner, he entered his room and discovered a letter on his bed. Curious, he saw that it was sent by his father, opening it, he read the contents.

Bryson, it has come to my attention through your mother that you and Sable require some extra motivation. Therefore, I am sending both of you a letter. You have been approved by the king. Henceforth you now hold the title of Viscount Bryson Colin Coldwater. Do us proud.

- Duke Coldwater

Hallow laid down on a large rock as he stared up at the sky, the clouds warped and changed, gaining colours, textures, and movement. Above him the clouds began to play back the events that occurred recently. With a mysterious smoky-headed man attacking The Academy only to be thwarted in part by one Bryson Coldwater.

As he watched he sensed a shadow rise from the ground and take the form of a humanoid. Hallow slowly turned his head over to look at the newcomer. Before him he saw a man dressed like a butler standing before Hallow, staring at him with contempt.

"What do you want?" Hallow asked.

"The Demon King Szargosh realized that you may have some concerns over what recently transpired." The butler said glancing up at the clouds.

"Oh, I wonder why?" Hallow said sarcastically, "Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that you lot just invaded The Academy. You weren't to get involved like that, were you?"

"Our king has no need to talk to you about his actions. Besides, it does not matter. For these actions were done without approval from the king."

"A maverick then?" Hallow said grinning, "Looks like you don't have things as well controlled as you may like to pretend to."

"Insolent cur."

"No matter." Hallow said ignoring the butler again, "I do like it when someone else puts on a show for me. I wonder how everyone will handle this." He said with a chuckle, "Best not disappoint me now."

Though internally he was already setting up a plan to delve deeper into these unexpected nuisances. If deemed useful, he'll let them play around and cause some grief. If not, well they are in part here due to him, so he should be allowed to play custodian if needed. Who knows? It may be rather fun.
