After my divorce, I started to have good luck

Chapter 339 Heroic Figures

At the dining table, everyone tacitly avoided mentioning the midday shooting incident, resulting in a harmonious atmosphere and a rather pleasant meal.

During the meal, Chen Feng and Qin Zhen mostly focused on eating, interacting with Vivian, the wealthy heiress, only a few times.

They merely exchanged a few simple words, sharing their names and discussing some aspects of Rabbit Country's customs and culture.

It wasn't because their English was bad, but because they both were aware that Vivian had a lukewarm impression of them, so naturally, they didn't want to force a friendship.

Additionally, they both vaguely felt that Vivian could spell trouble, as those attackers from the afternoon might not give up easily, and there could be another attempt. So, it was best not to get too close to her.

This meal at the hotel was presumably secure, and in the future, it was unlikely they would have much interaction with her.

After finishing the meal, Chen Feng and Qin Zhen left first to go downstairs, while Anna stayed to chat with her a bit longer.

"That woman is indeed beautiful, but she's somewhat aloof, not to mention a wealthy heiress, and now she's targeted by a group of armed individuals. Otherwise, I might actually try to date her," said Qin Zhen with a hint of regret in the elevator going downstairs.

Chen Feng didn't critique this but nodded in agreement, "It's a real pity. We traveled all this way to meet her, a real wealthy and beautiful woman, but it seems it was just a one-time meal."

Both brothers sighed in unison, expressing regret.

Seeing Chen Feng sigh along with him, Qin Zhen said with annoyance, "Don't tell me you're also interested in that foreign girl?"

Chen Feng sighed, "So what if I am? It's not meant to be."

"Damn! You really are something! Falling for every girl you see, do you have to be so fickle?"

Qin Zhen was displeased with Chen Feng's playboy attitude, especially now that it felt like he was competing with him.

He had initially been interested in Anna, thinking of having a romantic European trip with her, to see how it goes, and if suitable, he wouldn't mind having her as a long-term girlfriend.

But it turned out Anna was already involved with Chen Feng. On the night they rescued Jin Yongnian, Chen Feng had made an excuse to wander around the hotel and returned more than two hours later.

They shared a twin room. When Chen Feng returned, he sat and chatted with Qin Zhen face to face. Qin Zhen noticed the same perfume scent on Chen Feng as on Anna, lingering for a long time.

Being a cop trained in crime investigation, Qin Zhen was of course able to deduce the simple scent and logical connections.

At first, he was skeptical, but he couldn't resist asking Anna about it. The French girl laughed heartily and admitted it directly.

He almost flew into a rage, wanting to go back and thrash Chen Feng, but then he recalled that Chen Feng had opposed his pursuit of Anna from the beginning. It was he'd who'd insisted, so he couldn't really blame Chen Feng for this situation.

As for why Chen Feng didn't explain the reason at the start, not mentioning his involvement with Anna, as friends, he could understand.

If Chen Feng had told him, he might not have believed it. Besides, he was head over heels for Anna at that time, and Chen Feng's words might have created discomfort and awkwardness between them.

Thus, Qin Zhen ultimately dropped the idea of settling scores with Chen Feng. Afterwards, he certainly lost all romantic interest in Anna.

Although he didn't hold it against Chen Feng, it was frustrating to now become interested in another woman, only for Chen Feng to seemingly compete again, naturally sparking his anger.

Fortunately, Qin Zhen knew that neither of them could actually have a chance with Vivian, otherwise, it could cause bad blood, even if it wouldn't sever their brotherly ties.

"Come on. It's not like either of us can end up with this heiress, so why get so worked up?"

Chen Feng put an arm around his shoulder and laughed.

Qin Zhen rolled his eyes at him, but said nothing further.

The elevator descended to the sixth floor and stopped. Their room was on the fifth floor, and as the doors opened, a man covered in blood stumbled in.

Once inside, he turned and fired several shots outside, driving back the two men who were pursuing him, until the elevator doors closed. Then he collapsed onto the floor inside the elevator.

His abdomen had been shot, his clothes stained with blood, but he showed no intention of stopping the bleeding or calling for help. Instead, he took out a phone from his pocket and called while gasping for breath.

After a while, the call finally went through, and the man said breathlessly, "We've encountered an attack. Do not take Miss Vivian back to the room. Find a secure location immediately and hold tight for backup. Prioritize Miss Vivian's safety above all else."

After saying this, the man could no longer hold on, groaning as his phone fell to the ground. He clutched his abdomen, his face twisted with pain.

The elevator reached the next floor, and the doors opened again.

It was only then that Chen Feng and Qin Zhen snapped back to reality, recalling the man had spoken English and mentioned Vivian's name, which they recognized clearly.

Vivian had already faced danger at noon, causing quite a commotion, and now another attack had occurred in this luxury hotel within a single day, making it insanely bold.

Both men couldn't help but feel worried for Vivian.

"Gentlemen, if you could, would you call me an ambulance?"

The injured man spoke up.

But just as he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his gun again, firing outside and bringing down an armed man.

Seeing this, Qin Zhen couldn't help but quietly praise; the man's reaction and aim were quite impressive.

With the elevator doors closed again, Qin Zhen spoke in English, "We just had a meal with Vivian on the top floor. Are you her bodyguard?"

The man didn't immediately respond to Qin Zhen's question, but instead looked at him warily.

Seeing this, Qin Zhen reluctantly raised his hands, saying, "Alright, I'll call an ambulance for you right now."

Not wanting to be misunderstood and shot, Qin Zhen took out his phone under the man's guarded gaze and dialed for an ambulance.

Once Qin Zhen had finished the call, the man finally eased his guard, pressing firmly on his wounded stomach with one hand, while barely holding onto his gun with the other.

"If you trust me, I can help you stop the bleeding right now. I've learned some first aid."

Qin Zhen admired the bodyguard and wanted to assist him.

After a slight hesitation, the bodyguard nodded in agreement, "Thank you, I'd appreciate that."

Seeing his consent, Qin Zhen wasted no time and stepped forward to administer first aid, applying a basic bandage to the bullet wound to slow the bleeding.

His movements were quick and efficient, and he soon completed the task. Given the circumstances, all he could do was a simple bandaging of the wound.

Just then, the elevator doors opened once more, this time arriving on the ground floor. Several people were waiting in front of the elevator, including two women who gasped in shock upon seeing the injured bodyguard sitting on the floor inside.
