Limitless Cultivation: I Can Master Every Profession!

Chapter 183: Life Extremities Technique

.

The long string of memories he experienced during this cultivation session didn't surprise him, in fact, he had expected it, and in a way, he'd even been looking forward to it.

This wasn't the first time Zhu Rong had gone through something like this.

Over the past month, it had happened several times, he would find himself submerged in memories that clearly weren't his, yet at the same time, felt strangely familiar.

It was clear that the fragment of soul within him had begun to merge faster and faster ever since its awakening.

The amount of memories was vast, but almost all of them were fragmented, filled with missing pieces.

From time to time, he would experience parts of them, and little by little, as time went by, he began to connect the dots.

And the more he did so, the deeper his understanding of both the past and the world around him became. Unfortunately, the more his awareness grew, the more he realized how troublesome his situation truly was.

He had come to understand many things during this period. Among them, he confirmed that the number of fragments into which his original soul had been divided was unknown, but his other self believed there were far more than two, and there was a good chance that the rest of them resided in higher realms.

The fragment of soul found in the Frozen Lands was likely the only other one in this plane of existence.

Knowing that reuniting these fragments would awaken the true owner of this soul wasn't something he could take lightlym or rather, he didn't even know how to take it.

If what his other self had said was true, then it meant that the current Zhu Rong was nothing more than a fragment, and once the others were reunited, he might cease to exist altogether.

That thought terrified him, and how could it not?

After all, anyone in his position would feel the same.

No one would like to know that their current self wasn't the original, and that once the other fragments reunited, they might simply vanish, replaced by his "true" self.

It was no different from saying they were just temporary imitations, destined to disappear sooner or later.

He had thought about it countless times over the past few days, but in the end, he could only set the matter aside for now.

Whether he liked it or not, he would eventually have to face that other fragment of soul, and for the time being, all he could do was prepare for that moment.

There was no point crying over something that hadn't yet happened, nor over something he couldn't do anything about with his current abilities.

His crisis of identity was soon pushed aside by another problem.

"Again, why can we use the corruptive energy?" he asked, seemingly to no one in particular, since he was the only one present.

Yet, despite that, a voice echoed, one only he could hear, for it came directly from his own mind.

"It's demonic energy. As for why we can use it, I can't tell you precisely. Before meeting the other fragment during that expedition to eliminate it, I didn't even know I could use it myself.

It was a shock for me too. But considering the state of the other fragment, and the fact that we can both access that energy, I believe it has always been within us.

I actually confirmed it to some extent when I started practicing the other technique of the Nine Extremity Dao Scripture," the voice said, reminding Zhu Rong that he indeed possessed that part of the manual as well.

Those were the only two techniques he had managed to recover from the inheritance of the First Emperor, or rather, his own inheritance.

According to his other self, the reason he could only recover these two wasn't because the others were lost, but because they were, in fact, the only two parts of the entire manual that the other side had managed to pass down.

To be precise, from what he'd been told, even this manual seemed to belong to the original being to whom the complete soul had once belonged. And the only reason he was able to retrieve these two parts was that, apparently, fragments of the manual were present within every piece of the soul.

That made Zhu Rong think that his fragment might have contained information about both parts, which would have explained why his previous self had left behind only these two.

But he later discovered that wasn't quite the case.

The part residing within him was solely the Elemental Extremities of Dao Technique, while the other was something his previous self had stolen from another fragment, or borrowed, as he liked to justify it.

According to what his other self had said to him, just like it had at one point during his cultivation path recovered the memories related to that part of the manual, the same had very likely happened to the other fragment as well.

But that wasn't all.

The main reason his otherself had been able to get his hands on the portion of the manual belonging to the other fragment was that he had managed to access it after awakening his demonic energy.

That made him realize that every fragment of soul seemed to possess its own peculiarity, and that peculiarity was somehow connected to the part of the manual it held.

On that matter, however, both Zhu Rong and his previous self still had many doubts, since they knew far too little. Still, it was the only theory that made sense given their current circumstances.

That said, Zhu Rong didn't care much about it for now.

It was just another thing he had learned in the past month, that like the rest, neither he nor his other half could do anything about it at the moment.

Not that it mattered much anyway, since the other part of the technique was now in his hands, and after Zhu Rong examined it, he found that it was in no way inferior to the one he was already practicing,

The Life's Extremities Technique.
