"Women are delicate flowers, and men are the nutrients and nourishment. A good male companion can stimulate your youthful mindset and perfect your state even more!"
"Like you?"
"Of course!"
Harry's shamelessness successfully piqued Lycoris's interest. She glanced at the expensive watch on her wrist and said with some reservation, "Did you bring your medical report? I'd like to try out your wildness first!"
Harry was stunned. Huh... FK. Is being a kept man really this professionalized now?
Lycoris, having met countless people, could tell at a glance that Harry wasn't a professional, which only increased her interest. "Is this your first time in a place like this?"
"Yes... I..."
"No need to say more. We have complementary services here, and I'm even more interested in you now." With that, Lycoris snapped her fingers.
A waiter, very observant, walked over.
Before long, Carlo saw Harry follow the waiter out of sight by the pool. Lycoris also slipped on a white bath towel and disappeared.
So, it's a success? Carlo wondered. Looking at Lycoris's bulky silhouette, Carlo admired Harry's sacrifice and effort, yet felt a twinge of envy. It's a complex feeling. Probably not wanting to see a brother taken advantage of, yet also not wanting him to take a shortcut in life and live an easy life off women...
Harry, for his part, was working hard to solve the case. Dean wasn't idle either. He was receiving an FBI agent who had sniffed something out and come over. The visitor was none other than Cheston En, with whom he had dealt a few times before. This guy had a lucky escape in the last counterfeit money case. In a previous email, the FBI had wanted Dean to take Cheston En, this rookie, to handle the counterfeit case, but Dean had refused. Unexpectedly, Cheston En had still sought him out.
After several partner changes, Cheston En, once a proud young man, had his edges worn down by society in less than a year. The bulletproof vest hidden under his suit, along with the dark circles under his eyes, revealed to outsiders that he hadn't been faring well lately.
"Hello, Cheston En. Nice to see you again. You seem to be having a tough time?" Dean considerately placed a hot cup of coffee in front of Cheston En.
Cheston En immediately took it respectfully with both hands and chuckled. "Captain Dean, I only recently learned that you are also a special agent for the FBI. I was ignorant before, and I hope you don't mind."
When he was a trainee under Anthony's mentorship, he had once questioned Dean's Chinese heritage to show off his own ridiculous sense of superiority and inflated ego.
Hearing this, Dean's eyes narrowed slightly. Cheston En has already apologized for this. I also made it clear that the matter was in the past. A normal person wouldn't repeatedly bring up past grievances with someone they had offended. For Cheston En to mention it again, and in such a submissive and respectful manner, he must want a favor from me.
Sure enough, after a few pleasantries, Cheston En took a document out of his briefcase and presented it respectfully to Dean. "Captain Dean, I heard you took on a case yesterday that might be related to the New York Miniature Model Killer. This is some case information I found in the FBI's database. Hopefully, it helps you!"
"You're that well-informed?" Dean took the document, glanced at it, and his face showed surprise.
Cheston En isn't like me. As a newcomer, being able to constantly find influential people to rely on in a department like the FBI is already impressive. The problem is, every influential partner he's had has died, one after another. Under these circumstances, Cheston En, an employee with less than a year's tenure, shouldn't have such effective sources and channels of information!
"Actually, it's not that my information is particularly good," Cheston En explained. "Rather, this information was sent to me by the intelligence department. The New York Miniature Model Killer is a high-priority fugitive for the FBI. His appearance in Los Angeles was supposed to be handled by our local branch. But currently, except for me, all other personnel at the branch office died in the explosion during the last counterfeit money case. That's how I was able to access this information and also learn about your status as a special agent."
As he said this, Cheston En couldn't help but recall his surprise when he read the email. The email mentioned that there was still a special agent in Los Angeles who could be approached for assistance. But he never would have guessed that this person would be Dean!
In Cheston En's mind, the name Dean was enough to rob him of sleep. Since joining the FBI, he had only handled a few cases. However, every time he encountered Dean, his newly found influential partner would die. After taking over the counterfeit money case Dean had discovered, the entire Los Angeles bureau, except for him, had perished.
Now, Cheston En felt somewhat awkward within the FBI. From an outsider's perspective, whoever partnered with Cheston En was doomed. The FBI was not without its superstitious people. Cheston En had even heard rumors that headquarters was planning to assign him to some godforsaken place to coerce his resignation, or else they'd make him investigate the counterfeit money case himself.
That's practically sending me to my death! he thought. Yet, for certain reasons, he didn't want to leave the FBI, which he had struggled so hard to join. Seeing the email today gave Cheston En a new glimmer of hope. The counterfeit money case involved a group of extreme terrorists; it was far too dangerous for him to touch.
