I’m a Human among Fey

Side story: Meeting of the fathers

Having obtained the strand of hair, from his adoptive daughter's head. King Almenor's cheery disposition quickly vanishes as he gets out of view of his daughters.

Holding the lock in front of him, he chants, "Grand stars, lighting the darkness above, guide me to the place I seek. Find the father of this girl and show me his location. Greater Guide."

A twinkling mass of stars slowly forms in front of Almenor as he casts his spell, glittering like a nebula.

Pfft, Everytime I cast this spell, I have to think of my wife…I hope my wonderful daughter will take after her beauty.

He takes a look at the farmhouse that his daughter lived in her previous life one more time.

I know it will be hard…But please try to contain your anger Elleyn, we must not make our daughter fear us. That poor child has already faced so many hardships no person should face in their entire life just within her measly fourteen years…

He tightens his fist.

That child must only feel kindness and love from now on. She has suffered enough for two lifetimes.

Swirling and moving around, the nebula in front of Almenor suddenly stabilizes, centers itself and starts pointing in a direction. Trying to hold in his anger as much as he can, Almenor quickly flies into that direction, following the stars as a guide. But even though he tries hard, a snowstorm starts to slowly build behind him the further he gets away from his family, culminating into a full on Blizzard as he reaches the prison.

Fascinating…There is so much iron in this building you would think they were trying to keep us out…Or in. It seems Humans enjoy metal work regardless of our existence. Perhaps that makes the Dwarfs' claims of being Humanoid rather than Gnomelings more credible. Either way, this timeline will have to be thoroughly studied.

The starlight then leads Almenor down to a window barred with iron and disappears when trying to enter through the wall.

Hmm…It seems even the walls are reinforced with iron. Well…I guess, there is no subtle way in.

Taking a deep breath, Almenor enlarges to look almost balloon-like, then breathes out cold air onto the wall in front of him, completely freezing it over. Taking out what looks like a pen from one of his suit pockets, he clicks on it and it enlarges into what looks like an ornate scepter. Clicking a different button, the scepter sprouts two giant axe blades, each the size of an elephant, made of magical ice. Gripping it firmly, Almenor, without any visible strain, swings his giant axe to create an x-shaped wound within the wall, causing it to break down and crumble in front of him to the sounds of loud sirens and many warning lights.

Behind the wall, inside a now rubble covered cell, he finds a muscular brunette man with short hair, wearing orange prison clothes. He is visibly shocked, clutching a bible in his hand. His face looks slightly weathered with underlying gentle features, he has a short scruffy beard and looks quite tired with big bags under his eyes.

Stepping inside the cell, while seemingly keeping his calm on the outside, King Almenor asks, "Are you the father of the late Samuel Gardner?"

He looks too stunned to answer.

As the blizzard cries outside, King Almenors voice authoritatively doubles in on itself as he uses domination magic to ask again, "Are you the father of the late Samuel Gardner? Answer me!"

With slightly glazed over eyes, he answers, "Y-Yes," as guards approach his cell.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Pointing their guns at him, the guards yell, "Hands up! Get down!"

Almenor then raises his hands in response and forms a wall of ice between the guards and the cell. He picks Samuel's father up by the collar and flies away with him at immense speeds, landing in an empty field and throwing him to the ground.

With the blizzard raging around them, Almemor removes his glimmer, "Tell me your name."

Clutching his bible, Samuel's father stands up and somewhat scared, answers, "Isaac…Isaac Gardner."

Almenor stares at him while gritting his teeth.

So this is the man that beat my daughter to death in her previous life…

The storm starts to rage even worse than before.

Isaac, putting his bible over his heart, stares at Almenor for a bit before kneeling down in front of him, "I know not whether you are an Angel or a Demon but either way, I will accept any punishment you have for me. I have committed an unforgivable sin."

Trying to keep his storm at bay enough to not kill Isaac, Almenor replies, "I have questions. I expect you to answer them honestly."

Lowering his head, he answers, "Of course."

"Why did you kill your own child?" He forms a fist, "How can any father stoop so low as to murder their own child?"

"I…I tried to protect him…"

The storm grows stronger.

"Protect!? How is beating and murdering your child, protection!?"

Looking up with sorrowful eyes, Isaac answers, "I know now that my methods were wrong and that I have done something inexcusable but my intentions were pure. I wanted for my son to enter the kingdom of heaven one day. I was simply trying to protect him from his sinful ways, so he will not be hellbound like his older sister. The only thing that gives me solace these days, now that I have doomed myself for hell, is that I protected my son long enough to enter the kingdom of heaven. I only hope that one day, I will be able to join him there…"

The storm slightly lessening, Almenor answers, "You disgust me. To abuse your own child and instill so much fear and self hatred into them just to appease some deity…I will never understand it. Have you no empathy? Do you not know how much your 'son' had suffered under you?"

Isaac looks away, "It can't have been easy on him…"

Gritting his teeth, Almenor answers, "And it was all for naught too. Your 'son' did not enter your deity's heaven after he died."

"What!?" getting up from his knees, Isaac grabs Almenor's suit and pleads, "Please, I don't care what it takes! As his father I will take all of his sin on me and I will never even dream of entering heaven! Just please! Let him enter heaven!"

Staring at Isaacs desperate face, Almenor can't help but have the storm slow down considerably.

"If you truly wish to atone for your sins, I can give you that opportunity."

Getting a desperate, yet hopeful smile on his face, Isaac yells, "Really!? Of course I-"

"BUT I will not send 'your son' to heaven. Instead, they will live a second life filled with love and affection."

"A second chance…" Isaac mutters, "Thank you so much…"

Grabbing Isaac's collar, Almenor continues, "Now…As for your atonement. I will force your soul to be reincarnated for ten lives. In each of them, you will either long for someone of your own sex or live as a sex that will feel wrong to you and your parents will be abusive and unsupportive. Throughout all of your lives, you will keep your memories and if you still wish to, after those ten lives have passed, I will allow you to meet 'Samuel' again but you will not be allowed to share who you were. That child has suffered enough."

"I…If this is the penance for my actions…I-I will accept. But please promise me one thing. Let Samuel be happy in this life."

Almenor nods.

"I will make sure 'Samuel' can live the best life possible."

Colors emerge in the air. A pact has been made.

Sucking in the cold air again, Almenor grows in size until he towers over Isaac, "You shall feel the same disparity in power as you will die the same way your son did."

Going down on his knees again, Isaac lowers his head while clutching his bible, "I understand."

It is then, that with his own two hands, Almenor beats Isaac to death and curses his soul into reincarnating.

Wiping Isaac's blood off his hands and clothes, he says, "I expected a lot less from you. Your daughter will be safe with me, I look with great interest on how you will grow as a person with more experience."

He then lowers his head just slightly out of respect and flies back to his family as Isaac's corpse gets covered in gentle snow.
