Extreme Cold Era: Shelter Don't Keep Waste

Chapter 372: Feast of Slaughter

In the council chamber, the noble council members remained complacent.

They believed it was their victory and suppression of Perfikot, that even though she was the all-powerful Lord of the Northern Territory, she must obediently accept the interrogation of the Noble Council without any resistance.

This was a reflection of the Noble Council's authority and also a demonstration of their power.

To a considerable number of noble council members, Perfikot's previous warning about the "end of the world" was seen as a blatant stunt, and so they mocked her.

To this day, she has already become a key minister of the Empire, but this matter has always been a thorn in both their sides.

The noble council members who mocked Perfikot feared she would retaliate against them for this, while some members believed they did nothing wrong; a woman like Perfikot should not have entered politics in the first place, let alone become a high-ranking noble above them.

So these old fellows were very enthusiastic about this hearing, eager to limit Perfikot's powers, eager to strip her of those privileges, and even more eager to seize more benefits from the Northern Territory.

With the development of the Northern Territory, those forces and factions involved had made a fortune, making those not involved incredibly envious.

Due to offending Perfikot in the past, the members of the Noble Council did not participate in the development of the Northern Territory and naturally reaped no benefits.

This feeling of watching others make money while losing out oneself was one primary reason these noble council members were incited against Perfikot.

They hoped... no, they must make Perfikot give up some of her interests so they could profit, right?

However, when the hearing began, Perfikot appeared with four Steam Knights belonging to different Knight Orders, and this arrogant attitude dissatisfied quite a few noble council members.

They immediately challenged Perfikot: "Miss Brandelis, you are here to accept the Noble Council's questioning, and according to regulations, you should not bring any attendants into the chamber. These toys of yours should stay outside."

"Hahaha, exactly, toys belong where toys belong!"

"Girls should play with dolls, war has nothing to do with you! Having these powerful knights follow you is simply a waste."

Hearing these harsh words, Perfikot initially planned to bear them to hear what questions these fools wanted to ask, but now she realized she had overestimated their intellect.

So she drew out her Golden Touching Rod and tapped on the chair prepared for her, turning the deliberately uncomfortable hard-backed chair into a soft and comfortable sofa, allowing her to sit more comfortably.

After sitting down, Perfikot placed a hand on her face and said helplessly, "I've already lowered my evaluation of you to the bare minimum; why do you still manage to surprise me with your stupidity? Don't you understand why I can bring Steam Knights in here?"

Perfikot's words instantly changed the expressions of some of the more astute noble council members. But when they tried to flee the chamber, they suddenly found that all the doors and windows had disappeared.

"You don't think I just conjured up a chair, right? You really underestimate an Alchemist with the Philosopher's Stone." Perfikot had Beifa make tea for her while waving to the four knights nearby. "Without sealing you here, how could I ensure you all die here? Go ahead and make it quick."

Upon receiving Perfikot's orders, the four knights exchanged glances and drew their knight swords and Chain-Saw Swords, advancing towards the noble council members.

They weren't hesitating; they simply weren't used to receiving orders to slaughter nobles.

Especially the two knights from the Iron Fire Knight Order who were not yet familiar with Perfikot and were somewhat unprepared for this situation.

But after all, they were knights who had witnessed blood and fire and truly been on the battlefield. Facing this situation, they quickly stabilized their emotions and then wielded their knight swords, beginning an efficient slaughter.

This is where the Iron Fire Knight Order differs from the White Bear Knight Order.

The White Bear Knight Order utilizes the Chain-Saw Sword designed by Perfikot, a weapon that, although cumbersome and unwieldy, becomes a highly effective armor-piercing tool when augmented by the power of Steam Knight armor and the material enhancements from Imaginary Alchemy.

After all, no one idly dwells on whether a knight's armor can ensure defense against a chainsaw.

Besides, most of the time, the Chain-Saw Sword doesn't need to open cans but only cut grass.

For mowing down, the Chain-Saw Sword is indeed more practical and efficient than a traditional knight sword.

However, not all Knight Orders can adapt to the Chain-Saw Sword, and not all can afford the consumption and expenses associated with it.

Therefore, when the old prince upgraded the equipment for the Iron Fire Knight Order, he primarily chose the double-handed swords as tall as a normal person as weapons for the Steam Knight armor.

This large melee weapon is extremely difficult to wield for ordinary people and can only be used by the very strong.

But on the battlefield, the damage a massive sword can cause is terrifying, especially if one is proficient in its use.

Duke Grosset was an expert in wielding a double-handed sword. Under his suggestion and improvement, the double-handed sword was successfully equipped to the Steam Knight armor of the Iron Fire Knight Order and soon gained the knights' favor.

Now, this weapon also demonstrated its unparalleled power. A single strike could cleave an unprotected person from shoulder to hip, slicing them in two diagonally.

Even in this setting, the Chain-Saw Sword performed well since the council chamber had many chairs and other obstacles, all negligible in front of the Chain-Saw Sword.

The only slight drawback was that the Chain-Saw Sword wasn't as quick at slicing through bodies as the double-handed sword, and the bloody mess was not pleasant to watch.

But from another perspective, such bloodshed might actually be more effective.

At least, as Perfikot sipped her tea amid the screams, someone literally crawled to her feet and begged the Countess for mercy.
